1-25-06 More Pics Added!!

Hello all. We investigated Goatmans Bridge in Denton, TX this evening and came up with some pretty interesting pictures. We used both 35 millimeter film and a digital camera. Unfortunately the digi cam was purchased this evening at Wal-Mart and turned out to be a cheap peice of crap. It's going back tomarrow! The 35 mm film will be taken to be developed tomarrow so I'll have more detailed info.

Directions to Goatmans Bridge.

In Dallas, take I-35E North until you get to the Swisher Rd. exit. Make a Left on Swisha and go down about 5 or 6 miles. The road will curve to the right and there will be a High School on your right. Just before the curve there is a small road that goes out to a bridge. Make a left on that road. If you make the complete curve you've gone too far. The bridge is only about 2 blocks down the road you turn off of Swisher Rd (which is actually Teasily LN, the name changes but it's the same as Swisher). You'll see a concrete bridge but on the left you'll see Old Alden Bridge aka Goatmans Bridge.

The legend is that there was a lot of Satan worshipping there and they managed to conjure up a half goat half man type entity called goatman. Supposedly if you squint your eyes you can see goatman. I've also heard that if you turn off your lights and honk 3 times goatman will appear. I didn't find out about this until after I got home, so next time I go out I'll try it.

The bridge is closed off and only for walking now so you'll have to park on the concrete bridge and walk down to it. It's an old 19th century red iron bridge.

The pictures we took so far are a bit creepy but the resolution is worse than my camera phone. Barely anything came out so I'm waiting for the 35mm to be developed. There is PLENTY of fog though and there was no fog on the bridge. No orbs or anything were picked up with the peice of crap digi cam. I'll be back out there later this week. Yall tell me what yall think! The only enhancement on the pics was the adjust the brightness. Again, I'm sorry for the poor resolution, I'm taking the cam back tomarrow and getting a better one!

EDIT! You might want to download the pictures and open them up in fullscreen mode so you can see the ENTIRE pictures. I didn't realize I uploaded them so big. Especially the last one!

EDIT AGAIN: Here is the strange part. The pics with FOG came out blurry on both the 35mm and the digi cam. Pics without anything came out perfectly clear with both cameras.

I love the photos. I'm still trying to get the last two to open for me. The second fog photo almost has a creepy face look to it. As for the temp drop reading....I'd have to shrug that off as since you were on a bridge, it's usually a bit cooler there than on the ground. Great work though! Thanks so much for sharing with us all.

thank you all for the encouragement and kind words. It's a lot of fun! As soon as I gather enough info about different places I'm going to put it all on a little webpage. I just ordered an EMF meter aswell so I'll get some readings from that. If anyone has any places to investigate or any advice on gear I'd love to hear them! I can't wait to go back to San Antonio when I'm more prepared to investigate. Also, as I was looking for a different bridge, also called Goatmans Bridge out in seven points some locals told me about a trailer park in Houston (hahha, yes, a haunted trailer park) that was built on an old Indian barriel ground.

What got me was she said (real hick lady) that her uncles trailer park was haunted, lots of things moved around (rearranged themselves) but he AUDIO TAPES their voices! She didn't seem like anyone into EVPS or anything like that so it was suprising that she said that which makes me think it's legitament. She said she's never heard of the term EVPs but her uncle first picked it up while he was recording his daughter or someone singing and heard a voice on the recording that said "she sings so good".

I'm real excited about that one! My family lives in Houston! It's going to be a BLAST!!!

Hello!!!

I graduated from UNT in Denton. Goatman uhhhh? I have something better for you. You guys should investigate the the ghost thats at Maple Hall at UNT.(dorm) A young lady was killed a while back and her body was found behind the building. They never found the killer but suspected one of the janitors. Alot of weird stuff has gone on at Maple Hall and I never requested to stay there. If that doesn't spook you, should ask about ask people about the two ghosts at Bruce Hall. There is something (very mean) in the basement of Bruce Hall and another female ghost who lurks the hallways!! All campuses of full of ghosts though..Nice pics!!!

Is there a goat man in each state?:blink:

hahaha. yea. goatman seems to be a popular myth. I was just reading a website last night but I can't seem to find it now. It talks about the legend of goatman. Supposedly there are so many reports because these creatures have multiplied throughout the world. I don't know how much of it I believe but I do have a theory.

I think many places associated with witchcraft, satan worship and perhaps even haunted form a certain "mainstream" (for lack of a better word) legend. So all these places, perhaps not what the legend says, is indeed actually haunted or has some type of paranormal activity. Perhaps some are urban legend but perhaps most aquire that urban legend through a little bit of truth.

It's like the railroad tracks in San Antonio where the kids school bus got hit. I've been there and seen it for myself. But after looking through the net, there are dozens of "haunted railroad tracks" throughout the United States, TWO OTHERS IN SAN ANTONIO and one near Dallas where I am from. Does that mean that at every track children died? Probably not. But perhaps there is something supernatural going on so they have aquired the urban legend about the kids bus getting hit by the railroad because indeed "something" supernatural is going on there.

My biggest question is why is every single Spagetti Warehouse in Texas haunted??

