Seeing Faces in Objects

Hi Guys,

I'm a newie to this forum after spending time searching the net for answers...

I came across this great site and after reading up on some of the discussions posted thought I'd give it a try and see what answers I received to my query???

It's about my dad who I have always known as being particularly spirtual but he is also very private about his experiences also.

He has had many different ghostly encounters over the years and I must admit, I was abit of a sceptic before I actually had afew experiences of my own.

I'm not saying that I am psychic or anything like that but I have definately become a firm believer when it comes to spirits etc.

My dad not only has had ghostly experiences but he can also see auras, has visions and can pick up on vibes etc.

He recently told me of another quirk so to speak he says he has had every since he was a small boy. He can see faces in objects. If he is driving he may see a face on the side of a car door or in a tree stump etc. I know this sounds silly and I'm sure if you stare at an object hard enough you may be able to start to visualise a face of some sort in it. Most of the info on the net was of people seeing a face in a bowl of spaghetti but this experience is different.

He pointed out a photograph of my grandmother who has passed away and its of her sitting on her front veranda with her dog. He told me to look closely at the photo and tell him what I saw - nothing... He described a face behind my grandmother which he told me about in great detail and even pointed out where the facial features were in the photo.

I could vaguely see it but not in as much detail after he pointed it out to me.

I guess I'm asking anyone if they have experienced anything like this before and more than anything I am wondering what all this may mean?

I wonder if these spirits are trying to communicate with him and why seeing just the face is important?

I'm very curious and would love to tell my dad anything that I may learn for any of you ( if you reply of course )

It's quite hard for me to explain all this without sounding slighly silly and most probably some of you may also think that I believe just because he's my dad.. not true because even my mum doesn't!!!!

Would love to hear from anyone - look forward to any feedback,

Thanks

The first thing a human tries to find in a pattern/markings is a face.

Just because I can find 30 or more faces in my soap-stained shower doesn't mean that it is haunted, or that I have supernatural powers

You know what?

After the day I've had today.. I don't know why you'd bother to reply to my message with sarcasim?

I'm asking a general question and if you'd be kind enough to have a suggestion I'd rather it not be in a rude tone - no need to make me feel stupid <_<

Seeing faces in semi-random or random patterns is a well-understood psychological phenomenon,we see them in clouds, in smoke and on walls and floors, its called pareidolia

Hey :)

Thanks for the links..

I checked them out and its funny cause they were two of the ones I read when I did a search earlier today..

When I saw the silly ones I thought I'd still like to find out more... that's why I'm here!

I thought there maybe more to it - but you might be right

Hey, I do this every 30 seconds or so.. Everywhere I look, I see faces. I have only mentioned it to a few people, and once I point them out they see em too. What I have never shared with anyone, is that sometimes I see the same face over and over, it really bugs me out. I see this same face in rocks, trees, shower curtains, tile, wood grain, you get the picture, every where. In other words.. It is not just limited to things found in nature.

if pareidolia is the case .. I have a real over active issue with the disorder. I have been seeing these faces as long as I can remember. I don't think it is a projection thing, as I have never seen this person in the flesh so to speak. This doesn't affect my life much, they are just always there.. I don't get project feelings on them, or think that they have personalities, they are just there. I would really love to know if anyone else experiences this as frequently as I do. thx.

I wish I could find it but it was a long time ago. Maybe some of you will be old enough to remember an old TV show called "That's Incredible" that I think was on in the early 80's.

Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up now was this thread reminds me of one of the episodes of that show. A family was at a hospital waiting room because one of their family members was in critical condition. I can't remember what was wrong with the person but the family was very worried. They didn't expect the person to live.

He recovered in a room and when they looked at the wooden door to the room the person recovered in. The pattern of the wood grain on the door formed a very realistic face.

I'd like to find an image of this door because the face on it was so realistic. The eyes even had a glossy look to them but it was all just a pattern formed by the wood grain.

Just thought I'd share that because this discussion reminded me of that.

This isn't the image I was talking about but it's on a wooden door.

yes everything is made out of matter, matter is made out of energy, energy is spirit, spirits are faces, no bodies. They are artistic constructs and the background of our reality. If you think that in a 3D computer game the world is built out of polygons, which form sprites (spirits), these sprites are assigned intelligence to react to physical laws, they are then skinned (hologramatically) to look natural, anyone immersed in the game doesnt see the sprite unless they look hard enough.

