Bizarre shapeshifting creature sighting!

So a few months ago I was just doing some minor house cleaning. I walked past the big dinning room window and just happened to glance out. I saw a big shaggy dog in my yard just standing there!

I stood there watching it, hoping it would go away before my dog noticed and had a conniption. When it turned into a bird! The only way I can describe it is it was like the MacOS window minimization effect. The dog sort of flowed into one of its forelegs and down into a bird! It seemed to be a common starling. I fumbled with my phone and tried to take a photo, but it said photo app can't start because of corrupt files or whatever! Then the "bird" flew away.

I don't know if that actually happened or if I just randomly hallucinated! I've never just randomly hallucinated before, but the creature is impossible right?

Sprinkle some bread crumbs in your yard: maybe it will return. It may help to put a blender in your yard as well, because of associative magic.

It isn't your typical skinwalker, they tend to have more "conservation of mass" going on.

If it was clearly seen by me, I would tend to believe something paranormal did happen. I have more faith in my normal sanity than in the belief paranormal things can't happen.

I am convinced shape-shifting is not impossible. I can only wild guess what happened: A wild bird allowed a ghost dog to temporarily possess it?

I once saw a caterpillar shapeshifting to the beautiful butterfly. The mother nature can make wonders.

I like that attitude, it makes sense. I am leaning towards it actually happening, as why would I just hallucinate that? Not to mention I looked at the dog for several seconds and then the bird for maybe two seconds. When I was a kid and very sick with the flue I hallucinated a giant spider, but only for a split second.
