The Guardian appears to be quite influential in the UK from what I've read, but members from the UK would know better than I about that.

I was under the mistaken impression you were from the UK.

It's only 'influential' because the BBC defers to it for their news stories, they too are left wing (to a fault). Yes, because they don't pander to the bottom of the pond. They use investigative journalists who look for facts, not populist soundbites. 2
stevewinn Posted November 24, 2024 #35 Share Posted November 24, 2024 News outlets exist to make a profit first and foremost. - each one has their political view and editorial stance. If your view is left Liberal the Guardian is for you. If you're more right conservative it would be the Telegraph. - Both as expected recruit staff and journalist that fit in with their editorial stance to push both their version of politics and world views - and so shock horror people buy their particular brand of news paper based on their own political stance and world views too. no one pays £1.60 to £4.00 to read what they don't already believe in, in short people are not buying news papers to educate themselves. Not one news outlet is balanced in their views, none seek to inform. - they seek to tell you what you should think. The only truth they print is the date.and you have to check that twice.

And in that respect the sales figures tells us a lot about the true political leanings of the Great British public. acidhead Posted November 28, 2024 #37 Share Posted November 28, 2024 A quick glance at The Guardians X page shows that despite having 10.7 million followers their engagement was super low. In fact their most popular post appears to be their last post: "Why the Guardian is no longer posting on X"
