+susieice Posted November 8 #7 Share Posted November 8 43 escaped research monkeys still loose in South Carolina after caretaker failed to shut two doors Police are still searching for 43 monkeys that escaped from a research facility in South Carolina on Wednesday, as the head of the company revealed that the outbreak happened when a staff member failed to secure a door properly. Locals were urged to lock windows and doors and not to interact with the monkeys and instead call 911 immediately upon spotting any of the escaped primates. "These animals are highly sensitive and easily startled, we recommend that the public avoid the area to prevent frightening them further," police said. Police also said Thursday that the monkeys were very young females weighing just 6 to 7 lbs. The company told the police that the animals were too young to carry disease, although it's unclear whether this means they are incapable of contracting disease or simply hadn't been introduced into any clinical trials. 2

simplybill Posted November 8 #15 Share Posted November 8 I’d love to drive to South Carolina and capture a few of those monkeys and smuggle them back to Iowa. There’s about 80 acres (32 ha) of forest across the road from my house. I’d feed them bananas and train them to mow my lawn. 😃

+susieice Posted November 8 #18 Share Posted November 8 As of this afternoon (Friday) none of the monkeys have been captured yet. 43 primates on the loose in South Carolina town after escaping from research lab - ABC News Forty-three primates remain on the loose in a South Carolina town, two days after escaping from a research laboratory, authorities said Friday. As of midday Friday, the monkeys "have not yet been re-captured and returned to their enclosures," a Yemassee Police Department spokesperson said in a statement. The animals have since been seen near the research center, according to the Yemassee police spokesperson. "Current observations show the primates playfully exploring the perimeter fence of the facility, engaging with those still inside by cooing to them," the spokesperson said while urging the public to "stay clear of this area as Alpha Genesis works diligently to safely recover these animals and return them to their habitats unharmed." 1 2

The crime rate in the rest of the country would plummet! Edited November 8 by acute
