recon_soldier Posted April 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2006 Is it just me, or is it impossible to find a hi-res image of tycho, specifically the right side of the crator, after hours of browsing the net, the best i got is a craptastic image... ESA originally promised HI-res images, but that was over a year + ago...pathetic. if any one can help me out, please do

ESA originally promised HI-res images, but that was over a year + ago...pathetic. if any one can help me out, please do Some pointers, If you were looking for "Tycho Crator" you may not have got many hits, try "Tycho Crater". It maybe worth searching the Clementine web site. This was an experimental US Military satellite that mapped the moon: Clementine home page. Other sites that might be worth searching are the Lunar and Planetary Institute web site: LPI home page, and the NASA/JPL Planetary Photojournal Web site: photojournal home page (click on Earth and it will give you the option for the Moon). Be careful when reffering to right or left in astronomical images. Most astronomical telescopes reverse images, so what is right to the naked eye appears left in the telescopic image. Many images from spacecraft are produced as the eye would see them, but this is not always the case. It is best to refer to north, south, east or west as this avoids confusion. I hope this has been of some help.
