Daily Mail Sky don't beat about the Bush 11:55am 9th September 2005 President Bush's handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster has been met with a barrage of criticism on both sides of the Atlantic, not least from Mail online's Esther Swales. Yet none have been as harsh on the President as the caption writers on the Sky News channel. The 24-hour news service is famed for flashing news captions up within seconds of a major news story breaking. But it seems Sky's team of caption writers had an irony bypass when they wrote the line reporting a Bush speech in the wake of the disaster. Chuck Schumer up to? Raising money off the backs of Katrina's victims — for the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. In one of the more cynical tricks we've seen lately, Schumer's DSCC urged visitors to its Web site to sign a petition urging the firing of Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown, the focus of much of the criticism of the federal response to Katrina.
