Satanic Temple to offer religious program for elementary school students in Ohio

The Satanic Temple will begin offering a religious program at an Ohio elementary school in response to parent requests for an alternative to a Christian “release” program. Release time religious instruction programs began in the early 20th century to allow students religious instruction for a short period in the middle of the school day. At the Edgewood elementary school in Marysville, Ohio, where the Temple will start a program, the evangelical LifeWise program removes students for 55 minutes each week.

Groups in this category include outlaw motorcycle gangs, extremist groups, drug-dealing organizations, prison inmates, and serial killers. A "satanic cult" is a relatively cohesive group of persons, akin to "self-styled satanists," who subscribe to the perpetration of evil in a variety of ways. These cults are often composed of persons with severe mental and behavioral problems who are attracted to satanism because it condones and encourages antisocial and deviant behavior. "Orthodox satanic groups" are intergenerational as they pass their belief systems, rituals, and coven structure from one generation to the next. Criminal acts attributed to these groups range from kidnapping and drug dealing to ritual child abuse, human sacrifice, and cannibalism. Questions and answers on the material are included.¹

That hasn't had credibility for 30 years and the GC Academy hasn't taught it for that long....but if you want to revive the Satanic Panic.

I strangely don't have a problem with it. Kids who's parents sign them up obviously aren't church going Christians anyway. 

No one should be indoctrinated into religion at public school, but it's tolerated, so.... 

Ohio is a Red State, so wouldn't surprise me if some hypocritical law got passed banning the Satanists activity.

The American witch trials were very insignificant compared to the European ones.  Only 25 people were killed during the Salem Witch Trials¹, and they were stopped once the governor's wife was accused of witchcraft².  The European witch hunts spanned a longer period and killed an estimated 30,000-60,000.  The witch hunts were never as strong in England as in the rest of Europe³.  America has traditionally been more tolerant of religions and witchcraft, because most of the original settlers in Massachusetts were fleeing religious persecution in England.  This is why religious freedom is such a big thing in the United States.  You'll still be found crazy if you go around the school as a lone wolf Satanist, and start bothering little children.

Which is rather interesting. As the picture that was painted to me is that Satan was equal to God. In terms of power and everything. So you had this all good god and all evil god. Bother of whom were at each others throats. Of course for satan to win it has to do nothing but trust human nature. God, being the authoritarian demands sacrifices of all sorts. This makes me question a lot of times which god is the god. The devil is the you do you god and the holy god is daddy's with a belt.

The Satanic Temple agrees with that, which is why it has taken on the religious right's crusade to impose their beliefs on others, tackling issues like prayer in the classroom and after-class Bible study groups. The Satanic Temple itself does not teach satanic religion (they do not worship the devil). Their philosophies and teachings focus on principles like aligning beliefs with scientific facts, respecting the freedoms of others, and acting with compassion.

I already knew of the 11 Rules of the Earth.  Reading the 7 Fundamental Tenets, Satanism makes a lot more sense in the modern world than Christianity, IMO. The reason is that Christianity is based on the Bible, and the Bible contains the Old Testament which paints “God” as a bloodthirsty war god from the mountains of Canaan.  
 

When one reads the 10 Commandments of the Bible, there is no mention of doing no harm to children, but the Satanists have rules about not harming children or animals.  The Bible says got loves the blood sacrifice of animals.  I find that an interesting contradiction.
