Scar Posted September 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2005 (edited) Just incase Blackleaf missed it....... Northern Ireland 1-0 England Northern Ireland put a dent in England's World Cup hopes as David Healy's goal gave them a stunning win. Leeds striker Healy fired home Steve Davis' pass after 73 minutes to give Lawrie Sanchez's side their first victory against England since 1972. It capped a nightmare England display, in which a petulant Wayne Rooney picked up a yellow card that rules him out of the next qualifier against Austria. Talon Posted September 11, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2005 It tells you how poor the Scotland team is when the Scots get excited when their team beats Norway. It tells how poor the England team is when they get slaughtered by North Ireland Oh there was an email sent around on Thursday morning, it was so funny , said something along the lines of; Scotland won. England lost. You woke up the next morning and found it wasn't a dream. ....Carlsburg don't make Thursday mornings. But if they did, they'd be the best Thursday mornings in the world. jeceris Posted September 11, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2005 i love the world cup, and one day i hope canada may make it, but northern ireland is ranked about 5 spots better than canada, and canada is useless, so well done norhtern ireland, and engalnd, it might be time for a new coach. well done you sectarian b*******!!!!! Mr Ed Posted September 11, 2005 #10 Share Posted September 11, 2005 It tells you how poor the Scotland team is when the Scots get excited when their team beats Norway. That made me laugh out loud. However, Talon is right when he says... It tells how poor the England team is when they get slaughtered by North Ireland Well, we weren't slaughtered, but it was a complete and utter disgrace. It was shameful. Really, really shameful.
wunarmdscissor Posted September 11, 2005 #11 Share Posted September 11, 2005 it would only made me laff because talon's thread did exactly what it was intended to do...... wind up blackleaf (ie: the way he constantly posts antifrench threads) also shows he has no clue about football , when he compares our win to Norway to the englsih defeat against n.ireland. describing the norwegians as if they were of similar pedigree is hilaious lol. am still laffing because john motson is an arrogant **** and he go so firmly put back in his place by the irish he still stuck to a chair in belfast. i mean how dare he say things like "they'll just be happy to gbe drawing at half time , but the floodgates will open " i mean its so arrogant , he was commentating to n.irish (british) fans as well . impartiality eh? that including many other wee derrogatory comments is why we love it when you get beat. and theres nothing wrong with us celebratng a good couple of results , at least we're loyal enough to support through the good and bad times and not resort to the shameful shennanigans your media and fans en masse were with regards to beckham and sven. so what if we got excited we're a small country and we aret arrogant with oversized egos and a superiority complex. Blackleaf Posted September 11, 2005 #13 Share Posted September 11, 2005 (edited) It tells you how poor the Scotland team is when the Scots get excited when their team beats Norway. It tells how poor the England team is when they get slaughtered by North Ireland No. It shows you how GOOD England are because when they get beaten by Northern Ireland it's such a shock that it gets posted here. It's one of those wins that happens only once every 30-35 years. If Scotland got beaten by Northern Ireland, no thread about it would have been created here because it WOULDN'T have been a shock. And the Scots get all excited and think they have a good team when they beat Norway. The Scots have to remember that a few years ago Scotland failed to beat the Faroe Islands. EVERYONE expected them to score loads of goals against Northern Ireland at half time. England are ranked 7th in the world, are the 3rd favourites to win the World Cup, and Northern Ireland are ranked 116th in the world. In the first game that we played against Northern Ireland in the group, it was 0-0 at half time, but then in the 2nd half the floodgates opened and England went on to win 4-0. We all expected England to do the same in the 2nd game when it was also 0-0 at half time. John Motson, rightfully, expected an ENGLAND win, not a Northern Ireland win. Blackleaf Posted September 11, 2005 #15 Share Posted September 11, 2005 i mean its so arrogant , he was commentating to n.irish (british) fans as well . impartiality eh Yeah. John Motson was about as "impartial" as Scottish football commentators are when Scotland play England. And I don't think John Motson was commentating to Northern Irish fans. They would have had a Northern Irish commentator on BBC Northern Ireland.
Blackleaf Posted September 11, 2005 #16 Share Posted September 11, 2005 so what if we got excited we're a small country That's always the excuse that the Scots use - "Oh, we're only a little country." New Zealand has a population of only 3 million - smaller than Scotland's - but just take a look at the mighty New Zealand All Blacks rugby team. Shows how thin skinned he is, he's been dishing it out for the last 4 months, but he can't it No. It shows you how GOOD England are because when they get beaten by Northern Ireland it's such a shock that it gets posted here. It's one of those wins that happens only once every 30-35 years. Much like when England beats Australia in cricket, its so rare you needed to post it in World Affairs The Scots have to remember that a few years ago Scotland failed to beat the Faroe Islands. And a few days ago England failed to beat Ulster... whats your point England are ranked 7th in the world, are the 3rd favourites to win the World Cup, and Northern Ireland are ranked 116th in the world. And I beleive Norway is around 36.. so your moaning on that Scotland beating them is embrassing, while England couldn't even beat the team ranked 116th .... hmmmm We're the ones that will be playing in the World Cup next year - not Scotland. Yes yes and like every World Cup before this one you'll go in saying you will win it and its rightfully yours... then you won't. But got forbid you just lose to a better team on the day, instead you'll find someone to blame, be it one of your players, the referee, or the 'cheating' opposing team, to find some way to say you didn't lose but rather it was 'stolen' from you. It happen's every world cup and it'll happen again. At this time tomorrow, the Ashes will be England's. And much like Ulster beating England, its so rare an event it only happens but once a generation Edited September 11, 2005 by Talon

thebarman Posted September 12, 2005 #22 Share Posted September 12, 2005 Pfft...all this stupid arguing, England lost to N. Ireland for one reason and one reason only. England played crap. It will be for exactly the same reason that next year England will not win the World Cup. Blackleaf, I'm as English as they come, and I love my country, but quite frankly you embarrass me. Blackleaf Posted September 16, 2005 #23 Share Posted September 16, 2005 Much like when England beats Australia in cricket, its so rare you needed to post it in World Affairs Australia beating England in the cricket is a rare even, not vice versa. And a few days ago England failed to beat Ulster... whats your point My point is that whilst you mock England for losing against Northern Ireland, you forget that Scotland couldn't beat the Faroe Islands which is a country far smaller than Northern Ireland and the players are only part-timers. So that's worse! England are ranked 7th in the world, are the 3rd favourites to win the World Cup, and Northern Ireland are ranked 116th in the world. Yes yes and like every World Cup before this one you'll go in saying you will win it and its rightfully yours... then you won't. We won it in 1966. Scotland's never won it. We also won the 2003 rugby World Cup, and also were the 1991 losing finalists.

Blackleaf Posted September 16, 2005 #25 Share Posted September 16, 2005 I think England have got a good chance to win the World Cup next year - especially if we kick out Sven, who is only doing the job for the money and not the country, and bring in an ENGLISH manager who will show some more passion. For that, we need Stuart Pearce or Sam Allardyce as manager. Bring one of them in, kick out the Swede, and we'll stand a good chance of winning the World Cup. And even with Sven, we'll still have more chance of winning than Scotland. We are the 3rd favourites to win it, and with players like Rooney, Beckham and Lampard, it's not hard to see why.
