I also have to add a few more capable dogs I feel like I'm singling out the pitbull and there's no reason to do that ...as they are actually a very man friendly breed (and in my opinion the perfect dog) ...tosas, filas, dogos, pinchers, shepards ect... are all capable doing alot of damage ...and I would like to see any of you fine gentlemen take 1 on ...and see how much recostructive surgery you're going to need after you kill it with your bare hands lol

How long to you think it would take for somebody qualified to control the animal to show up on a playground? I'm reckless? I'm not the one advocating any idiot firing a handgun on playground full of children. See this is my point with you pro gun folks you seem to think that everybody carrying is actually qualified to carry a handgun and use it effectively. I for one don't want anybody firing a gun on playground or anywhere else for that matter unless they are actually competent enough to use it properly, there is too much of risk of serious injury and loss of life involved.

well lets see for a break in it takes the cops about 2 hours to show up so you tell me ...on gator incidents out here in florida it takes the fwc about 3 hours to show up so I don't see it being much different with a dog ....if you read anything I said before you would have seen that I said ...that it may not be the case but I belive any 1 who is legally armed should have plenty of practice (and most do) and a clear understanding of what guns do (and most do) ....lets hope you never need the help of a legally armed citizen ...god knows you might feel kind of well ...stupid? ...most armed citizens are competent and know what they're doing with their fire arms ...or are you worried about a 13 year old punk illegally armed ...then by all means you're right ...most gun owners don't buy a gun and then boom I got a gun .....no ...we practice and many are actively involved in shooting sports and many other aspects of the sport ...I myself help with and support any local events dealing with fire arms as an NRA member ...the average gun owner ..is not a imcompetent hill billy with a shot gun and a itchy trigger finger it seems like thats you're idea of 1 though ...and by the way ...most cops aren't even trained to handle situations right and that is an ever increasing problem ...(for example the 45 min shoot out in cali, which a 12 year old with a 22lr would have easily put to an end lol) ...police instructors today are horrible and the standards of what makes a well trained officer are pitiful

Long enough for a dog to be able to maul all of the children if nobody saw it in time.

See this is my point with you pro gun folks you seem to think that everybody carrying is actually qualified to carry a handgun and use it effectively.

and all the pessimistic anti-gun folks seem to think that most people are idiots. Alot of them, yes, most of them... we'd be in total chaos if everyone was a complete utter moron. The socialist state is trying very hard to make everyone a total complete moron, but most are trying to bring back personal responsibility.

Again. 30 years ago it wasn't a problem. It was a class in school. Bring your own gun to school. The problem was non-exsistant.

Focusing on Guns is a distraction from the social problems brought on by our socialist state and media.

Media has been reporting the worst of Every case, in Every country. Can you point to 1, ONE major media story of a gun being used to save lives that didn't also mention, Highlight even, *something* about the eeevvvilllls of guns?

any 1 who is legally armed should have plenty of practice (and most do) and a clear understanding of what guns do (and most do)

most armed citizens are competent and know what they're doing with their fire arms ...or are you worried about a 13 year old punk illegally armed

It's paranoia. Somehow they think it's the wild west over here, I've heard the term "ticking time bomb" in the media and then regurgitated here. people scared of their own shadow and then try to label normal citizens as the paranoid ones because the want to own a gun.

If a person decides to take an umbrella with them, does that mean their paranoid of rain? I'd say they're just better prepared.

No onep0int, I don't think anybody who carries a gun is a hillbilly with an itchy trigger finger, but you can't assume that everybody who carries is competent either. I know plenty of people who have guns who are very competent, but I also know many who aren't and by no means should they have a handgun anywhere near by.

I just witnessed the aftermath of a shooting just yesterday in my tiny hometown. Some greasy redneck got upset with his wife and shot her in the parking lot of the local convenance store. Thankfully she wasn't killed and the ambulance and police showed up in time to arrest him (which is when I came about the scene). The guy was drunk and lost his temper, simple as that. If he didn't have that handgun she wouldn't have been shot, judging from how busy that place usually is there would have been more than enough people nearby to restrain him if he tried to physically attack her.

