bLu3 de 3n3rgy Posted March 5, 2007 #126 Share Posted March 5, 2007 I sometimes get that with plugging in plugs and cameras to the usb cords! The silver thing is interesting, I recently stopped wearing a silver bracelet that I had worn for years and I have noticed that I feel slightly better.....Maybe I should take off my other silver pieces
wvgirl1979 Posted March 5, 2007 #127 Share Posted March 5, 2007 My mother also cannot wear watches. I've given up trying to find ones that she won't shock and kill, lol. She also gets shocked everytime she touches something metal. We've been thinking about getting a humidifier - maybe reduced the static if nothing else. earthchick Posted March 6, 2007 #128 Share Posted March 6, 2007 I'm starting to think of shocks as a possible great means of aversion therapy for excessive shoppers. Tonight I went shopping and was subjected to zap after zap. It was happening everywhere, but when I finally went to the grocery store it was tripled at least. Every freezer or refridgerator door, every metal shelf I had to touch zapped me to the point that I could feel it in my hair. The support pillars in this store are covered by what looks like stainless steel, and one of those zapped me even though I walked past it from a foot away. There was an audible crackling sound when that happened. Lately, I've even been shocking my poor dog. At times, when his wet nose touches me we both get shocked. He always jumps back and looks at me reproachfully, as though he thinks i'm doing it to him on purpose.
dog soldier Posted March 8, 2007 #129 Share Posted March 8, 2007 I have the same problem. I just stopped buying watches. I know a lot of electrical things malfunction around me too. I posted it on UM. I go through a lot of light bulbs....
Mog Posted December 17, 2007 #130 Share Posted December 17, 2007 I have stopped watches for as long as I can remember. I remember in Junior high when I got my first watch that stopped. I returned it for a new one that stopped almost immediately. I stop other peoples watches if they get too close. In addition I can hover over the watch counter at Macys and many of the watches in the case will either stop or the second hands will begin moving very fast. I have learned through much trial and error that the nice swiss army watches do not stop on me. I have been wearing the swiss army watches for years with no trouble. However, as soon as I put on another watch it stops. This does not seem to correlate with the quality and price of the watch because I have stopped some really, really expensive watches. I have no answer and I was in fact searching the internet for a possible answer when I ran across this thread.

I thank another site owner for giving me this information ! Thanks gigs and G Man...I have never heard of the SLIDER phenomenon. Interesting. Apart from the watches I also hear the annoying TV sounds and I also have a lot of static. Electrical outlets most often spark and ark when I am plugging things in before I even touch the plug to the outlet. My house was hit by lightening with me in it once but I figured it was a chance encounter. Who knows.

I still hate the TV high pitch and street lights turn off a few times a week on me. I used to have watches stop all the time and got p***y with the battery situation and do not wear one anymore. I also have been zapped with the plug out let a time or 3 LMAO ! I had the freak close call with Lightning striking a few feet away from me. The smell, sound, and I jumpped like a bomb went off ( like in the movies ) with a huge explosion.

Just read the specs on a prospective watch and look for Anti-magnetic. This has allowed me to finally wear a watch.
silene Posted May 8, 2010 #144 Share Posted May 8, 2010 Just found this old trail of posts when looking for an answer to a life long question. I have always wanted to know why the watches I have owned stop. I have had every type of watch from my very first wind-up watch at the age of 5 to battery powered and kinetic watches and they have all stopped some within 12 hours and others take up to 6 months. All the battery powered clocks in the house stop after just a couple of months too. We can only rely on the mains powered clock that we have in the bedroom and my partner's watch. I would love to have some clue as to why this happens as at the moment there is not much point in me having a watch (I must have owned about 20 over the years). I haven't worn a watch since i got a cell phone 10 years ago. I suggest you use your cell as your time piece. Interesting that this happens to people though
bornmystic Posted May 16, 2010 #146 Share Posted May 16, 2010 <img src="http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> This is getting expensive. I've had 3 watches die in the past month. I've replaced the batteries in all of them and they keep stopping. What's up with this? Anyone else have this happen? I've bought the batteries at different stores, so I know I haven't just got into a crappy run of batteries. Also, the watches run a little after I have taken them off of my wrist. Could this be some kind of weird energy thing? This has happened to me before. It goes on for a while and then my watches run again. Just curious and a little annoyed..... I've never been able to wear watches because of this. I have kept all that I have received as gifts though just in case t they match my outfit!! I have the watch problem. My sister has a weird problem where when she takes walks at night, the street lights go off each time she walks underneith one. lol.

My sister says ( and my brother in law swears it is true) , that almost anything battery operated , she can not be around...She "drains" batteries....Honestly , they have no reason to make this up...After reading this , makes me wonder.... As for your sister and the street lights , please do not hate me for this...If they go off , every one of them she walks under , can you film this?...Street lights do go off for a while by themselves , they are made to do this , than come back on...Can't remember if it is a power saving thing , or the bulbs getting to cool down..... I thank another site owner for giving me this information ! This must be mee too.. I have gone thru 30 watches as i was a nurse..i ended up wearing them for decoration and using the wall clock to count pulse rates. Also have set off alarms in stores about 10 times..i freeze computers when anyone else can sit with no problem in front of the same computer. As for the lights, only had it happen a few times, so am not sure...the other night driving home 2 of them went out in a row as i passed under them..plus, i believe i am clairaudient... Keys to hotel rooms have to br reset a fewbtimes during a week stay... Does this sound familiar? I was electrocuted as a child by sticking a bobby pin in light socket and blowing the power totally out of the house..repair man said lucky wasnt killed.
