Althalus Posted June 17, 2003 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2003 LONDON (AFP) - Abusive and violent patients in a British hospital will be penalised with a "football-style" disciplinary system involving red and yellow cards. The University Hospital in Birmingham, central England, said patients who verbally abuse staff will be warned about their behaviour with a yellow marker attached to their medical notes. Patients who physically attack staff will have their right to treatment withdrawn and their notes marked with a red sticker. I'd bet if it weren't for the football (english) angle, it would not have made the news at all. I wonder if Canadian hospitals will follow suit and make patients take a 2 minute break in a penalty box for unruly conduct. Where is Roy Romanow when you need him? "You go to the box. You feel bad."