As I have stated time and time again I have no problem with responsible gun owners, I've mentioned that in most of my initial posts in this topic. I do however have a problem with people like the above mentioned fellow having access to a handgun. If we can assure that they don't wind in the hands of guys like this I wouldn't have the slightest problem with people carrying them.

was the gun registered to him? did he have a concealed weapons permit to legally carry his handgun on him? ...those are all factors ..another 1 is ..by law you're not allowed to drink and carry your gun ..or better said it's illegal to be drunk and armed ...there's places you can and cannot bring your gun to ...these all factors ...you have scum every where ...and chances are the "greasy redneck" was scum ....chances are his wife was scum ....and things escalated to that point ....you can't blame guns ...the person is to blame ..so before we go around banning guns ...maybe we should focus on the lack morality that is increasing in our country ...I have a friend who I tell repeadtly he should not own a gun ..he's an emotional wreck at all times and has depression problems for his safety and others he should not and doesn't have 1 ...but banning guns is far from the solution ...gun control is far from the solution

I haven't heard weather or not the gun was registered to him or not. If I hear anything I'll let you know, word spreads pretty fast in small town america. I agree I think it comes down to us as a people not pushing the proper morality on people, as well as a myriad of other social problems. My point is, how do we ensure that handguns don't wind up in the hands of people who are unbalanced and completely unqualified to carry them? I know many people who are armed to the teeth who shouldn't be allowed to own guns, yet they have them and bought them all legally.

I think gun control is the answer myself, we already have it too some extent and there are safeguards out there preventing people who shouldn't have them from getting ahold of them. I personally don't think we are doing enough and until we can fix our social issues I don't believe that people should be allowed to carry them unless it's absolutely necessary and it can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will be responsible with them.

However I think it would be easier just to get rid of them all together instead of putting all of the time and money forward needed to properly regulate them.

you can't ensure it ....how do you think criminals get their hands on guns? ...a gun store? ..no way ...guns are all over the streets I can turn the corner right now and buy everything I already own (which is quite abit to quote you I am armed to the teeth lol) for half the price if not less ...as much as you guys would love to think that it would stop guns getting into the hands of unqualified individuals it wont ...guns are already on the street ....they have been and never will stop circulating through the streets ....it's a fact you have live with and I have no problem doing so I am a responsible legally armed civilian

I totally agree with you on the cops issue. It is the same over here.Scary if you consider that they are the ones responsible for your security.

And I do think it is a social problem. If you get rid of the rednecks mentioned above you won t have a problem in the first place.Banning guns could make the situation better,I won t deny that, but the problem is still there.Only without a gun.If you take the gun away from a psycho,he still will be a psycho.Ban the guns if you wish to,but don t forget to get rid of the psychos afterwards.

gun control is far from the solution

So...on one hand...you acklowledge that their are people who should not own guns...and on the other, you say that there should be no control over guns? huh.gif

Doesn't it instead follow that far greater steps should be taken to ensure that guns stay out of the hands of the very people who you admit "shouldn't have them"?

Absolutely in denial about the danger guns pose...it's worrying...in fact, when you see a gun being abused, your first reaction is to say that not only was the shooter "scum", but the person he shot was "scum" as well!? Not "why on earth did my country allow that man to own a gun to start with?"

yeah and lets get rid of knives chains forks pencils pens bats and everything else that can be used as a weapon too lol

This arguement keeps cropping up, and I'm getting fed up of saying it, because it's one of the most ridiculous things I hear from the "I love guns, and you can't take them away from me, even though people are getting shot left right and center" camp...

Knives, chains, forks, pencils, pens, bats and "everything else that can be used as a weapon" were not designed for that purpose....a gun was. The above can certainly be improvised into a weapon...but they are nothing like as dangerous as a gun, and a close encounter with one is nowhere near as likely to result in death as one with a gun.

I still just don't understand you people...you say "oh, the psychos would still be there", and somehow, in your utterly warped reality, that makes it an excuse to make it so horribly easy for them to pick up the most efficient means of killing another human being we have? It's absolute madness....and it's absolutely terrifying that you people can't see that it's madness.

yeah let me ask you something how are you going to control those people who should not have guns when they will get them anyways ..of course there's people who should not have guns but are you personally going to go through the streets and get rid of every single illegal fire arm out there ...you liberals crack me up ....the control of legally sold and bought fire arms will solve nothing ...hence it's not the answer ...have guns banned ....lets see how many guns will still float around in the streets ...how the statistics will remain .....I'd like to see a fearful liberal as yourself in a close encounter with a man armed with a 12" bowie knife and see how dangerous you think it is then

hmm I wonder in the middle ages (before and after too) did people complain about banning swords for the fear of having 1 rammed into their face hahaha

the madness comes from all of you liberals ....it's nice be fed with a silver spoon and convice yourself ...everythings OK!! ...just get rid of the guns and everything will be OK!

old arguement, but i haven't waded in on it for awhile.

i must be one those mad, crazed, useless liberals, ooooh, bad liberal, evil liberal.

evil to think banning guns altogether would be of benefit.

horrible to think on the grand solution than the tiny one.

your arguement of. "well they've got one so i have to have one" is childish, and just the way the gun lobbyists want you to think.

hiding behind your 200 yr old constitution is idiotic, it was put there in case the british invaded, well they didn't and aren't going to, so you don't need it.

i saw some footage the other night of some guy in detroit, i think, holed up inside a house with a few guns screaming at the police, "it's my constitutional right to bear weapons" yeah, the guy had allready shot some other poor schlub and was now ready to shoot it up with the police, and he thought he was in the RIGHT because of your constitution.

