Pizzeria charging whopping $125 per pie to deter customers from this controversial topping

A pizzeria is charging $125 for a standard Hawaiian to deter customers from choosing the controversial pineapple topping.

Lupa Pizza in Norwich, Norfolk, has made their opinion on the topping choice very clear by slapping the hefty price tag for the dish on their Deliveroo menu.

The cheeky menu description reads: “Yeah, for $125 you can have it. Order the champagne too! Go on you Monster!”

When asked why they decided to charge such a large fee, the owner’s answer is simple — they hate pineapple on pizza.

In the off chance some idiot will order it.

When pricing the C-8 Corvette, I discovered Chevy asked a surcharge for certain interior/exterior combinations to discourage what they deemed as too difficult to sell on the used market.

Stupid.

I never understood the hatred towards pineapple pizza.

If you don't like it don't order it.

Not sure but I think it's against the law in Italy.  Torches, lynch mobs, the whole nine yards...

I love the Hawaiian style pizza, and the pineapple on top is great.  Anchovy pizza, not my jam.

I am not a fan of having anything sweet on a pizza unless it is a dessert pizza but that is just me, some people like it and others don't; however to punish potential customers with horridly inflated prices on a pizza with pineapple just because the business owners don't like it is unethical and probably illegal.

However I am not sure this article is real...

Yeah, but only Warnie would've paid that price.

There is no law they have to even have pinapple in their shop, much less on the menu.   Just hubris!   Silly man wanted some attention.

Reminds me of COVID. One of the local supermarkets was selling toilet paper in individual rolls. First roll was 99 cents, second roll was $99. Gimmicky

It just shows how easy it is to influence opinion.

In work we end up having these conversations, and the other one is KFC Gravy or Beans. Apparently the "right" answer is gravy, I’ve actually watched people who prefer beans say gravy because they perceive the majority of the group going with gravy. - and we are talking about grown **** men here aged between 32 and 55. Gammon and Pineapple is another controversial one. Its a good laugh and banter at the end of the day.

But as i say i live in a world where i don’t have to choose. I can have it all.

Edit to add. I like Hawaiian Pizza. I switch between that and the hot and spicy on the menu.

What makes it a Hawaiian pizza then, that famous Hawaiian signature product, ham?

I tried anchovy topping once - or at least I tried to.  Waaaaay too salty for my taste.

And if you are a Pizzeria and you don't like pineapple...don't serve it.  You can't buy what they are not selling!

…and pineapple. But the controversy for me is the sauce they use as a base. BBQ sauce is the best
