It’s also where physics enters the picture. Some scientists have posited that the thing we think of as consciousness is made of micro-scale quantum physics events and other “spooky actions at a distance,” somehow fluttering inside our brains and generating conscious thoughts.

In Advaita Vedanta (nondual Hindu) philosophy, the universe can be viewed as 'a thought of consciousness'. That seems to basically be consistent with what these scientists are saying.

Well, without being able to read the OP link there is not much one can discuss really. I would like to know who are these scientists and whether they started with the universe is conscious and works towards that end.

It doesn't matter if I think it is conscious as I made no claim. What I said is that if I cannot read the link that I do not know what the parameters of the subject were employed in their research. Did they start with the assumption that it is conscious then work to confirm a bias. Without knowing what their starting point and methodology I can't evaluate what has been presented in the link because I cannot open it.

I don't know if it is or not and will not commit myself to believe anything that cannot be shown to exist or verified.
