Canadian Health System

Well , the doctors I worked with back then, hated the ideal of socialized medicine. In the US if you walk into a emergency room, you will be treated no matter what. In Dallas, certain hospitals have huge number of illegals that get treatment every day with no money. We don't need socialize medicine. I will never understand how certain people think they are entitled to things.

Thank god I live in a small Canadian town....about 3,000 - 4,000 people. Hardly any waiting at the hospital.

That is what you get when you let the government run it. The healthcare industry is going that way here in the USA. The government is granting companies monopolies. Not good at all for prices to the consumer.

Some of the better medicine is not in Canada or the USA, it's out in Asia.

No, its more like the first one in line, I had to go to the Hospital a lot since my mom is a PA-C... Sometimes I see kids with glass in their eyes bleeding their brains out for hours, waiting for some man to see if he has strep throat....

And I would say yes, Health Care, the right to live healthy is a right in a 1st and 2nd world country because we can afford it. This is why we have a government, I'm not gonna get into a democrat/republican fight because Eric and I could go on for pages, he's my debating buddy thumbsup.gif .

But really, think about it, the main reason we have a government is to guide and provide for the people. If you don't want to live in a government controlled area where there will also be no authorities and such, then go do it. Provide for yourself, keep all your money you greedy people! But... we have a government, we pay for the services we recieve from them. If you have to be so **** greedy... Think of health care as donating to the Red Cross. It's funny too, most people that complain are wealthy enough to pay the money and not be affected by it.

More and more Canadian doctors are returning home to Canada because of the better wages etc in Canada.

Sure theres long line ups and stuff and we know that sucks but its alot better then the american version of who ever has the most money wins. So if you have a big gash on your leg and 10 more people come in with more money and smaller cuts etc they will most likely be treated first because they have money, while leaving the poorer person to sit out there wiht the possability of infection.

Sure no health care system is perfict but i would rather be treated in Canada then the US.

I can see you know NOTHING about the US health care system. I don't know anything about Canada's, but you don't see me on here spouting out lies about it do you?

I don't think it is fair that I paid 85k in taxes last year. I should not have to pay a larger % just because I scraped my way up to wehere I am now. There should be a flat tax with not write offs. Now, when I worked in the ER in Mississippi, we took people with the most serious cases. If you had a cold, you would be waiting most of the day, if you had split your head open you came right in. Thats the way the ER system works.

Hahaha man you have it so wrong. Anybody who enters an emergency room here is forced to be treated, dirt poor or not. Then the health care company is forced to pay for it, usually by raising prices to those who are able to pay. From most of what I've read, the treatment you receive in the USA is quite a bit better than that in Canada. I've never been treated in Canada so I cannot speak on it through personal experience.

Oh yes it has made an impact. It restricts how much I put towards my kids college. It limits the amount of money I can send to my relatives back in Mississippi. So yeah, it made an impact. Even if it didn't I shouldn't have to pay for your health care, you communist. grin2.gif

greed does not matter. the fact is, is it isn't fair. poor people may be jealous of his money, rich people may be greedy, but that does not matter. everybody is about equality, everyone having the same healthcare treatment, the same great job, etc, but then when it comes down to paying for it, everybody wants the rich to foot the bill because they have more money. that is a load of crap.

everybody is different. nobody is entitled to anything. if he makes 100,000,000 a year, be happy for him for making that much money. he has every right to b**** about how much money he is forced to pay to the government. he pays a lot more than i do, i am forced to hand over about 25k a year, and i feel for him, even if he has more left over in the end.

Thanks. You stated my frustration totally. I am not greedy(maybe a little bit), but no one knows how much I donate or do with my free time. I am punished for busting my butt to get where I am by taxes.

Omg, "You communist"... Only someone like you would say that, meaning a conservative republican who will die for the name of his party. I never said I was communist, and if you can proove that, I will seriously go to your house and pay you $1,000.