Our reality is very similar, it is a construction and we are immersed in it, if we look hard we can see the spirit faces in wood cornflakes clouds water, trees, these are the hologramatical building blocks of what we believe is matter. Some have the cognition to see, other do not.

Some have the imagination to see faces and many things, others do not. It's all in one's mindset..."Ponies in the clouds" we used to call it.

I see faces and such in other places like tile on the wall, or whatever materials and patterns they use for floors and ceilings, I carve it up to imagination but also I believe that whatever one sees is a reflection of what is already going on within their subconscious.

Wow everyone..Thanks for the replies. I don't think this is my imaginiation, at all. I used to, but trust me it's not. These faces always have the same type of "expressions". And there is one face I see all the time, everywhere. I have also seen way stranger things, and wish dearly that it was my imagination playing games with me. There are thinks I have seen, that I don't even believe, and I'd never tell anyone, ever! Not even people I know would believe me.

I don't see faces(or other things) in every single kind of object. So I do not think my situation is identical to this thread's author. I only see them in wooden objects(with patterns on them), ornamental rugs, and clouds(well, everyone does^^). And the "things" I see are not the same face and they're not even always faces.

But there is one object in particular that immediately came to my mind when I read the ambiguous title of this thread. And that's the wooden bathroom door in my house. On the inside of the bathroom, I always see this strange zombie-like, skeletal humanoid figure in the very center of the door; complete with eyes(sometimes it looks like it has three), a nose, a wavy-cartoonish kind of mouth, arms, legs, and an anorexic body.

Sometimes I concentrate on it for so long that I can't even use the bathroom. And I've only began to see this "thing" since 2007 or 2008. What makes it seem even stranger is that my mom had a dream about a green, skeletal creature approaching her while she was in the bathroom...some years before I began seeing that disturbing figure on that door. Yeah, my mother has had countless experiences of the mystical.

Anyways, every time I describe how I see this thing on the bathroom door to my therapist she treats it as if I were hallucinating....but if that "image" is really a hallucination, why is it that my mother can see the exact same thing!? She told me she has seen it ever since she moved here in this house. And my second oldest brother can see "it" too. So I know its no hallucination. I get the feeling that its more related to a psychological phenomena known as "pareidolia." Those of you who may not be familiar with this term can read up about it right here:Pareidola

I believe this term has already been mentioned in this post some years ago. I cannot understand why even my psychologist would dub this experience as a "hallucination" when other people(besides myself) have seen this too.In my situation I don't see it as anything being "special," "spiritual," "magical," or whatever else you want to call it in a supernatural sense. I just think its very very bizarre. :unsure2:

That's really spooky. I think I would have to get rid of the door if I were you.

Pareidolia does describe seeing patterns in things where no "real" pattern exists (faces in wood grains, dragons in clouds etc), and it isn't an hallucination but an optical/psychological illusion, so I'm a little surprised your therapist isn't at least even familiar with the concept - it may be you're describing it in a fashion different than you are here? Have you mentioned the pattern in the grain in terms of the word "pareidolia" or taken a printout of the definition and/or photograph of the door area in question, or some other way to help you better convey your meaning? Doctors and therapists around here love it when you read up (not get all anxious and hypchondriacal and freak out about having every illness on earth) and do a little homework and make observations on your own experiences.

Other witness-wise, it sounds like the grain is of significant similarity to a face or whichever that other people are able to ascertain a similar image to your own perception, unless you were saying "Look, can you see the face, and the eyes, here and here?" because of course if you did that, you were leading the "discovery" and basically contaminated that avenue.

I see them in pictures of natural landscapes. I have a painting of a nature scene and there is this most beutiful feminin face in it, no one else can see it. But it is so clear to me.

I also had an episode if seeing faces everywhere, but it followed an incident where I did CPR on a woman dieing and traped in her car. I never thought those kinds if things would affect me. But I saw faces everywhere for months. Not hers, but I felt like it was realated. It subsided after her husband contacted me and we talked for a while. I was able to confirm for him that I was certain she died instantly. He was actually releived. He had been distraught that she might have had time to worry about leaving her family.
