Thanks for the link. This is just pure narcissistic behaviour by Trump that should be ringing warning bells not just with voters but more importantly with his own party. The GOP will rue the day they enabled DJT

You people are a HOOT :w00t:

What will be reported next?  Will there be an exclusive recording of Orange Man Bad plotting with Satan?  I gotta tell ya, it's a bad look during a campaign.  The hysteria indicates fear of losing and the only people it will convince are those already a member of the club.

You find it’s okay for  Trump to have 7 private phone calls with Putin okay? No wait, hilariously funny. Why?

For my lifetime at least, there have always been backchannel contacts/discussions between candidates who are likely to be the next POTUS and foreign leaders.  It was only with Trump that the DC crowd and its media decided to make such contacts appear nefarious.  This is especailly true during a winning candidates transition into office.  No member of such a team was EVER prosecuted for those contacts until DC went to war against the "outsider".  The FBI set up a 30 year three star general who was talking with the person who would in weeks be his counterpart.

I've explained that and you can make of it what you like.  You folks are so convinced that the man is a dire threat to America, despite there being ZERO evidence of that from his first term, that I don't take any of you seriously any longer.  This is just one more campaign strategy.  It's boring, you need to get new material.

Former US presidents often stay in touch with other world leaders after they leave office, maintaining relationships and connections built during their presidency. This is evident from the contact information provided for former presidents, such as Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush, and Jimmy Carter, which includes mailing addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.

In fact, the Supreme Court has recognized the importance of maintaining confidentiality in presidential communications, even after a president leaves office. This privilege allows former presidents to continue discussing sensitive information with other leaders without fear of disclosure.

Some notable examples of former presidents staying in touch with world leaders include:

- *Diplomatic Efforts*: Jimmy Carter's continued involvement in international diplomacy through the Carter Center ¹.
- *International Initiatives*: Bill Clinton's work with the Clinton Foundation, focusing on global health, climate change, and economic development.
- *Global Engagement*: George W. Bush's ongoing engagement with international leaders through the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

These efforts demonstrate that former presidents can maintain influential roles on the global stage, even after leaving office.

Trump is a private citizen having dealings with a world leader. As a patriotic American don’t you find this concerning instead of hilarious?

Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, has maintained connections with world leaders after leaving office. During his presidency, he met with various leaders, including Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy ¹.

After his presidency, Obama continued to engage with international leaders through various initiatives. He has been involved with the Obama Foundation, which aims to promote civic engagement and community development globally. He has also participated in various international events, conferences, and meetings, where he has interacted with world leaders ².

Some notable examples of Obama's post-presidency international engagement include:

- *Climate Change Initiatives*: Obama has worked with international leaders to address climate change, including the Paris Agreement.
- *Global Health Initiatives*: He has supported efforts to improve global health, including the fight against pandemics.
- *Conflict Resolution*: Obama has engaged with leaders to promote peace and conflict resolution in regions like the Middle East.

These efforts demonstrate Obama's ongoing commitment to global cooperation and diplomacy, even after leaving office.

According to what you just wrote, communication is done through a foundation and all interactions are recorded and made available to the public.

Has Trump done the same? The answer is NO!

Wasn’t Obama at Queen Liz’s funeral and Harry’s wedding?
Sounds like contact between world leaders to me.

That’s a social event. Are you suggesting Trump and Putin were just shooting the breeze?

Not all communications between former U.S. presidents and their foundations with other world leaders are recorded or made public. In fact, the Supreme Court has established that former presidents have a continued right to executive privilege, allowing them to keep certain communications confidential, even after they leave office ¹. This privilege is intended to ensure that presidents can receive candid advice from their advisors without fear of disclosure.

However, some presidential communications are recorded and made public through various means. For example, some presidents have voluntarily released recordings of their conversations, while others have been compelled to do so through lawsuits or congressional investigations ². The Presidential Records Act also requires that certain presidential records be made public after a certain period of time.

It's worth noting that different presidents have had varying approaches to recording conversations. For instance, Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first president to make secret sound recordings in the White House, while John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon also secretly taped many of their phone calls and meetings ². Today, around 2,500 hours of White House recordings are open to the public.

*Recordings and Public Access*

- _Voluntary Release_: Some presidents have voluntarily released recordings of their conversations.
- _Lawsuits and Investigations_: Others have been compelled to do so through lawsuits or congressional investigations.
- _Presidential Records Act_: Requires that certain presidential records be made public after a certain period of time.

Overall, while some communications between former presidents and world leaders may be recorded and made public, others remain confidential due to executive privilege ¹ ².

Trump did 2 debates and was questioned extensively on Ukraine and Russian relations. Did he mention he had 7 phone calls with Putin?

A politician speaking with a World leader once, never mind seven times, is very likely illegal unless granted permission by the government. Read the link I provided above for more information.

Good catch! I noticed he wasn't asked or mentioned that the cost of chocolate chip cookies has gone up since he left office either!

And each of these was planned, sanctioned by the US and reported on with transparency.

Secret phone calls to a World leader and enemy of the US without permission is a very different beast.

You genuinely cannot see the difference?

The Logan Act applies to all U.S. citizens, including former presidents, but its enforcement is tricky. The act prohibits unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments regarding disputes or controversies with the United States ¹.

While former presidents are not explicitly exempt from the Logan Act, its application to them is unclear. The Supreme Court has established that former presidents have a continued right to executive privilege, allowing them to keep certain communications confidential, even after they leave office ¹.

There have been instances where former presidents have engaged in diplomatic efforts, like Jimmy Carter's work with the Carter Center and Barack Obama's climate change initiatives. However, whether these actions would be considered violations of the Logan Act is unclear ¹.

It's worth noting that only two individuals have been indicted under the Logan Act since its enactment in 1799, and neither was convicted ¹. The act's constitutionality has also been questioned due to its vagueness and potential infringement on free speech ¹.

*Notable Examples:*
- _Herbert Hoover_: The U.S. government considered prosecuting Hoover for negotiating with European nations over food relief in 1941 ¹.
- _John Kerry_: Kerry was accused of violating the Logan Act for meeting with Iranian officials in 2018, but experts argued his intent was to preserve existing U.S. policy ¹.
- _Donald Trump_: Trump was reported to have contacted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the accuracy of this claim has been disputed ¹.

The Logan Act's applicability to former presidents remains a gray area, with no clear precedent for enforcement.
