Bush's response to the tragedy...

The Caspian Hare

The screwup was in building the city there in the first place. This has been coming for a long time.

Maybe FEMA screwed the pooch on this one, maybe it's just doing the best that can be expected; only time will tell. There's enough time for finger pointing later. Personally I would lay most of the blame at the state level, not the feds. Just my 2 cents.

The MEDIA is the reason for the aid not getting to the refugees!!! The MEDIA is hendering by dramatizing everything... about the shootings.... and violence.

Matt Lauer even made the statement on the Today Show.. that "They" as in the Media, needs to be more careful on what they report!!

Because of this reporting on violence.. the aid workers.. don't want to enter what they are being told os hostile territory.... The MEDIA loves drama.. and always reports on the NEGATIVE issues....

Well a lot of people are dying and suffering at the result of the MEDIA!!!!!!! ph34r.gif

Once again... the Media screws up!! hmm.gif Way to go there! rolleyes.gif

And of course everyone is quick to blame the federal government and President Bush!!

thank you next, for that entertaining, but incredibly wrong statement.

did the media create the hurricane?

did the media not build good enough levies to withstand the hurricane?

did the media send loads of money and soldires that can be used to help with the mess to iraq?

is the media getting drunk and shooting at rescuers?

next, your president is absent, when you need him the most.

he is NOT to blame for this mess directly, but he needs to do SOMETHING and quickly.

he was able to get action and money quickly after 9/11, so why not now?

he is weak, and you need a leader.

Hummers.....

in the same sense..

Did Bush create the hurricane? ..

Did Buch not build good enough levies to withstand the hurricane?

is Bush getting drunk and shooting at rescuers?

He is not absent... how can anyone say that??... He is working with what information he is getting...

I believe tha failure is more at a State level... than federal level!

BTW.. Glad you were entertained!! thumbsup.gif ... sure doesnt' take much! cool.gif

regardless of how i feel about bush, i am not blaming him directly for the misery that now exists.

Yes you are:

he's dropped the ball, and you do that when you focus on something else, and in his case, it's his obsession with iraq.

Do you really think that FEMA is sitting on the sidelines twiddling their thumbs because they don't have enough money or resources? The fact is that:

(CBS/AP) President Bush on Sunday urged people living in the path of Hurricane Katrina to take the storm extremely seriously and to move to safer ground. "We cannot stress enough the danger this hurricane poses to Gulf Coast communities," said the president.

"We will do everything in our power to help the people and the communities affected by this storm," President Bush said as Katrina bore down on a stretch of coastline that includes New Orleans, a city sitting below sea level with 485,000 inhabitants. "I urge all citizens to put their own safety and the safety of their families first by moving to safe ground."

In addition to packing winds of up to nearly 175 mph, the category five storm also carried a threat of a massive storm surge.

Mr. Bush spoke with reporters on his central Texas ranch shortly after New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ordered an immediate mandatory evacuation for all of New Orleans.

Late Sunday, President Bush pressed for an emergency declaration in Alabama, which would allow federal operations in. Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi were already declared disaster states.

So what? Theres almost no national guard to help out with the cause, Theres 10,000 people at the convention center that haven't had food and water for 2/3 days.

Wheres the food? Wheres the buses?

We can drop food in Iraq, But we can't drop food in New Orleans?

You're a Bush supporter. You choose not to like anyone else, Because Bush is the almighty one, Isn't he?

Rhomphaia until you start providing a sensible, non-fanboyish argument to counter the allegations that the government has responded poorly to the disaster then thy bother posting? Are you for one second trying to tell me you know better than disaster analysis experts or the media who have already pointed out the government flaws in this matter? Are you some sort of armchair oracle?

You beat me to it, And well said. thumbsup.gif

Okay, enough with the silly bickering. It's useless and doesn't help solve anything.

