Reach for the stars, Insane Potatoes!

1. Her, I am a chick.

2. My amount of post has nothing to do with this.

3. Why would I reach for burning balls of fire? Now that's just dumb.

1. A chick you are. So noted. ;)

2. First impressions, girl. That's what the amount of posts has to do with this.

3. Experience is never dumb, no matter how foolish it may seem at the time.

So many aspects of christianity heve been proven wrong!

Jesus WAS NOT born on Dec. 25! that was a holiday stolen from the pagans!

How could Mary be a virgin?!

THERE IS NO GOD!

You can debate without stepping out of the parameters of forum rules. Calling Christians stupid is flaming.

Yeah, we know (most of us). About Christmas, about Mary (although there are a few quite secular ways in which it could have happened). The last part is strictly your opinion, which I happen to share, but your opinion, my opinion, and ten bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Doesn't mean that we refer to people who haven't learned this yet as stupid. No one should expect you to know something that you haven't been taught.

Not in this section. This is the "Spirituality, Religion and Beliefs" you want the "Spirituality vs Skepticism".

OK my friend?

to answer the question in the title;

Jesus is not hated, however the religion born of what he taught (the original hebrew scriptures) and of later books (new testament) is what is hated.

Christians are hated because historically they have shed blood to gain converts, and never forget the "Holy" crusades, into the middle east to find objects that have been lost for millenia.

Personally i believe there may be a higher power, but what ever it is, it just doesn't care anymore.

i know not, what they would call me, but i prefer; like my two buddies DemonWatcher and DarkLordOfHELL; to be called a

Watcher (not in the biblical sense though).

Oh I never heard of a watcher. Sounds neat.

The deists believe in a loving creator that no longer interacts with the creations.. they also do not believe in hell. \

This is an interesting religion. If I were not Christian I would be a deist.

I prefer to do what The One True God's non-corporeal creations do, Watch and wait.

Hence i am a Watcher.

To answer the original question I will use a couple of quotes that make a lot of sense to me.

C.S. Lewis in his book Mere Christianity makes the best one I have ever read.

In the end though, one must have faith that God exists and that faith should be grounded in logic and reason so that it is not simply blind faith. If you want to convince an agnostic of the existence of God, then do so by showing him or her he fruits of that faith. Most people I know that are agnostic are not agnostic because they have a hard time logically concluding that a higher power exists, but rather because of the actions of the people who claim to follow that higher power. I think this point is best illustrated by the following quote:

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

-Mohandas Gandhi

I would say the answer to that question is sad and simple.

Jesus in the Bible said : "if you follow me you will be hated and persecuted"...so thats a given

the otehr part is, so much eveil, so many wrongs have been donne in the name of christianity that people have become saturated.

also nowadays, most famous people connected in some way to christianity are so arrogant, self-righteous, hypocritical, judgemental, pig-headed and narrow-minded that it ends up reflecting on everyone else.....

Personally i believe there may be a higher power, but what ever it is, it just doesn't care anymore.

Warning: not sarcasm.

How many pictures/paintings of Jesus are there? Which one is actually a true depiction of what he really really looks like?

I don't know, dammit I hate Jesus. Which one? I don't know I hate them all. Wait till one day I die, and I find out what he really really looks like and he actually speaks to me. Or am I WAITING and WATCHING for ressurection???

Dammit I hate that, no one has been ressurected yet, I hate that unressurected Jesus.

Wait a second how come I hate Jesus? I don't even know him. I can't hate anyone I don't know. Dammit I hate that.

I hate it when that happens.

I don't know- maybe it's my internal primitive instinct, but I just hate the people who made me worship an invisible higher power when I was a child, whom created a son named Jesus Christ- whom has probably millions of depictions of himself in an artistic view, whom I never met before as a child. Then ( InsanePotatoes ) I grew up, looked back and tried to figure out if I lost something (FAITH) that I couldn't have ever possibly gained in the first place unless I could touch it. Pretty pathetic unless you could prove it through a miracle.

There is a balance-of the ego: no miracles, no accidents.

So today I don't hate anyone, anything, anyplace, anywhere, for whatever reason, why ever, however, if ever, UNLESS I know first. If I know, then I can love.

If I don't know, I can't love, and I can't hate. It, I can hate. DAMN IT.

* A MESSAGE TO IT - YOU ARE NOT HIGHER THAN ME - DO YOU GOT THAT? * * probably not reading this anyway - dammit I knew it -

it just doesn't care anymore does it. I hate it *

I hate it, because it doesn't make sense being something I can't hate if I don't know what it is, then I hate it when that happens. Then I end up hating it, and then it goes away.

So there is skepticism of why Jesus is hated in the first place, before Christianity is going to get full definition of hate - I think.

To "InsanePotatoes", from my friend, "Desypher". "If there is no creater, ( or what some people would call God because of that reason of being created ), there must have been something whether God/creater/machine- or higher power that made this besides ourselves because no one being can create themselves. So, what does that leave 'us'?

It leaves us in a place of awe of present creation, past creation, and future creation.

-"Desypher" A.K.A- asdf/// P.S. Lack of belief if anything leads to Hell. Without that belief, we are left alone."

P.P.S.- To one pleasure there is a lifetime of suffering.. to one instance of suffering there is a lifetime of pleasure compared to that suffuring.

-Again, not necessarily my words, but I agree. -PFlack.

There is the possibility of skepticism of the hatred for God/Jesus Christ and Christianity.

Maybe it is a question that should be rephrazed?

:tsu: good post (btw, did you know Ghandi believed in the ressurection of christ?)

However, I'm tired of people confunding one or two Christians with christianity. If it is legitime to blame christianism for the despicable acts of a insignificant minority of christians who, in fact have for sure an higher amount of good, honest, holy people amongst their ranks than any other institucion in the world (only rivalising with buddhism perhaps ^_^ ), then it also legitime to condemn the whole human race, or the whole America, or all sausage makers :D (I know of one who cheated in the casino, that's bad! )

Jesus is not hated, however the religion born of what he taught (the original hebrew scriptures) and of later books (new testament) is what is hated.

so, you are against his teachings, not his person? you are against a message of forgiveness and love?

Christians are hated because historically they have shed blood to gain converts,

indeed, their own

and never forget the "Holy" crusades, into the middle east to find objects that have been lost for millenia.

 rofl - I think that was Indiana Jones actually or maybe you're reading too many templar/graal/masonry books, no? :hmm:

Personally i believe there may be a higher power, but what ever it is, it just doesn't care anymore.

 that's dumb friend. so, when you are having dinner you don't care what you are actually eating? when you are having sex you don't care who is in the other side of the bed? you also don't mind which party governs your country?

really, that such a wise and mature way of living :tu: keep on