you americans seem to live in fear.

fear keeps you believing that everyone should have the right to bear arms.

fear makes you believe the invasion of other countries is necessary.

fear makes you think there is somebody around the corner with a 12" bowie knife.

well, stop letting your media and politicians scare you.

you're thoughts and beliefs , for the most part, are 200 yrs behind the rest of us.

guns should be banned, only carried by law enforcement officers and military personnel.

and IF you then put in current laws, that gave harsh penalties to people even carrying a weapon, i mean 10 yrs at least, the people you're afraid of would not be around the corner, they'd be in jail, well, 3/4 of your country would be in jail.

and if it came down to it, i'd rather bump into someone with a knife, than a gun, i might stand a bit of a chance then.

but probabaly not, cause i'm a mad, evil, no good for the world, devil.gif liberal!

ooooh boooooo hissss

great rebuttal onepoint, your debate team must be proud of you.

i don't get your harper reference.

and i know i cannot change your mind, i think it's only amercians that see the word, or label, liberal as an evil one.

yeah, it must be bad to look at the whole argurment, to try to understand all sides of the picture, instead of having your one sided, narrow minded, bias, to all things that seem to make the world a nastier place to live in.

IF an american president, ever had the balls, to not be influenced by the gun industry, to not take payoffs from the lobbyists, and to ban guns outright, it would still never happen.

because all the right wing nuts like yourself would be walking the streets shooting into the air telling the government, it has no right to take away your "precious".

that government can't tell you what to do, but it can go into other countries and tell them what to do.

you right wing knobs, use the government when it suits your needs, when it goes your way. you live in the past, and have no sense of the word trust.

you believe freedom lies in the barrells of guns and the prisons of religion, you're even afraid of the metric system for god's sakes.

onepoint, go down to your local ammo dealer, load up, and wait for the anarchy, it's what you want.

You admit that there are people who shouldn't carry guns yet you still think gun control is a bad idea? You would rather have the right to keep all of your precious weapons than make sure that unbalanced individuals can't get hold of them? Of course guns will still wind up in the streets if we ban them but not at the levels they are at right now. Pretty much any idiot can go to the gun store and buy a gun providing they have no criminal background, shouldn't there be stringent regulations in place to ensure that this can't happen?

So now that your pro gun argument is beginning to crumble you attack the liberals and call them all whinny little girls? You than proceed to assume that anybody who is anti gun would just run scared when threatened with a knife. I've run across people like that before and I've simply disarmed them, and guess what, no blood, no death. Stop making assumptions about us being "whinny liberals" it makes you look desperate and sad.

great rebuttal onepoint, your debate team must be proud of you.

i don't get your harper reference.

and i know i cannot change your mind, i think it's only amercians that see the word, or label, liberal as an evil one.

yeah, it must be bad to look at the whole argurment, to try to understand all sides of the picture, instead of having your one sided, narrow minded, bias, to all things that seem to make the world a nastier place to live in.

I was waiting for that lol...I'm not a right wingest ...but I belive in morality ...which you liberals lack ....but your right on 1 thing I don't trust everyone and you shouldn't sorry if that seems retro ...but I've learned the hard way that putting your trust in everyone is an idiotic thing to do ....I don't belive freedom lies in the barrel of gun ....I belive a tasty deer, hog, turkey, dove, quail ect... does ...but it's freedom that allows me to carry my gun for protection as well ....and as for religion hahahaha you're sadly mistaken there with me I am so against religion that it's sickening laughter I went through as I read that .....see thats the twisted view of gun owners you have ...that they want anarchy ....are you truly that stupid? ..you liberals never cease to amaze me ...it's that you seriously have no factual basis for anything at all what so ever that you guys cry about ...you'd cry just to cry it seems ...lets all take a bow for the socialists!!! haha

my arguement hasn't crumbled you guys haven't produced 1 single arguement that makes sense ....I've already stated my reason to why gun control wouldn't work regardless of if there's people who shouldn't be armed ....you're just too wrapped up in your ideals to see it ....and I call you guys liberals for fun ...because yall do cry it's that simple ....if you don't like something you whine and you cry about it until something is done ...or until the cops beat the crap out of you in 1 of your protests lol and then you cry about that

it seems like what you guys do is push and push ...so some 1 snaps and goes ..all you liberals should be killed!!! ...so you can go ...see thats what we're talking about!! ..with that frame of mind you shouldn't be allowed to own a fire arm ...and with me ..you wont get that ....at all ....I don't belive that ...I belive you should open your eyes to the ways of the world ...and stop living in a candy coated vision of our planet where every 1 loves each other and every 1's happy ...it's not like that ....if thats the case communism would have worked in cuba years ago
