Bird Flu 1 #77 Posted October 5, 2005 (edited) hmmm divide by 0? first figure out that 2=1: a = b a2 = ab a2 - b2 = ab-b2 ( a - B )( a + B ) = b ( a - B ) a+b = b b+b = b 2b = b 2 = 1 now if 2=1, then 1+1=2 so 2+2=2 and if that's not the solution, maybe take it a step further: 1+1=1 a = b a2 = b2 a2 - b2 = 0 ( a - b )( a + b ) = 0 ( a - b )( a + b )/( a - b ) = 0/( a - b ) 1( a + b ) = 0 ( a + b ) = 0 1 + 1 = 0 2 = 0 1 = 0 1 + 1 = 1 so 2+2=1 Edited October 5, 2005 by Stephanie
PadawanOsswe 1 #78 Posted October 5, 2005 people think way too hard, 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4 which is equivallent to 2 + 2 and just for reference The Number 2 = 1 + 1 (note: 2 One's) therefore 2 + 2 = 4! its not rocket science people!
Stellar 1,402 #79 Posted October 6, 2005 (edited) a = b a2 = ab a2 - b2 = ab-b2 ( a - B )( a + B ) = b ( a - B ) (-a+b=B ) (-b+b=0) a = b a2 = b2 a2 - b2 = 0 ( a - b )( a + b ) = 0 ( a - b )( a + b )/( a - b ) = 0/( a - b ) 1( a + b ) = 0/(a - B ) ( a + b ) = 0/(a - B ) 1 + 1 = 0/(1 - 1) division by 0 Edited October 6, 2005 by Stellar

mathman 0 #81 Posted February 5, 2010 maybe in measurements that would be true, but we can define numbers however we want, so in the question 2+2=4 2=2.0000000000000000000000000000 however, -20=-20 16-36=25-45 4^2-36=5^2-45 4^2-2*4*9/2=5^2-2*5*9/2 4^2-2*4*9/2+(9/2)^2=^2-2*5*9/2+(9/2)^2 (4-(9/2))^2=(5-(9/2))^2 (take the square root) 4-(9/2)=5-(9/2) (divide by -(9/2)) 4=5 2+2=5 there is, however, one flaw with this math, and that is that when you take a square root, there are two possible answers. For example, the square root of 25 is 5 OR -5. There is also one other way to prove this, although I am not sure that it is correct. This is something I came up with on my own, that one I took off another web site. Anyway, here it is: Let A=4 and B=5 A(5A-4B)=B(5A-4B) divide by (5A-4B) (this is a true statement, by the way) A=B 4=5 2+2=

Cherus 0 #85 Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) 2+2=5?? a=b a^2=a*b a^2-b^2=a*b-b^2 (a+B )(a-B )=b(a-B ) a+b=b if a=1 and b=1 then 2=1!!!! Edited February 5, 2010 by Cherus
cluey 939 #86 Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) 2 + 2 = 4, right? No, not in all cases. 2 (beers) + 2 (ciggerates) = 5 (bad smelling sticky room) Ok, I couldn't think of anything 'witty', but you get what I'm on about... But no # is equal to that #. Pi (3.14 etc.) never stops. 2 (way way way (a few trillion decimal places)) has to equal like 2.000000000000000000000000000000000001 or somethin' similar; sense nothing in this world (humans created it, and we arn't perfect) is perfect, that has to be the case. It may not be 5, but certainly not 4. ok~....if you are looking at numbers that way........then all other numbers would eventually have the same outcome(and no it's not after a few trillion decimal places now is it.......it's after a few trillion o's)..therefore every other two random number you throw out there with a + in the middle doesn't equal what we know as the answer to be.............you could be really out there and say...well if 2(really means 2.5).......then 2+2 would equal 5 Edited February 5, 2010 by cluey
cluey 939 #87 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) actually...now i have woken up properly and thought about your question a little more........your trying to say that 2.0000000....by a trilion 0's will eventually have a 1 at the end right!!!!.......if that's the case......then the answer of 2+2 still would not equal 5........ 2.000000000000001 +2.000000000000000001 would equal 4.0000000000000000000000002......going by what your saying........ (trillion 0's) (trillion 0's) (trillion 0's) Edited February 6, 2010 by cluey
