In New York if you have a drivers license you can register to vote. I watched a lady from the DMV ask a guy who had a translator with him to register several times. Each time he said no. She was pressuring him to do it. Thousand of illegals openly vote in the state of New York

After looking into it, you might be right.  Your state did have a law in New York City for a while that let non-citizens vote in local elections.  It got smacked down in 2022: New York judge strikes down New York City law granting voting rights to noncitizens | CNN Politics and again in appeal just recently New York appeals court finds law granting non-citizens voting rights is unconstitutional - JURIST - News

Edit to add:  I guess this goes back to my statement that states all do whatever they want and don't have to do what other states do.

So? Speaking fluent English isn't a requirement for citizenship is it?

If you have immigrated legally from another country, yes ma’am it is.

Oh, there are absolutely areas that allow non-citizens to vote on local things.

I should have clarified but I'm discussing federal elections.  President primarily.

So yes, a non-citizen can register for small local stuff in some areas.  Not state or federal.

Which I think is wrong.

There is no desire to get it right.

???   That doesn't speak for me, and I hope it doesn't speak for the majority of people.

Getting it right would entail getting rid of the whole "Voter Registration" system as we have it because it is deliberately flawed.

Deliberately flawed???

Take this case for instance.  It's actually none of my business.  The people that created it and run it is Michiganites like you.  Here in Iowa we can do whatever we want with our own system with whatever flaws we want and no one can do a thing about it.  Same for every other state.  All it would take is a few corrupt localized politicians to change the rules to whatever favors them.  They always start by saying it is broken....

Let's start by getting rid of the flaw that non-citizens can get their votes counted! Sounds like a major flaw to me especially in principle. Let's make the fairest system possible with as few imperfections as possible. It's 2024 and we can make things better.

We are merely days before the election and now people want to try and fix their systems?  We aren't dumb.  There was no interest in fixing it and the only reason it came up now is people want to exploit it's flaws for the current cycle.

I'm only talking about fixing it for future elections at this point.

Well, in that case, I wish you the best of luck.

Personally I think we should just abolish voter registration and go to a national system.
