Kismit Posted June 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2005 (edited) Righty, let's take this back to the begining. You've never heard of Janis Joplin. I bet you have. With such classic songs as, "Me and Bobby Mcgee", trend setting lines like..."Freedom's just another word for, nothing left to lose" Songs like " Broken english", the first ever female screamer, she so rocked. C'mon you must of heard of her? Oh and I love Franz-ferdinand. Travis are a little slow these days allthough I liked there earlier stuff. "Yellow" was very funky. snuffypuffer Posted June 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2005 It's a lament for old school rock, methinks. And Coldplay did "Yellow," dear, not Travis.
Kismit Posted June 14, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted June 14, 2005 (edited) Thank-you Snuffy, I am getting old, my memories going too as for everyone else. Walken Posted June 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2005 As if a mod ever has the guts to lock a topic of KISMITS! I don't really like Franz Ferdiand - They have one or two good songs but now they're all prettey boring.
Talon Posted June 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2005 (edited) Talon, Sheesh,, how old do you have to be? 22 Why am I being singled out like this? Lots of people have probably never heard of them, but its isn't posted on its own thread and made to sound like they're ignorant. Particularly a thread entitled 'Talon, Sheesh,, how old do you have to be?'. As your opening post shows your making a joke at me not knowing bands who were around before I was born, and I understand you do not mean to cause offense. But to every other person who reads the title but doesn't read the content, it instantly sounds like A MOD is questioning my maturity. If you had wanted to tell me about the band you could have just sent me a PM, and I will indeed be able to have conversation of it on PM, but not do this. Edited June 14, 2005 by Talon S. Kismit Posted June 14, 2005 Author #12 Share Posted June 14, 2005 Talon , noted I apologise and shall rectify it immediately. Your a good poster and I'm sorry I offended you, I thought that we could joke because we have known each other for a while. And I never realised the mods where seen as so brutish. Talon Posted June 14, 2005 #13 Share Posted June 14, 2005 For Talon, a discussion as a friend. Thankyou much better. Okay, so now that we've cleared that up. Your a good poster and I'm sorry I offended you, I thought that we could joke because we have known each other for a while. I wasn't offended, I was just more worried about what people were thinking reading that. Like I said, I knew you weren't being hostile and just joking around, its just the original title was just a little..... um you know... So, who is Janis Joplin and why is she so great? I do recognise the lyrics Essan posted from an advert a few years back; but I've never heard the names. I prefer Disturbed myself but they are quite different Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz? My friends all drive Porches, I must make amends. Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends. So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercesdes Benz? VS Step up! Cause you're the next one in line for the kill. You don't believe me but I'm betting that you will. Step up! I'll let you live a little bit with the pain that I bring. You know it's only the beginning. Step up! Kismit Posted June 14, 2005 Author #15 Share Posted June 14, 2005 (edited) Lol Talon, no all the more reason to Listen to Janis. She was a rebel not a hippy but probably the first ever female rock queen. And her lyrics where great. Of course like most people in her day , *Jim Morrison , *Jimmy Hendrix both good friends of Janis's , she took to many drugs and ...well...I'm sure the 3 of them party hard in heaven together. * I'm pretty sure you've heard of these people in Scotland. If you haven't though I won't mind explaining for you edited to move Subby's locking Finger.... I'm watching you Edited June 14, 2005 by Kismit

Talon Posted June 14, 2005 #17 Share Posted June 14, 2005 I'm pretty sure you've heard of these people in Scotland. If you haven't though I won't mind explaining for you I know the names Jim Morrison & Jimmy Hendrix. Can't for the life of me thing of what they've done. Its likely one of these situations were you've heard a song, but know who did it. My dad's, for example, favourite song is Baker's Street, plays it all the time. I have no idea who sung it. I'm afraid music has never really interested me, I don't listen to the charts, to music shows etc I tend just to get Sera, Shady or someone else hand me a CD saying you'll like this... or I hear it on a WWE PPV.
