Back to plastic!' Donald Trump says he'll end Biden's 'ridiculous' paper straw rule

President Donald Trump has sparked widespread celebration among fast food customers as he announced the return of plastic drinking straws.

Trump has long been a critic of efforts by environmentalists and Democrats to ban plastic straws, complaining that the paper replacements are terrible.

Over the last several years many major food outlets, including McDonald's, experimented with a move to paper, which was met with a fierce backlash from some customers.

'I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don’t work,' Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday. 

He added: 'BACK TO PLASTIC!'

YAY! I hate paper straws! I've used the same plastic straw for about four months. I have a teeny brush that fits down in them to wash them. I still have a stash but why waste them?

They are that bad. They start falling apart before the drink is even finished. It goes along with Biden's war on gas appliances and trying to force EV's on people. He is the one that wasted time on plastic straws. It cost companies lots of money too. They had to invest in new equipment to make them.

I don’t know what to say. I don’t drink from straws enough to get excited either way. I very really drink anything other than water. I agree plastic straws are better but for the purpose of a one off thing it does the job 🤷‍♂️

I drink everything with a straw except coffee. If I ask someone at a party to hand me my drink they don't even have to ask which one is mine.

Once gain, this demonstrates the weakness of American technology - Australian Paperstraws can be soaked in water before falling apart! As long as you don’t chew on rhe end of rhe straw like a teething toddler, you’ll get all of your drink down before needing to replace the straw.

Paper straws are supposed to be good for the environment, you know, cut down on microplastics, but I really hate paper straws. They suck! Pun intended. 

Anyway, I rather do without paper straws.

It's a backwards step. Paper straws existed before plastic ones. He needs to make paper straws great again. 

 

Tackling the important issues before getting to campaign promise I see. Cheap groceries? Let's get straws sorted first.

I bought a set of steel straws a while ago with one of those brushes.  I've only ever needed 1 of them so far since it works so well.

Biden banned plastic straws?  Source please.  My wife and I go out to eat at least 3 times a week.  I think the only time I have ever used a paper straw was on vacation in Myrtle Beach.
