UM-Bot Posted Wednesday at 12:50 PM #1 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:50 PM In an unexpected discovery, it turns out that lockdown actually had a measurable impact on the lunar surface. https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/381327/the-coronavirus-pandemic-changed-the-temperature-of-the-moon 2
Ell Posted Wednesday at 01:40 PM #2 Share Posted Wednesday at 01:40 PM (edited) Quote Global energy consumption growth accelerated in 2023 (+2.2%), much faster than its average 2010-2019 growth rate (+1.5%/year). https://yearbook.enerdata.net/total-energy/world-consumption-statistics.html Quote Energy demand and emissions bounced back to around pre-pandemic levels in 2021, reversing the temporary reduction in 2020 resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic ... Primary energy demand increased by 5.8% in 2021, exceeding 2019 levels by 1.3%. https://www.bp.com/content/dam/bp/business-sites/en/global/corporate/pdfs/energy-economics/statistical-review/bp-stats-review-2022-at-a-glance.pdf Loath as I am to admit it, the above data do suggest that there may have been a slight effect on the temperature of the moon. I still think that it must have been negligible, but I trust their measurements and calculations. Conclusion: the Moon will increase in brightness commensurate with the energy consumption on Earth. It might get so bright that we can switch of the street lights at night ... 😉 Edited Wednesday at 01:40 PM by Ell
Cho Jinn Posted Wednesday at 01:56 PM #3 Share Posted Wednesday at 01:56 PM So...the climate protestors are going to throw soup on, and glue their hands to, Fauci? I can't keep track of this anymore. 1

OMFG, now we're heating up the moon, too! Clearly, reduction of individual human rights will decrease temperatures and SAVE OUR SOLAR SYSTEM. 1 3

It is the temperature of the lunat NIGHT TIME that showed an increase, i.e the dark bit we can't actually see with visible light.. It has nothing to do with lunar brightness in visible wavelengths, only in the infrared. 1

The only thing the authors forgot to mention was that lockdowns seem to be safe and effective measures in dealing with the pandemic. Especially when you lock-down young and healthy people, who have really small chances of getting harmed by the virus, for long periods of time. Dealing effectively with the pandemic and reducing emissions and reducing the lunar surface temperature at night. What else do you want?! Here is the answer to most of our problems.
