Iran vows “crushing and lethal response” to attacks

Iran’s Defence Minister declared on Thursday that the Islamic Republic would give a “crushing and lethal response” to any military attack on its nuclear sites.

“If any country attempts aggression against Iran, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will give a crushing and lethal response”, General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar told the official news agency IRNA.

“Iran is resolute in obtaining and making use of peaceful nuclear technology and believes it to be the inalienable right of the entire Iranian nation to do so”, Mohammad-Najjar said.

“The issue over Iran’s nuclear file was technical but they turned it into a politico-security problem”, the general said of Wednesday’s decision by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s 35-nation Board of Governors.

“The whole world knows that by referring Iran’s nuclear program to the Security Council the international bodies have been discredited because they seek to weaken Iran”.

“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are fully prepared and will defend the country with all their strength and might”, the Defence Minister said.

Sounds like it'll be a showdown, either the UN backs down or Iran does, someone has to or this'll turn into World War III

Things are slowly taking shape. Looks like this train is leaving the station whether the west wants to go on a ride or not.

I wish Mako would look at these Chinese troop movements though and give his opinion.

Iran is not capable of a 'crushing and lethal' response. This is typical Iranian bombast.

The Chinese are not capable of intervening militarily.

I think there will be a massive war in middle-east ( most of Arab countrys vs Israel and US, UN) and meanwhile N-Korea will attack S-Korea as well as China attack Taiwan, I am not sure what Russians are going to do though..

If China was able to invade Taiwan they would have done so long ago.

If North Korea attacks South Korea it would have to use nukes. If North Korea uses nukes the United States will nuke all of North Korea. The North Koreans know that and will not attack.

Though i agree with you Sanjuro, If America and the west does attack Iran (which would have to bee the dumbest thing we could ever do) then American and western forces would be stretch to the limit.

Now what would be keeping North Korea (who we all can agree on really does have a crazy nutshell of a leader) from taking his 1 million man army and invading South Korea? Nothing. And North Korea's oil shortage might be tooken care of seeing as sanctions would probably be placed on Iran and North Korea would be a potential buyer of cheap Iranian oil.

So know you got America and the west fighting in, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, and possibility Syria.

And seeing as Iran has a active military of 1,755,000 persons, and North Korea has about 1,022,000 active military personal with both these countries are estimated to have around 3 million military personnel in reserve. PLUS if Syria gets into the mix they have 319,000 active military personnel and around 1 million in reserve this means America and the West could be facing a coalition of about 10,096,000 million men.

So this means even if the West has a 6-1 (every 6 NK, Iran, and Syrian killed or every 1 Westerner) the West is still looking at over 1,600,000 casualties.

THEN all this fighting going on you have the elephant in the room. China. Little Taiwan will be a sitting duck for China to flex it's muscles and show the world that there are now 2 superpowers in the world. And America's Asian forces wouldn't be able to stop it, because they would be tangled up in North Korea.

Though i hope am completely wrong here, but this could happen if where not careful. But Please let me be wrong.

I think we in the USA need to withdraw in many places and regroup as well as rebuild our industrial base. The days of the new nationalisms are fast on their way in across the globe. It is not a matter of choice as much as one of necessity.

I was banking on Isreal doing like they did back in the 1st persian gulf war, but your more then likely right and Isreal will be drawn into such a conflict.

I think if and when a strategic air strike will happen, It will be flown by Israeli jets and pilots.

Remember what Israeli Air Force did to Egypt back in the 60's when they were potentially building a nuclear arsenal, or at least attempting to?

Israel knows if Iran gets nuclear warheads on thier long range missiles, they are the #1 target, thus they have the biggest reason to strike back.

I really doubt China are a threat or will even get involved. They have far too much to lose if they did. E.g, Remember they are one of the worlds largest traders and trade heavily across Europe and the U.S.

true, The U.S. Mil. is capable in many methods of moving every single trooper around the world quick,fast,and in a hurry!

........Iran and China does have that capability.

not to mention training is terrible for the Iranian forces......

He reminds me of the info minister of Iraq as the US soldiers where behind him shooting and defeating them and he was saying the invaders were being defeated by them.
