I really hope that this time the hostages will be released. Who knows how many are actually still alive. I hope all 33.

The piece I just read says Israel will not be leaving the Philadelphi corridor.  IF that's accurate then this deal isn't as horrible as I first thought.  If the IDF has to leave that border then every death of every IDF member will have accomplished nothing lasting.  :(

They have to leave the corridor within 50 days.

There are over 90 hostages still.  The 33 are just the first batch of the deal.

Hamas has agreed, but what about “totally not affiliated with hamas random gangs” have they agreed?

The assumption I'm going with is that there will never be all of the hostages released.  That's part of why this "deal" is such a damnable betrayal of our best ally in the world.

Maybe when they do the swap they should return the terrorists in body bags..

Meh. Ceasefires aren't peace or armistice; they serve a single purpose and are discarded when it is met. They never last. Hostages are the only reason Hamas still exists. If they give up the ones they have now, they'll seize more. Israel knows this. Hamas are walking dead and they know it.

You are waaay too intelligent to actually believe this will lead to peace.  Have you seen the videos of Palestinians celebrating their "victory"?  A big part of this defeat for Israel - and it IS a defeat -  is their refusal to accept the loss of hostages.  I get that, but the truth is that they are simply exchanging one set of citizens for another in the future. :(

The only way that this deal leads to victory for Israel is if Trump is willing to align with them and crush the Islamist demons in Tehran.  That will either be done by Israel or by Israel and the US, OR that regime will announce someday that they have the Bomb.  Imagine the world after that.  If they are forced to allow Hamas to survive then Trump will have betrayed our best ally on the planet.

As of today, 1/16, Hamas is changing their demands and the deal is back on hold.  Trump made a threat before the election and he's going to look foolish even to his supporters if he doesn't follow through.  He didn't say "some of the hostages"  he said THE HOSTAGES will either be released before he is inaugurated OR all hell would break out.  This deal takes six weeks to get 33 hostages out - at best.  Uness he is willing to take extreme measures, economic or otherwise, against Qatar and Egypt, Hamas is still in control and will make him look weak.  I pray sincerely that he is working with Israel to finish Iran's Islamist regime.

We've seen videos of military-age young men celebrating Hamas' "victory".  These men ARE Hamas, and should be taught not to gather in crowds to celebrate.

I just saw this video by a former IDF special forces member.  He takes the stance that this deal is not a loss but rather a strategic move that can lead to a victory, eventually.  I'm not brash enough to say I know better than one in his position but IMO, the only way this leads to victory is if Orange Man Bad is planning to help finally take Iran's mullahs down for good.

This former spec-ops guy for Israel said that may well be done and then after hostages are either released or Hamas breaks the deal, they'll be zapped at that point.

I find it interesting that each Jew is worth 30+ Muslims. Tells you how much each culture values its people.

I hope all the hostages get released.

I'm stunned how Biden is trying to claim a win, and run laps... This wasn't his doing.

Meh. After the hostages are released, all Israel has to do is wait for some Gazan to fire one shot across into Israel, and WHAM ... War is back on. But now Hamas has no leverage of hostages.

Which is precisely why they will never release them all. :(   They're still holding the bodies of a couple from over a decade ago.I think they should demand them all and tell Hamas - and the global media -  that for every single rocket that is launched, the IAF is going to engage in more "urban renewal", especially in the north of Gaza.

I suspect they do.  It's too bad they have no voice in the matter.  I expect to see large crowds of them in the streets celebrating their "victory" over Israel.
