you do realise that Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were an offshoot of the NVA/Vietcong?

regardless it avoids the main issue, why support regimes like that? i can understand for example during the cold war if there was a worse alternative, ie the various rightwing governments in South America that recieved US support, for the US at least, better than having more Nukes pointed at it ala Cuban Missile Crisis

When you are as far to the left as you are, anything right seems 'far right' . The truth is Bathory, myself and most of us on the 'right' are just average people...we aren't far anything.

Well that was a real sound answer. I didn't think that aggressive, hateful, pro-war, inbred yankees could write in complete sentences. But hey, I was wrong.

Please, before you snap back at me, just read you post again.

1. I am from Texas...I am not a yankee....inbred? No. ...nor do I stoop to the level of name calling when I disagree with someone.

2. It was a sound answer and I stick by it.

3. I'm not snapping back at you. You couldn't be more wrong about the media. They are left...extremely...you just listen with one ear I guess. Consider the following...if this was Gore's war in Iraq...would the press be propping up and promoting Cindy Shehann? I don't think so.

818367[/snapback]

Gore is even worse than Bush. Just like Clinton. Democrats do things more in the shadows than the Republicans. (for example Clinton and Kosovo 98). Bush and alike are more openly aggressive and fanatic, and therefore their doings are more easy to follow.

The Democrats have actually done more damage to the non-American parts of the world that the Republicans. Not many are aware of this.

what the hell does that even mean? has the US benifited from their 'puppet government'? as far as i know, there are no exclusivity deals? or is this just another made up 'fact' by you?

Of course you have! Saddam was the puppet making sure the US got their shared deal of Iraqi oil until he bit the hand that fed him- attacked Kuwait. Then Bush saw him as a unstable threat and Operation Desert Storm went through. And we don't have to mention the US- supported blockade against Iraq the following decades which was meant to overthrow Saddam or something....

why does "wrong" equal a lie? are you stupid? Intelligence got it wrong, the UN got it wrong, that does mean its a lie, though interestingly enough you are ignoring other proposed reasons such as Saddam's (proven) links to terrorism.

No, I'm not stupid...sigh... Once again, I really like that we can call each other names without mommy moderator interfering.

I have never heard that there should be a connection, ever. This IS made up. And you say "proven". Give me a quote or something and I will give you my further opinions.

if Saddam was a puppet he would still be in power, he was a useful ally during the coldwar and aggression by the very very anti-US iranian government. You have to understand context when looking at these things, the US had to tolerate his various crimes (just as the rest of the west did) because they couldn't let Iran expand. Bush senior acted once he invaded Kuwait, was blocked from removing Saddam from power by the UN and so sanctions were put in place. Cue 15 years of the UN saying Saddam has WMDs unaccounted for etc

Heres a nice link that compiles it all

you can find plenty of reports from various governments etc as well regarding Saddams support of fundamentalist islam groups. This war isn't about Alqueda, its about destroying fundamentalist islam.

well to be fair, its not as though castro and his far left ilk weren't purging, but yes, it was a ****ty thing that happened, but you can't ignore the context in which it happened.

How many people are critical of the US efforts in Korea? why don't you cry about the US war on the poor innocent north koreans...how is south korea doing these days anyways? original.gif

What???... I thought this was psycho lefty mom's main reason for staking out near Bush's ranch.... huh.gif I thought it was all about her being able to talk to him.... rolleyes.gif EXACTLY!!

This is proof that all she is doing is trying to get her 15 mins of fame ... and stir a stink!.. She has NO Agenda... she is letting the Media and extreme leftist morons feed her and she loves the attention... (in her defense .. most people that are grieving do require a lot of attention... ) What a SAD.. SAD woman hmm.gif

At least Bush sticks to his Agenda.. and what he says.. even if lots of people think it is wrong! I guess Miss Sheehan (Miss since she is no longer married wink2.gif ) .. is just as wishy washy as all those other lefty dems!! thumbsup.gif

Anti-war mom glad she didn’t meet Bush

CRAWFORD, Texas - A woman who led an anti-war protest for nearly a month near President Bush’s ranch said Tuesday that she’s glad Bush never showed up to discuss her son’s death in Iraq, saying the president’s absence “galvanized the peace movement.”

Cindy Sheehan’s comments came as war protesters packed up their campsite near the ranch and prepared to leave Tuesday for a three-week bus tour.

