indeed, Silver.

gideon, where did the christians get their "the world is our dominion" idiology from? Christianity didn't come up with the idea of raping and pillaging the planet, nor were they the first to implement methods to do so. It is just because they worked so hard at "spreading the word" that the damage under christianity is so great. It is all in the numbers.

Actually many do have that mentality. I wanna say it's the Magna Carta... but I'm probaly wrong... Anyways, there was this doctrine writen by one of the earlier presidents (I wanna say Madison) THat said that god wanted the us to spread across the lands and take it.

Many (Not all) Christians believe that god gave humans the earth and the plants and animals for them to use and abuse... and even some yet still believe (There was one person on Ragean's administration who firmly believed this) That the onlyway to bring the judgment day about is to strip the lands of trees and kill every animal.. use every resource... just completely make the earth inhabbitable.

What some say is "God or gods given" right to destroy Mother Earth... I call human greed and ignorance.

*sighs* Even the Native Americans... There are tribes here who won land through lawsuits. What did they do to it? Build casinos and strip malls...

Indeed.

It is funny that any trip thriuogh the US of A and contact with natives, they always correct you and say AMERICAN INDIAN enphasize the American part..

For a people who where butchered, lied to, had their way of life taken away, kinda makes you wonder...

If you can't beat em...

I gotta add my two cents here too, Its vulgar and heinous the way that religion has advocated and spread a concept that has just about destroyed our planet, now, not all christians are culprits i do know several that do care, I think it helps to raise awareness and understanding of the planet and the condition its in I have found people just don't know especially in america we are very sheltered here. If I could say anything i would say it would serve us all to give a damn and a little care makes a huge difference, I'm glad to read posts such as yours and hypers , we have to be concerned about that which sustains us.Sorry guys to preach but I just had too. namaste Sheri

Are you talking about pollution? And are you blaming pollution on Religion?

The fact is thus: This planet is far from being...destroyed. I doubt we could destroy the planet if we tried.

Joc, the top soil is just about gone, the ozone layer has holes in it, valuable minerals needed by the human body are no longer in the soil, the food supply is so poisioned I wouldn't eat anything unless its organic they have reports that show the vitamin and nutrient content of fruits and vegtables i suggest you research, the oceans fish as so full of mercury and other toxins , i don't really play the blame game it serves no purpose except to put people on the defense, but in religons ignorance (the I don't know ignorance) the planet is regarded as a endless source to do whatever and with no conseguences, SIMLPY NOT TRUE. The rain forest is raped and pillaged we need the rain forest, read The ancient hours of Sunlight by Thomm Hartmann you'll get a good picture of the state of our planet. namaste Sheri

I don't need to read a book to understand the state of the planet. The top soil isn't just about gone.... Where the hell did it go? Evaporate? Come on...I'm not saying the Earth isn't polluted somewhat. But close to being destroyed? Gimme a break on that one, eh? B)

I don't have on blinders..nor rosey colored glasses. The Earth is FAR from unliveable...to listen to some (SherriBerri inparticular) we would be led to believe that we are about to draw our last collective breath. The Jungles...also known as the Rain Forests could all be concrete and the Earth would still be quite liveable. Have you people forgotten that 3/4ths of the Planet's surface is water? Mercury in fish? So what? Are people dying in droves from it? Or at all? I eat Tuna all the time. Yeah, I'm gonna die...but not from that. Let's just get a little real on all of this huh? ;)

Joc i'm not gonna try and convince you of anything you seem to know best. Its serious the state of the planet , the top soil where did it go?? the methods used to grow crop have abused the natural cycle the earth goes through the top soil has erroded, its very true, do you know why there is an organic movement??? Many cases of cancer are being linked to pesticides used to mass harvest food, Do you eat stuff a bug won't eat, The earth is not far from unliveable, you have the choice to beleive and do what you want and it seems this doesn't concern you but just in case we are right I'd appreciate that you heart the efforts of a few that do alot to see to it that you will enjoy life as you know it. Look into first then call me a liar, You know I wish it wasn't true.. namaste Sheri

Hey-I challenge you to reject Jesus and follow God!

Jhn 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jhn 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

According to the sciptures you must have and unction from God to understand the gift That he has givin us, The Gift of life through his SON Jesus,You must be washed with the blood of the lamb.In other words you must except Jesus as your savior in order to dwell in Gods presence. For Jesus is the washer of our sins.

