Celumnaz Posted September 22, 2005 #51 Share Posted September 22, 2005 free healthcare, transport, education etc etc.... we're very bad. Yes, as a national policy those ideas are Evil. Caring, transporting, educating people on a personal level is common humanity, not socialism. Socialism is theft, slavery, and detrimental to the human spirit. and the whole "you europeans are jealous of america " crap is ridiculous. lol most of us live in cities, that pre-date america the nation by centuries. little bit of resentment, even though I agree with the idea, it's kinda like telling a drunk he has an alcohol problem sometimes. Celumnaz Posted September 22, 2005 #54 Share Posted September 22, 2005 lol I'm sorry wunarmdscissor. In no way do I think Brits are evil, just the idea of socialism as policy. When I questioned the idea of resentment/jealousy as being absurd, I got confirmation from Brits that there is a component of truth to it. So I don't ever mention it in any "proofs" but I do consider it as part of a whole equation.
I am me Posted September 22, 2005 #55 Share Posted September 22, 2005 hmm maybe americans should think in a more socialist way then. the lack of response to the disaster in new orleans is EXACTLY what happens when you have a right wing govt. people simply couldnt leave becuase they couldnt afford to. but hey thats what us evil socialists want. there was a huge response, all from the private sector! the only lack of response was that from the federal government immediately after the flooding. what did people do back in the days before planes, trains and automobiles? they walked or rode horses! people in new orleans new of the flood danger poor or not. i am sure they know they live below sea level. it was sad to see people die, but things like this happen. i have broken bones before, where was the government to run and save me on that one? will the government keep me from dying? no, it cannot and will not. Babs Posted September 23, 2005 #56 Share Posted September 23, 2005 (edited) What the hell? I don't know what you are talking about. Baku called those poor people rednecks in the gulf states and that, "no one should care about them!" You edited your material, so I can't get anything up on what you said...except that you said england shouldn't give money to the U.S.'s refugees. We helped with your terror attack and as I recall I said the FBI team was flying there to help...and you know what you said Mr. Ed?...."I don't think we need the help (arrogance), but I 'guess' we can use all the help we can get." You are so arrogant and you are obviously intimidated and envious of the U.S.. Mr. Ed: ........I give young people a wide berth, but you are taking up too many berths on the train. Babs Posted September 23, 2005 #60 Share Posted September 23, 2005 (edited) Because you guys aren't a super power anymore. I guess it is human nature. When I went to England back in the 80's, the english loved us, but there was that green-eyed monster always lurking there in the conversations. Blair himself even said it, now, today. I know it's hard to admit something like this because it makes you realize that the U.S. has something more than you.......and that hurts. You guys aren't a super power anymore, plain and simple. I'm getting off this subject it, has drawn out long enough; I have been talking about this subject for a year or so. wunarmdscissor Posted September 25, 2005 #62 Share Posted September 25, 2005 patriot i hate to tell ya but our days as a superpower were numbered when we took on the nazis singlehandedly. lol and ya know what not being a superpower is very very low on my list of things i worry about lol. babs ill ask you againb, your country may be a superpower, but what exactly has this given you that i cannot get from my country? lol, at least answer the question. and by the way , what my country did to become a superpower was worrying to say the least, and you country is already doing the same things that sit so badly in the conscience of our population form our days of empire. most of us would rather not be a superpower , we have consciences.