My middle class family pays enough taxes to live in a rich area, and yet we are sending so much money to my aunt, uncle, and cousin who is 6 in Mississippi. And if you are smart enough to make 6 figures, you should know there is something called stocks, and bonds, or have you just barley gotten by in your line of work without truley studying how things like the work? wink2.gif

Have you followed the stock marke lately. Oh I am sorry probably not your 15. Of course I invest, taxes still limit me to what I can donate, or send to my family. Also, in one of your old posts, you stated that you though communism was a good thing. It also takes along time for investments to pay off. I am only 33, and have only been making really good money for 3 years.

Well, I said one concept of Communism was a good thing, not the whole thing. You know, only Republicans wil think equality is bad. And guess what, a long Semester long school project of mine is to follow the stock market and certain companies and see how it is. So yes I do. And 3 years? Then start saving up for your kids, and stop buying "excessive" , if you do, comforts that you don't really need.

I do save. I still shouldn't be forced to give so much of my income away. Hmm, and I thought communist would be a compliment to you. Does socialist fit you better? I know you want the governnment to take care of you all of your life. Makes life easier when you dont' have ambition.

How the hell do you know what I want out of life? I want the government to take care of things only they can give, I plan to have a damn good job and raise a family when I am older. I also plan on going to college and are already taking college courses, who's so fockin ambitious now. I also live in a good area, and I think everyone should have a chance of what I am doing. Unlike you who is so freaking greedy. You pretty much don't care about other people. You might be a special case with your messed up parents and living in poverty which I think is still BS. But not everyone is subjected to that. I really care about other human beings which is a damn lot more than I can say for you, ya evil monkey.

Look you jerk. Since you know people in Mississippi, why don't I give my address that I grew up at. You take a look at where I lived and talk to me about poverty. I guess the 2k I just gave to the red cross and 3k I sent to my mother for repairing her home from hurricane damage means I am very greedy. You don't know me little boy so don't judge. I do know from your posts, that at the least, your a socialist. angry.gif

I can judge you, you don't care about others, well truely, maybe your family and the survivors of the hurricane but otherwise... No, because if so, you wouldn't be an iggnorant Conservative Republican who also says millions of people are crossing our borders as we speak.

Oh and Socialist? Omg, I'm shaking in my pants, I'm so insulted. Yeah, I have some beliefs of my own that are what socialism stands for but I don't belong in any political branch, because they all have their flaws.

I'm part of the Ken Rodriguez Branch thumbsup.gif

Hell if I was President, I would pass an act which made everyone in the country work that was able, and if not they get booted out of the USA, but some soft liberals would go, omg that's too harsh. That's when, and the only time I will ever think like a Conservative. Also, public service would be mandatory for atleast two years, Local or Military.

Please, you two... no need for name calling and let's get back to the subject at hand.. if you so need to flame each other, do it via PMs and let people who are interested in debating the real subject at hand do so...

=================

I see everyone's point of views here and appreciate all the responses. I do see however how different views are from both the American and the Canadian fronts.

I will not comment on the "who makes more money should get better care" comments, because after reading the last few responses, I feel that I will be also have "name calling" responses.

All I can say is that I thank you all for your honesty in your responses and that I do see that both in the US and in Canada, there are flaws in the health care systems.

Thank you for reading and please be well...

PS: Jerecis, I mostly appreciate hearing your point of view, now knowing that you work in the Health Care System directly... and I must applaud you for your responses. thumbsup.gif

I can't believe I actually agree with you on something. Hell has frozen over. I think one day when you gradutate college and started making money, expecially a 6 figure one, that you will be upset that 30-42% of you income is being taxed, not to mention state tax, sales tax, etc. Once again, you don't know how I dontate my time or money, so you can't judge me. Each year I give a room of furniture to salvation army so someone can use it in their home. Walk ahwile in my shoes before you judge me. hmm.gif
