Is our universe fine-tuned for life, or could that be an illusion ?

In my opinion, one of the main problems with the question of what conditions are optimal for the development of life is that no traces have yet been found outside the Earth. Scientists can therefore only model the possible development of extraterrestrial life on the basis of models that relate to Earth. Perhaps a completely different form of life could develop under completely different conditions. The problem will probably only be solvable when traces of life are found on another celestial body.

What a strange article.

The way I perceive it is that life struggles to gain a foothold in the environment that surrounds it, and it is not the environment that is actively in existence to accommodate life.

The statement ‘Our universe would seem to be perfectly tuned to support life’ is demonstrably false for life as we currently know it.  Outside of the Earth, EVERYTHING will kill us.

Further the article makes statements such as:

Quote

We particularly studied how the emergence of intelligent life is affected by the density of "dark energy" in the universe. This manifests as a mysterious force that speeds up the expansion of the universe, but we do not know what it is.

Which is problematic for the simple reason that dark energy is called dark because it is an unknown factor.  Are they referring to a correlation between the emergence of life and the expansion of the universe Which is being accelerated by dark energy?

The whole premise of this article is extremely philosophical, imagining other universes with different amounts of dark energy, or in other words, different rates of expansion.  Which is fine if we consider that terrestrial life is the standard model of life in the universe.  Given how little we know and are able to observe of the universe, this is a leap in logic.  The argument is ultimately flawed because it assumes practically everything.

The "Law of Increasing Functional Complexity" when applied to the beginning of the Universe up until now, instead of just biology shows a developmental path leading up to life.

🤣

Those 'scientists' are not even half smart.

If the universe were fine tuned for life, there wouldn't be gamma ray bursts etc.   Even Earth isn't fine tuned for life - it's just a place where life has managed to grab a precarious hold by chance, despite the odds.

The universe exists in a state of relative equilibrium, punctuated by episodes of catastrophic change.
