Some of the comments by Americans at the end of the article are pretty fkn stupid and if any of them ever though about coming here they should reconcider as they would not be welcome here.

Donald Trump joked that Canada could become the 51st US state if it wants to avoid hefty tariffs he plans to impose on the nation, according to sources.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined Trump for dinner at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday, for what Trump called a “very productive” three-hour dinner between the two leaders.

@Will Due

Yes Will it is funny but did you read the comments some of your fellow American said about my country? If you think that is funny I feel sorry for you. Did you know we own your northern rail lines or how much businesses like hotels in Florida and Hawaii and other states are owned by Canadians?

I don't have a problem with the average American but keep your dipsh!ts on your side of the border if they can't show respect for their neighbors

HI Will

I am not riled and am just saying respecting others is important if you want respect in return from your allies. I don't take anything your Trump says seriously as he is an airbag but when I read comments by your fellow Americans yes I take of fence and would have no qualms about having a closed door policy for future trade with your country. Just because it is easy to ship product to you doesn't mean we can't ship to other countries.

HI OvetSword

The comments made at the end of the article is what I am talking about I know Trump is a joke and I never speak about your people with such distain but if you want to defend those people's comments go ahead it won't improve my view in any way. Pretty safe for them to talk like that on your side of the border just would advise them to talk like that if they come up here.

Jay, don't tell me you don't know what this is all about. Just like with Mexico, shut down the border on your side!

Like this one?

As a Canadian I can tell you , you only want from Ontario and west. The eastern provinces work just enough to qualify for unemployment and the only worthwhile thing coming our of Quebec are strippers.

HI OverSword

Not doing business with your country would make things difficult for both but not selling you any lumber, oil, potash, uranium or other resources to you would be even worse that you having to pay tarrif rate increases.

I was unaware that Canadians did not have a sense of humor.  So much for the Kids in the Hall.

HI Will

Yes it is about leveraging and the problem with that is that it will cost you personally.

All my intent in the thread was about what some American said that weren't joking and saying that if that is the level of respect American citizens have for others outside of your borders they should not consider ever leaving your country and that is my last comment in this thread

No. It's about your country not doing its job to not let illegal immigration into our country.

HI Will

People entering the border crossing go though American customs and is your job to screen them not ours. Our customs screens people coming into this country.

I wouldn't get fussed about what Americans or others think. If they try to hurt your feelings, just remind them that you can go to hospital and get your hurt feelings checked for free. Your country is far superior in many ways  — universal healthcare, affordable education, unrestricted access to abortion, and a Supreme Court not tethered to any one political party. Besides, Trump should be careful what he wishes for, as the majority of Canadians would not vote for the Republican party.

Considering the entire population of Canada is roughly equal to that of California, it's not very easy to equate the 2...

That said,we can't even get affordable REAL maple syrup in the best of times, under tariffs it would be liquid gold...sadly I'm not even joking <_<

HI Claira

My thought is that individuals that speak like this about their trade partners are the same people that cause the problems in their own backyard and should mind what they say and never be allowed for their own safety to leave the US as it would not be safe for them to talk that way in my country to me face to face and know others here that feel the same way. US has lost a lot of respect in foreign countries because of their attitude about other countries.

My only reason for posting about this was because of how these types of comments affect the way others will see Americans.
