Hamas purports to name 34 hostages to be freed; Israel: Meaningless; it’s our list from July

A list of 34 names of Israeli hostages held in Gaza who could be released in the first stage of an elusive ceasefire agreement with Hamas was published by a Saudi news outlet Monday, after the Palestinian terror group apparently leaked the document amid reports that negotiators were moving closer to sealing a potential hostage release and ceasefire deal.

The roster was swiftly downplayed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose office said the list had been given by Israel to the mediating countries in July. On Sunday, reports indicated that Hamas had okayed the months-old lineup while refusing to provide information on the state of the hostages, which Israel insists on getting before any agreement moves forward.

Trump: All hell will break loose in Mideast if no deal; it won’t be good for anyone

US President-elect Donald Trump triples down on his threat that “all hell will break out” if the hostages in Gaza are not returned by his January 20 inauguration.

“All hell will break out in the Middle East, and it will not be good for Hamas, and it will not be good — frankly —for anyone,” Trump says during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. He reiterates that Hamas should have returned the hostages a long time ago, and that it should never have taken them in the first place or carried out an attack on October 7 at all.

'Due to the Zionist aggression,' most Israeli hostages in north Gaza missing, Hamas says

Hamas has lost track of the majority of the hostages held in captivity in northern Gaza due to Israel's military activities in the area, a source in the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, told Qatari state-run media giant Al Jazeera on Friday.

"Most of the enemy's prisoners in the northern Gaza Brigade are now missing due to the Zionist aggression," the source told Al Jazeera.

Hamas has previously repeatedly stated that in order to compile a list of hostages it has been holding, it would need several days to at least a week a week, in order to locate them.