“I look back on it, and I am very, very, very grateful he did not meet with me, because we have sparked and galvanized the peace movement,” Sheehan told The Associated Press. “If he’d met with me, then I would have gone home, and it would have ended there.”

Sheehan and about 50 other peace activists arrived in the one-stoplight town Aug. 6, the day after she spoke at a Veterans for Peace convention in Dallas. She and a few others spent that night in chairs in ditches, without food or flashlights, off the main road leading to the president’s ranch.

The Vacaville, Calif., woman vowed to stay until Bush’s monthlong vacation ended unless she could question him about the war that claimed the life of her 24-year-old son Casey and more than 1,870 other U.S. soldiers.

‘Love and support’

Two top Bush administration officials talked to Sheehan the first day, but the president never did — although he has said that he sympathizes with her and acknowledged her right to protest. His vacation is to end Wednesday, two days early, so he can monitor federal efforts to help victims of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast.

Sheehan’s vigil attracted crowds of other anti-war demonstrators. Most stayed a few hours or days at the original roadside camp or at the second, larger site about a mile away on a private lot offered by a sympathetic landowner.

The massive response has transformed her life, she said.

“I thought our country was going down, down, down. I thought nobody cared about our children killed in the war, but millions care, and millions care about our country and want to make it better,” she said. “The love and support I’ve received give me hope that my life can someday be normal.”

The protest also sparked counter rallies by Bush supporters who accused Sheehan of using her son’s death to push the liberal agenda of groups supporting her. Critics also said the anti-war demonstration was hurting U.S. troop morale while boosting the Iraqi insurgency.

Many Bush supporters pointed out that Sheehan never spoke against Bush or the war when she and other grieving families met the president about two months after her son died last year.

Anti-war tour

Sheehan said she was still in shock over Casey’s death during that meeting. She said she became enraged after independent reports disputed Bush administration claims that Saddam Hussein had chemical and biological weapons — a main justification for the March 2003 invasion.

After leaving Crawford, protesters will spread their message on a three-week “Bring Them Home Now Tour” with stops in 25 states. Buses on three routes will meet in Washington, D.C., for a Sept. 24 anti-war march.

Sheehan will leave the tour next week to spend time with her family, including her mother who recently suffered a stroke, which caused Sheehan to miss a week of the protest.

Joc, you almost cause me to spill my coffe of the laught. Me, a far lefist? rofl.gif

I identify myself has center, whit moments to the right or left, depending the situation. dentifying me whit the left is like identifiying Zephyr whit the mslim extremist. Maybe the problem is that you are soo far right that anythinh not has right wing has you looks like @leftist@ to you.

Its funny. I have been called a "dirty pink commie" by some right wing hardliners, and a "facist capitalist pig" by some left wing hardliners. I had verbal discussion and physical fights when the verbal option fails whit both parties. happy.gif

Joc, maybe you are a "normal guy", i dont know your background. I am also a "normal guy", i work eight hours, go to the university (where i must endure the legions of lefist "troskos" and some right wing infintrators), drink some beer whit my friends and sometimes play RPGs, paint minis for wargames (go Battletech!). I dont know. If that isnt normal to you.... rofl.gif

What???... I thought this was psycho lefty

Stop using "left" or any variant of the word as an insult. Now. Not oly does it show you to be on the low end of the spectrum, education-wise, but it also p***es a good deal of people off. Knock it off, NOW.

At least Bush sticks to his Agenda.. and what he says.. even if lots of people think it is wrong!

Let's think here. Imagine that you are in a car with a person like Mr. Bush. He's the driver, and he's driving towards a cliff. One way or another, he's convinced himself that there's not a cliff there, and that the road keeps on going. No matter how much you try to dissuade him from this notion, prove him wrong, etc, he won't change his mind. But hey! Look on the bright side! Even if you're about to sail into a messy oblivion, at least your leader will be decisive about it! w00t.gif

I guess Miss Sheehan (Miss since she is no longer married  wink2.gif ) .. is just as wishy washy as all those other lefty dems!!  thumbsup.gif

Do you want me to start reffering to Republicans and Conservatives as "Uneducated, drunken rednecks"? No? Then lead by example.

She has no political agenda? Right...Anyone who blames Bush for the hurricane and refers to anyone who doesn't support her narrow view as a 'reich-winger' has to have some sort of agenda.

By the way, I had tears in my eyes for about ten minutes when I saw that one. Reich-winger...christ...
