Donald Trump’s son has appeared to mock Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelensky over losing their American “allowance” when his father returns to the White House.

In a post on Instagram on Saturday, Donald Trump Jr re-shared a video of Mr Zelensky looking unhappy alongside Donald Trump with the caption: “POV: You’re 38 days from losing your allowance.”

The camera focuses on Mr Zelensky’s face as the video turns to black-and-white and US dollar notes fall in front of the Ukrainian president.

The video was originally posted by Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential nominee.

If the plan is to stop the killing on both sides while reinforcing Ukraine's ability to stop Russia coming back again in the future, I think that may be the best deal they're going to get.  Putin has never wavered and has spent rivers of blood.  Does anyone really think he'll change or that Ukraine will magically be able to defeat a nation several times its population in a war of attrition?

As it stands now we are funneling cash and weapons to them at an  exhausting pace and we're even weakening our own defense.  Stop the killing, get the EU onboard with helping to rebuild their infrastructure and let the US begin investing in mass arms manufacturing of the systems we have seen being used effectively.  Things like 155mm artillery shells, tank shells, and bombs as well as HIMARS-type munitions.  Resupply them and ourselves and show Putin that any new adventures in the region will be prohibitively costly.

Ukraine can win because half of the Russian equipment has already been destroyed, half of the Russian bear's teeth have already been knocked out, so the war must continue for another two years until the Soviet reserves run out, then the occupiers will have nothing to attack with and it will be easier for the Ukrainians to win. For Ukraine, the war for independence has been going on for hundreds of years, since the time of Peter the Great, and we can't get rid of our Russian dependence.

Ukrainians agree to continue fighting until victory, but Putin needs a freeze in order to somehow present victory to his people, strengthen the captured regions and further prepare a plan for invasion because the Ukrainian nation, in his opinion, must be destroyed, this is "denazification", and the territory of Ukraine must be divided into parts. Therefore, if we stop military actions now, we are laying the threat of war in the future because without Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, the Russian empire is incomplete and is trying in every possible way to regain its former strength and territory and will do so because the parasite-empire wants to survive at the expense of others. So the war must be won by Ukraine and this is where the fat point is put and Ukraine enters the EU and NATO.

Putin cannot win the war on his own, so he works through Trump and some European politicians and puts pressure on Ukraine with someone else's hands and we need to withstand this pressure and stand our ground. "A person loses when he refuses to make efforts," and if Ukraine does not make concessions, it will win.

For America and Europe, the money spent is not much, we lose more in the war, but we continue to fight.

When there was a war in Afghanistan, Ukrainians were sent to the most difficult areas because they could win the battle, so all we need is weapons and support, so no matter how many Russians there are, it is not quantity that wins, but quality, spirit and courage, innovations-drones, so do not think that if there are more Russians, they will win, they will lose because they will waste their strength and resources on attacks in a couple of years. And even if Ukraine is retreating now and loses 40-60 km in two years, it can afford it, and Russian resources will be depleted in two years. Once Hitler reached Moscow and lost, Napoleon entered Moscow and lost, so Russia-the occupier will also lose and is now stuck in Donbass, and it was driven out of other regions earlier. If God did not allow Ukraine to be captured at the beginning, then he has a plan for victory, we need to be patient and continue to support Ukraine.

You make a rational case.  I don't think Trump will simply walk away from Ukraine but he is apt to try to end the war sooner and without a complete victory against Russia.  Time will tell.  Perhaps the EU will be able to do more to help.

It is unknown what Trump will come up with, he is still far from taking office as president. Trump's policy may be manual rather than pragmatic and state-oriented. Since the time of Bush, America has been led by presidents who weakly fought Russia and terrorism in the world, so that America's influence has declined to restore order, which has resulted in the rampant terrorism and wars on the planet. Europe also made money trading with Russia, did not invest money in the armed forces, and at the same time Russia was powerfully rearming and accumulated a lot of equipment in warehouses.

It looks like so far that the pressure on Ukraine in terms of surrendering territories is greater than support. Any attempt to freeze the conflict is support for Putin. 63% of our population supports military action.