Jhn 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

Jhn 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

Jhn 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

Jhn 6:66 From that [time] many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

You aren't right. You couldn't be further from the truth. I'm not calling you a liar...a liar is someone who says what they know is not true...I know you believe the planet is dying and that we are killing it. But we aren't and it isn't and we couldn't if we wanted to.

I have to agree with both of you. Joc is right, Mother Earth is darn hardy she will outlast all of us. And she can handle a lot more than we can throw at her.

But if we want to look after her and keep our lives as comfortable and healthy as they are. We need to start being a little tidier, we need to keep things like the air and the water and the forrests clean and working.

After all we are the only ones in this entire galaxy with the good fortune of having a planet which is inhabitable, we should take more care of it.

Joc the human body is a living organism you can for a time abuse it fill it with toxins poisions not excercise it fill it with processed sugars, over consume meat it will bounce back for a time but , look around the health care system is strained and most of the recommendations are take care of your self eat less eat fuits vegtables drink water, then no one does it and they wonder why they are sick, its the same with the planet she is a living organism also i disagree that she can bounce back to her hearty self after repeated abuse, she can adjust herself but what of the quality , we are at a point right now that disregard no concern for the planet has to change, its not meant to scare you Joc, its your choice if you don't want to beleive, i just asked that you look into it maybe there is nothing maybe there is something You are saying you are certain there is no validity to what I'm saying , Whats your sources??? I'm open to hearing your ideas, If you don't beleive which is also your choice I asked that you heart those that do devote their lives for the betterment of others, i can think of more worthy things to argue about besides those that want to take good care of our planet leave it good for our kids. ...its the same with the planet she is a living organism...

The planet is not a living organism Sherri. It is a hunk of rock traveling through space with an eco-system. Probably the only eco-system. Within the eco-system are living organisms, and I understand...it is the living organisms you are concerned about. After all, a hunk of rock with no eco-system is just another hunk of rock. So, what of the eco-system? Is it fragile as you suggest? Hardly, and my sources are the history of the planet. This hunk of rock has been through extremes the like of which we can't even fathom. Ice ages, Volcanic ages, Eons of change back and forth. Consider volcanic eruptions for a moment. More pollution and toxic substances are put into the atmosphere through volcanic eruptions than all of the pollution made by man in the history of man. The planet has a self cleaning system. We don't like them much but they are commonly known as Hurricanes and Typhoons. They have a unique way of cleansing the planet.

All of this is interesting yet it is off topic in its current debate form. Perhaps we could take this argument up in the debate forums. :tu:

eh.. it's not a hunk of rock really.. under the crusty surface is like a pulse... molten lava that moves and causes the upper plates to move.

I'd hardly call the earth a non living planet... it's very much alive.

Molten lava is not alive. The Crust is not alive. However, practically every square inch of the crust is covered with living organisms. If the Earth had no atmosphere the core would freeze and it would be just another hunk of frozen rock.

But you are missing the point. *slaps SC up the side of the head with a fresh salmon...mercury and all*

The Rock is not alive Sherri. For Pete's sake...are you just taunting me on purpose? Sometimes you come across like you have a bit of a clue and then other times like now, you seem completely moronic. You are confusing the hell out of me.

I just said that practically every square inch of Earth is swarming with life. The Rock contains life...it has life on it...it, the rock, in and of itself is NOT alive. Now, if you continue to insist that a rock is alive I am going to have to get me another salmon!

Joc, the speciessytem (ecosystem or noosphere) is interrelated and supports all of us from me to the trees etc. I hope we can agree a tree is alive, it doesn't have the same needs as a human but we support each other, A rock may not be walking around (isn't but it is alive all things are alive or they are dead, because we don't see the movement of a rock doesn't mean it isn't moving, that clears up once you look under a high powered microscope, why is it important ot you to argue on non arguements, I'm interested in the care and stewardness of mother earth. namaste Sheri

Joc ther are many ways to be alive

Okay that's it...*slaps SherriBerri up the side of the head with salmon dipped in arsenic*

I live in the real world Sherri. Where definitions rule the day. There are not 'many ways to be alive'. There is only one way. I'm sure you took biology at some point.

A Rock is not a living force. Oh, never mind, I must go to bed now.
