If this story is accurate, they all deserve to be canned.  You do not do this during a war.

Lincoln fired generals, so did Truman. The head of state can do that.  In a democracy, generals and the head of state can disagree on how to fight a war.  In the end, Netanyahu has the final word.

Using the prosecution of the war and all that is at stake, for political gain is damned near treasonous, IMO.

It could be political or it might be they believe Netanyahu is terribly wrong and will hurt Israel.  In either case, if Netanyahu is in charge, he gets to call the shots. Its also possible that the same argument is being made by both sides, that the war is being prosecuted for  political purposes at the expense of Israeli people. The generals  and their families have every bit as much invested in the survival and flourishing of Israel as Netanyahu does.
