ReadTheGreatControversyEGW Posted November 2 #1 Share Posted November 2 (edited) Lucifer isn't a friend to mankind. He only cares about himself. A manipulator and a liar about God. This video attempts to recreate with images what the Bible says about the fall of Lucifer in heaven, the war that broke out in heaven, the creation and fall of mankind and God going through it all.. It's a pretty cool video. It addresses a ton of common questions. After watching this video (~40 mins), do you still have questions about why God didn't end Lucifer before he could do anything wrong? cormac mac airt Posted November 2 #3 Share Posted November 2 Lucifer, from 4th century AD Vulgate Isaiah in reference to Nebuchadnazzar II, it’s NOT a name but merely a title “morning star” that Jerome (Eusebius Sophronius Hieronymus) mistranslated as a name. It has nothing to do with angels, Satan or the like. cormac 1

+HerNibs Posted November 2 #15 Share Posted November 2 (edited) So many questions… Why would there be a heavenly government? That would imply dissenting opinions that need to adjudicated. Yeah, all powerful knowing dude wouldn’t need that. What exactly are they governing? According to the bible there weren’t people then. God isn’t very good at creating angels is he? Created flawed perfect creatures? Well that’s dumb. The narrator really gives excellent evidence that god is basically a bad script writer that creates creatures only to love him unconditionally but then gives them the character flaw of choice so he can punish those who he created. Sounds to me like a horrible insecurity. Angels had lightsabers? The only things I’m getting are - God created things in a particular way so he could punish them later. Angels are created f’d up on purpose. God is a sociopath with a big side of narcissism. God wrote a script where he is the dues ex machina because he wrote a crap script and only uses himself to solve issues due to self importance. Satan is hot. I like the dog too. XenoFish Posted November 2 #18 Share Posted November 2 If you can look at this world in all it's beauty and horror, still finding bliss. Then you've done more than the self-righteous. Because no amount of prayer or time lost studying holy text can free you from this world. That is deaths job. Instead those seekers of god waste their time hating themselves, their lives, and those around them. For them this is only pain. Not of body, but of mind. They wish to escape hell, except they have created their own. So take this life in fine measure, for their will always be good and ill. 1

Now that you mention it ... This being whom you insist on calling Lucifer, unbiblically but you cannot sem to gasp that, according to the video (speaking of unbiblical things) God doesn't only create the devil, but puts him in legitimate authority over all the other angels (which is in the Bible where?). Even if I bought that God couldn't kill the traitor because it would frighten the loyal angels ('cause they don't understand the justice of "the wages of sin are death," and they wouldn't love God anymore, but fear him instead and we all know that God wants to be loved and hates it when his creaures fear him ... oh wait ... no, never mind), surely an omniscient being could have foreseen that putting prettyboy in charge was a bad idea. (And to paraphrase @HerNibs query - why is any angel in charge anyway; why would angels need government?) Also, if I understand Revelation (and who does, really?) Satan is eventually going to end up confined forever in some way, so why not confine him right away? Bottom line: The question "why didn't God just kill Satan?" usually isn't a request for information, not after age 15 or so. It's generally a shorthand comment that the whole story is fundamentally incoherent. Because that's what it is. Will Due Posted November 2 #21 Share Posted November 2 (edited) If you enjoy your ability to do, within limits whatever you want, why complain that the same thing applies to those those who are in charge of things in higher places? If you do something in the lines of whatever you want, and it is the wrong thing to have done and it harms many people, are you immediately annihilated? Or are you given time to realize your mistake and adjust whatever went wrong? Edited November 2 by Will Due
Guyver Posted November 2 #22 Share Posted November 2 I think Lucifer/Satan is a make-believe entity created by religious people in order to explain why the world is so deadly. Instead of blaming God for poisonous snakes, mosquitoes, flesh eating bacteria, birth defects, viruses, etc., they can blame it on a make believe enemy of God who wants to kill all people and destroy the earth. That way, people can have religious belief that God is good, even when the world seems evil.

It's a pretty cool video. It addresses a ton of common questions. After watching this video (~40 mins), do you still have questions about why God didn't end Lucifer before he could do anything wrong? I chose to not watch the video because your premise is faulty. The word “Lucifer” isn’t actually in the real Bible. The original Old Testament of the Bible was written in Hebrew, then translated into Greek. The word Lucifer is a Latin word which was inserted into the Bible hundred of years after the fact by Bible translators and editors. Since Latin did not exist as a written language when the Bible was written, this is proof that the word was inserted much later by Latin translators….probably Jerome in the 4th century CE. This fact can be shown by examining the Great Scroll of Isaiah from the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is available online for free for you to study. If you search the passage referenced by Cormac, you will find that Lucifer is not there in the original, or rather….the oldest known copy of the original Bible. 1
Guyver Posted November 2 #25 Share Posted November 2 Additionally, the idea that God is all-powerful and no one else is, means that he can’t have any equals or enemies. Furthermore, if the God you believe in is truly the God of Love and Peace as claimed by the New Testament, then he obviously would not allow war to break out in heaven. I think you believe in a fantasy conflict that never existed, will never exist, and yet you still think it’s real….just like the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It’s not factual, it’s a religious story made up by ancient people from the Bronze Age.
