WASHINGTON, Feb 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Thursday to sanction the International Criminal Court for targeting the United States and its allies, such as Israel, a White House official said. The order will place financial and visa sanctions on individuals and their family members who assist in ICC investigations of U.S. citizens or U.S. allies, said the official.

It's nice to see someone calling them out in a serious way for their hate and overreach.

The ICC has absolutely no power whatsoever and they're just another worthless international body of parasites.

US President Donald Trump issued sanctions to members of the International Criminal Court through an executive order on Thursday evening as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrapped up his day meeting with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

Trump said the ICC abused its power by issuing "baseless arrest warrants" targeting Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, according to the order. "The ICC has no jurisdiction over the United States or Israel, as neither country is a party to the Rome Statute or a member of the ICC," the order said. "Neither country has ever recognized the ICC's jurisdiction, and both nations are thriving democracies with militaries that strictly adhere to the laws of war."

Top criminal court condemns US sanctions on officials

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has vowed to continue its judicial work after US President Donald Trump signed an order to impose sanctions on its staff. The ICC said it "stands firmly" by its personnel and the order seeks to harm its "independent and impartial" work.

Trump's order accuses it of "illegitimate and baseless actions", after the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over alleged war crimes in Gaza, which Israel denies. The ICC also issued a warrant for a Hamas commander.

Well Done Donald. These international bodies are a sham. - moved so far away from their original remit, weaponised by our enemies to work against us and our culture, actively undermining the notion of Nation state.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan will be the first person hit with US sanctions on war crimes tribunal

International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan is the first person to be hit with economic and travel sanctions authorized by US President Donald Trump that target the war crimes tribunal over investigations of US citizens or US allies, two sources briefed on the matter told Reuters on Friday.

Khan, who is British, was named on Friday in an annex - not yet made public - to an executive order signed by Trump a day earlier, a senior ICC official and another source, both briefed by US government officials, told Reuters. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a confidential matter.

The sanctions include freezing of US assets of those designated and barring them and their families from visiting the United States.

Good.  Hopefully, he's only the first member of that court to be sanctioned.  The sanctions should bite every member.  In fact, it might be time to sanction any nation that attempts to enforce rulings from that illegitimate body.

This seems a kick in the teeth to Ben Ferencz and his great work.

But criminals don't like laws or prosecutors do they.

Ironic. A criminal shutting out a court. Not a surprise though is it. Trump has always clearly considered himself above the law.

If Netanyahu and Gallant are "war criminals" then every political leader who has ever prosecuted a war at any time in history is also a war criminal.  The "genocide" claim is nothing more than a blood libel and those who advocate for it are disgusting, frankly.

Hey AT… reading comprehension WAS taught to your generation.
The guy copping the first sanctions? Investigated/seeks to prosecute Putin.

You know, the guy who is trying to ethnically cleanse Ukraine and has the ohh so charming nickname of “the Butcher of Groznei”.

In fairness to AT, I too assumed you were referring to Netanyahu as you did not specify. But yes, Putin was a good call by "the guy copping the first sanctions", who also happens to be the same guy the ICC is having investigated over accusations of sexual misconduct.

I felt there wasn’t a need as the article specifically mentioned Vladdy P.

Fair enough, but the sanctions were imposed primarily because of how the ICC has targeted Israel, which is why we assumed you were referring to Netanyahu. No worries though, the misunderstanding has now been cleared up.
