Saru Posted February 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2006 (edited) Team Debates Team debates work much the same way as ordinary debates, except there will be two or more participants on each side. The following outlines the post ordering for a team debate: 1. Team 1 - Single introduction 2. Team 2 - Single introduction 3. Team 1A - Main post 4. Team 2A - Main Post 5. Team 1B - Main post 6. Team 2B - Main post 7. Team 1 - Single conclusion 8. Team 2 - Single conclusion Taking it in turns to make the main post allows each side the chance to counter an arguement put forward by the opposing team. Standard debate rules apply throughout. How do I apply ? To apply for a team debate, look out for open debate topics looking for more participants. Once you find one you'd like to enter, simply make a short post in the thread to register your interest. Can I take part with a friend ? Yes, members can sign up for a debate together as a team, however if you prefer you can sign up for the debate on your own and the next person to sign up will be your team partner. What happens if one person from a team quits half way through? If the debate still has a way to go, we may find a replacement for the missing participant. If the debate is nearing the end, the remaining participant may just wish to go ahead and write the conclusion him/herself to finish off. The remaining participant will not be penalised if they continue on their own in this way. How are team debates judged ? The debates are judged using the same system as single debates, however it is the team that is being marked rather than on an individual basis. If you have any questions relating to team debates, please let me know. Edited March 2, 2006 by Lottie

Yelekiah Posted March 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2006 So the individual on Team A would only have one post? But as a team have 2 (intro and conclusion)?
+Link of Hyrule Posted March 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2006 I guess 1 main post each, with one person doing the intro, the other the conclusion? Is that right.
JohnnyBoyC Posted March 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2006 so both people on each team write an intro?

Guest Lottie Posted April 2, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2006 abecrombie, As Aztec states this is the format for 2v2 debates however, For your particular debate I was asked to make the main bodily posts longer and so I have already described how the debate will run in you 2v2 thread.