What sickens me is you have people normal every day Americans driving over from Florida in there cars filled up with bottles of water and food, and they got there well before any "governmental help" and then Bush had the unbelievable arrogance to praise his own government for the relief efforts, I could not believe my ears and eyes, so many people are questioning his unbelievable actions on this, which is why so many people are angry, and he rubs it in there face by praising the very thing people are p***ed about?.....I saw boxes of food and water in cases behind bars and homeless hungry people not allowed to have it, because there was no looting, even though this food would be destroyed and not used, its almost beyond belief, why not let the starving have food that is going to go to waist? I do not think I have ever seen anything like this in my life… I saw homeless people begging for food for there babies and they where not allowed to take food from stores that has become ruined just yard from them. In some places they here allowed, in others they where not, SICK!!

^ Funny, about that... since the food was so in demand even the cops themselves were looting the food to survive.

The response... can only be so fast and was/is being slowed by morons shooting at people trying to help. You can only do so much, and something so fast in a problem of this size. Jeez... you know... look at it. Nothing can be perfect. hmm.gif

and well look at this Faeden...

Bush says results of hurricane response 'not acceptable'

Notice the words... "not acceptable".

Nxt2Hvn: The money that was to go to strengthening the levys was used for the Iraq war instead. You cannot credibly say that Bush is not at least partially to blame for the disaster in New Orleans.

Bush should have acted faster, it was the Hurricane's fault, but Gorge Bush's mistake.

Kad, New Orleans has been trying to get that money for decades. There have been many administrations that didn't feel that it was important enough to allocate money to something that may never happen.

It seems like these rumors never die. rolleyes.gif

Blah, blah, blah.

What sickens me is when someone like you works themselves into a petulant snit at every tragedy in order to badmouth the US and everything it does. There are people in the military and in emergency services busting their asses to help those people down there. You're goddamned right they deserve to be praised. Sod off.

Red neck and kratos

I was referring to when Bush was saying that the response was good, and because he was praising there response, I did not know he had changed his mind at the time I wrote that. I wonder what changed his mind?

My words where against Bush and his government, not America, most of the world agree with me going on the polls that are talking place.

All the best

Louisiana, like New Jersey is a state were the tourist profits do not match the public works projects as with most states with legalized gambling (Nevada is the exception) all the money is going into someones pocket. If the Gambling industry paid proper taxes there would be no federal aid needed to fix the dikes or maintain drainage in the cities. With the minumin wage law not even being enforced and people making as little as $1.50 an hour, the money is not even going back into the population just making the casino owners fat to put up their own politicians. So it is partially the states fault. mad.gif

The state of Louisiana also used up a load of federal money to restore all those antibellum plantation houses and turn them into tourists traps when all they are is symbols of slavery and brutality. The sweat, blood and hardship of red and black slaves and the tour guides make it sound like a glorious past. blink.gif

Here in New Jersey the casinos are fat but the general public in Atlantic City still live in 3rd world conditions and the state can't even pay forest rangers and the State Police are knocking on the hunting guides, like myself, doors when some idiot is lost hurt or they are looking for pot plants. Wait till there is a disaster in A.C. and you will see the same stupid results.

I have no love for Bush but he is not all to blame when Louisiana is raking in all those oil refinery taxes and gambling and tourist profits and lining pockets instead of providing proper services. sad.gif

So many people blaming Bush. Maybe Im just young and naeve, but Bush isn't the one who makes the decisions, is he? I was pretty sure he had people to think and make decisions for him; he just does the talking. Correct me if Im wrong.

As that article says... a rare time that he actually admits failure.

Ya, trippy the rat b****** finally admits to being in some way part of a system that failed. I believe the only reason Bush admits to this “massive” failure is one, it is a massive failure, two, it is not directly related to him and three, he had little time to make up the regular batch of B.S., I.E. he was not as prepared as he was when 911 happened. Interesting though that bush took his time reacting to the New Orleans disaster as he did with the 911 disaster, I guess some people just need a little more time to process reality than others do.

heh, he's slow. rolleyes.gif

I had to add though, during the tsunami, USA was the one of the last countries who actually offered any help. Not sure what the US govt told you, but they didn't come until about a week or so after people started voicing it out. -_-