Funny thing about it is, there is no record of an accident involving a schoolbus full of kids. Secondly, it's an optical illusion. This area has rolling hills, and natural caverns that are not yet exposd with an opening. So what seems like going slightly uphill, is really going parallel, and what seems like going parallel is really going slightly downhill. Also, natural occurring phenomena such as a vortex might cause a fluctuation in the earth's magnetic field such as the "oregon vortex"

My biggest question is why is every single Spagetti Warehouse in Texas haunted??

LOL.... right. It seems all the old two story spagetti Warehouses were old pubs, like the one in downtown Houston.

I think you have the Goatman's bridge story a little off. I've lived in Denton and now I go to school here and everytime I hear this story it goes like this. In the late 1800's Denton was quite small and Arglye (where goatmans bridge is) barely existed. There was a man that lived out that way who owned several goats and that was how he supported himself. Many of the merchants in Denton thought this old man to be very odd. This guy was a loner and no one knew much about him. Many of the older people in Denton knew this guy and remembered that his wife died mysteriously. A few of the men in Denton got drunk and started riding around the area. They found the old loner herding his goats late at night and drove the old man and his goats off the bridge. When the sheriff found out about this he investigated and could no longer find the old man or his goats.Weeks later after an event in the city a family was crossing the bridge in their wagon and could hear odd noises from underneath the bridge. After they crossed the bridge they looked back and saw the man staring at them, holding the heads of goats, one under each arm. Now the stories are that you can hear the sound of hooves on the bridge and splashes in the water and some people say they saw the man but his head was a goats head. I've been to this bridge many times and scared countless freshman but I've never seen the man. I do admit that the bridge is a unnerving at night and I have heard the splahes and heard weird sounds while standing on the bridge. I have also heard it's a place statanists hang out. It's definately a good place to take a girl if you want her to hang all over you.

Holy sh**! My dad just got done telling me the story about the goatman! hahaha! I thought he was just pulling my leg, I had no idea there actually WAS a goatman legend. He grew up in texas, he knows the WHOLE story. His versions didn't involve devil worshippers though. He told me about a news broadcast about it when he was younger. I'll get him to tell me the whole story again so I can post it. Better yet, I can call my grandma and ask her. She probably knows ALL about it.

my friends and i read about the goatman bridge the other night and decided to explore it for ourselves... oh man. we went at about 10 or 11 at night, so it was really dark, and really creepy. we just stayed and sat on the bridge for a while, and we did hear the splashing in the water, although we didnt think much of it (maybe frogs? or fish jumping?). the one realllllly creepy thing was we heard laughing. and it wasnt normal laughing, it was like evil, menacing laughing coming from multiple directions. we had a dog with us, and even the dog was freaked out. we left shortly after that.

i didnt grow up around here, but i was telling a friend that had our story later, and he told me that he knew of the bridge. definatley a place to go check out.

does anyone know of any other local haunted places?? i'd love to know and go check them out.

Tempature reading (tempature is actually 46 everywhere else this evening)

Could the cameras use the same auto-focus method and in this trying to focus on a gery object not quite solid (in this case liquid) and not quite air as i would imagine an autofocus would try to wrestle with finding the correct range of millions of multi-ranged water particles there for not being able to focus correctly? Just a thought.

The railroad tracks thing is an optical illusion. The way the foilage grows and the landscape forms makes downhill seem uphill.

your photos seem kind of not very clear, and the colors are messed up. I have digital but it doesn't mess up like that ever. Nether does a normal polaroid picture I've taken then scanned.

Heres the shadow chap enchanced a bit for you, looks like half his face is illuminated and looks very joker-like, spooky!

- EDITED - Ive outlined it and enhanced the area what i thought looked a bit like half of the jokers face. Did this on request of poster.

I would be very careful about going out to the bridge again. It isn't the Goatman that is going to get you...it has a reputation as a freaky party place and gang-banger party site.

is it cold at night at that place, doesnt have to be freezing to have visible breath, and you might not even see it because theres not enough light, but your flash will take care of that.

the fog pictures look like mist breath to me.

next time as you take a pic look over the top of the camera at the area the flash will light up straight away, it might help you see if anything is being lit up.

me and my friends went up there couple nights ago, we live in lewisville... we went up to the bridge... and what we hard was there is supposedly an old abbandonded church if you follow the trail off the bridge... where satanists and kkk members sacrifice sh** and what not...

wierd crap went on...

we got there and like... we went on the bridge and we heard drums, is the best way i can describe it, something hitting something else keeping a constant beat. my friend took pics, and when he did the drums stopped... then we heard the sound of like a saw cutting through something. my friends batteries died and he put new batteries in but they died almost instantly. my friend had gone there the night before and killed a copperhead with a crowbar. we went there and couldnt find it. also, we met a couple ppl and they took us to an abandoned house and its all kinda collapsed and crap but it was still pretty interesting. my friend and his cousin also were on the bridge the night before and they heard a loud thump and saw some kind of hairy thing crawling across one side of the bridge to the other... my friend got pics of it but it was on a cell fone and it was soo dark you can hardly see it... we are going back this weekend.
