Trump: If all hostages not released by Saturday, Gaza ceasefire should be canceled

If all the hostages held in the Gaza Strip are not returned by Saturday at noon, the ceasefire deal should be cancelled, US President Donald Trump said on Monday. "If all the Gaza hostages aren't returned by Saturday at 12 p.m., I would say cancel the ceasefire. Let all hell break loose; Israel can override it," he said.

Trump's statement came just hours after Hamas announced on its Telegram account that it had canceled the release of hostages on February 15 until further notice due to an Israeli violation. Following the announcement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu consulted with top security officials, and the security cabinet will convene later on Tuesday morning.

This seems perfectly fair, given the fact that the hostages have been raped and tortured.

The Israeli government, IMO, should take full advantage of this opening.  They should tell the negotiators in Qatar that the new deal since evidence of horrific inhumane torture has been flaunted by Hamas, is the release of all living hostages by noon local on Saturday.  Failure to comply will end the ceasefire and a full evacuation of the north and center of Gaza will be the only guarantee of civilian life in the future.  With the single exception of the very young children, there are NO "civilians" and the IDF needs to finish turning all habitable structures into rubble, and then make the rubble bounce.

Once that is accomplished, Trump can make his offer of resettlement again.  I don't understand why he demanded a truce/ceasefire to begin with because it will definitely cause more IDF troops to be killed when they go back in but his change of heart should be taken full advantage of.  Israel should forget about the howling of the world and do their version of "shock and awe".

BS "deal" from the word go...

The civilian women and children were to be released first from every single source I have read from the beginning of the agreement...that is not what has transpired at all.

Now seeing a handful of the male hostages being released looking like Holocaust victims tells the tale of exactly as I predicted, far less hostages are alive in any type of "living" condition than intelligence believed,Hamas got some of the major "players" back already early in this "deal" than they ever should have and are now scrambling trying to buy some time to find a few more scragglers amongst the still living hostages.

Watching the throngs of crowds during these hostage releases of men, women, and even children amongst the "peaceful'stinians" should tell anyone all they need to know...

Israel needs to get over the whole "every life is precious" nonsense when capturing known terrorists and murderers!...No more life sentences, only to in turn encourage future hostage taking of 1 for 100 in return deals.

Totally. Hamas is still holding on to the Bibas children and their mother. Alive or dead, they are their biggest bargaining chips.

Israel should have adopted a hostage non-negotiation stance with Hamas a long time ago. The more they compromise to get the hostages back, the more Hamas and other terror groups will continue to kidnap civilians and military personnel.

Israel has said that it will adhere to the hostage release and ceasefire deal with Hamas if the terror group releases the sixth group of hostages on Saturday in accordance with the terms of the deal. Three hostages are scheduled to be freed on Saturday if Hamas withdraws its threat to suspend further releases.

I don't believe they have many chips left, just throwing out "hope" to try and prolong Israel's grief...

Hope Trump keeps his word when the inevitable time arrives and stays out of Israel's way.

Hamas simply enjoys psychological warfare. They had no basis to accuse Israel of breaking the agreement (even the UN said aid was flowing into Gaza as per the agreed upon terms). But Hamas is no doubt concerned about Trump's plans for the region and has decided to play games.

Just saw this on The Guardian's live coverage section on the Middle East:

Israeli minister backs Trump's plan to 'let hell break out' on Gaza if Israeli hostages are not released by Saturday

Israel’s communications minister, Shlomo Karhi, has backed Trump’s call to “let hell break out” on Gaza if all the remaining Israeli captives are not released by Saturday.

In a post on X he said: "The response must be exactly as President Trump suggested. Completely halt humanitarian aid, cut off electricity, water and communications and use brutal and disproportionate force until the hostages return. It is time to open the gates of hell on Hamas – and this time, without any restrictions on our heroic fighters."

It appears Hamas wants to go back to the previously agreed upon releases this weekend after all...

This scum is trying to play games to get more concessions.

Call it what you like.  The reality is that "war crimes" committed by Hamas were no issue at all for a large number of nations because they were "only killing Jews".  Those days appear to be over, finally.  I fully support Israel doing whatever it needs to do to end this existential threat to their people and nation.  They should take full advantage of Trump's statement while they can.  Those who are returning north, KNOW that Hamas fighters are going as well.  It's time for the average Palestinian to decide if they're willing to die as a result of supporting these demons.  If they aren't then they'd better damned skippy move south at the best available pace.

So be it.  I hope Hamas will let the rest of them go or at least keep the deal as it is for now.  If they refuse then I hope the IDF goes absolutely ROMAN on them until they beg for quarter.

Starved, threatened and abused: Parents of freed Hamas hostages give details of ordeal

Parents of four young female Israeli hostages freed from Hamas captivity in Gaza have told the BBC about how their daughters were abused, including being starved, intimidated and threatened by armed men, and forced to cook and clean. They recounted how the hostages were held in underground tunnels and buildings, witnessed physical abuse and were made to participate in Hamas propaganda videos, including, in one case, by faking her own death.

I see they are releasing 3 more male hostages this weekend...

The original agreement was all civilian women and children first.

They have the nerve to say Israel isn't sticking to the agreement, yet they have breached it from the beginning.

I thought they were committed to releasing women and children first.  If they release the Bibas family as bodies, Israel should finish destroying everything left standing in Gaza.

Yes, civilian women and children were the start of the deal.

Kind of strange the 5 female soldiers,a handful of civilians including foreign workers, and now if tomorrow stays status quo from last weekend,6 starved tortured males released for roughly a thousand plus known murderers and terrorist released...

I can only shake my head, won't bother saying what I really think on this one.

I thought this was noteworthy as news for the region:

This is part of the force that is supposed to provide a guarantee that Hizballah will not retake south Lebanon.  I'm feeling less than confident.

Interesting opinion piece:

Hoodwinked: How Hamas influenced int'l media to not cover emaciated hostages
https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-842000

Gaunt Jews do not play into the narrative of the world media, which has bought into Hamas’s deliberate strategy of painting Gazans as victims and Israelis as aggressors.

Shortly after Trump's message, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Herzi Halevi said that the IDF is making "immense efforts" to bring all the remaining hostages back to Israel "while simultaneously preparing offensive plans."

https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-842227

It's not clear what the Israelis are planning as far as next steps are concerned, but the process is slow and a significant number of hostages are still being held. Israel knows that Hamas has no intention of releasing all of the hostages, because the minute they do, it's game over for them. The other concern is that Hamas will continue to buy time so that it can regroup and rearm. Israel cannot continue this way, and I'm glad Trump will back whatever decision the Israelis decide to make.

Tempting as that might be, and it's tempting alright, Israelis on the whole have an aversion to capital punishment.

After what happened on October 7 and what we are seeing now with the exchange of hundreds of Palestinian criminals and terrorists in exchange for a mere handful of innocent hostages, I would not be surprised if many Israelis, like the rabbi who wrote that opinion piece, are having a change of heart. Time and time again, many released Palestinians have gone on to kill more Israelis than the number of hostages saved.

Sinwar is a case in point. He spent 22 years in prison until his release with more than 1,000 others in a 2011 prisoner exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. He then went on to mastermind the October 7 massacre and look where we're at now. Exchanging so many Palestinians for just one soldier was the worst mistake Israel ever made as it not only set a bad precedent, it ultimately resulted in the death of hundreds upon hundreds of Israeli civilians and soldiers. The Israelis should have focused on rescuing the hostages, rather than negotiate with Hamas for their release.

I understand that, but a certain threshold at some point has to be crossed...I would think 10/7 was that point.

Can't remember the guys name, but remember hearing it years back,he has been pointed out as possibly the next Sinwar and he was released during the first exchange I believe.

Really hope that Israel chipped these ass holes in their sleep so they are never truly safe and hidden.
