zarvirus Posted May 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2006 GIANT ANIMALS Crocodile [attachmentid=25808] The photograph shows a crocodile that was shot and killed on 6 July 2003 at Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo. According to an article in allafrica.com, the reptile was a Nile crocodile, he was estimated to be 50 years old, about 16 feet in length, and about 1,900 lbs. The local mayor reportedly insisted on preserving the crocodile's carcass against the efforts of locals who wanted to eat it and arranged for it to be shipped to a taxidermist. Kodiak Bear [attachmentid=25810]Dalliwacker (nickname) shot this giant grizzly while hunting. The bear was actually ten feet high and weighed between 1,000 and 1,200 pounds. Like all good hunters, he won't be specific about where he got it. Moose [attachmentid=25809]According to The Hunting Report, this moose was shot in 2001 on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula by Jay Link. He says he and his brother flew into an area by helicopter that is very remote and where the animals are not hunted very much and have opportunity to reach full maturity. zarvirus Posted May 19, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted May 19, 2006 HYBRID ANIMALS Mule [attachmentid=25813]The Mule is the result of breeding a female horse (mare) to a male donkey / burro / ass (jack). The mule is superior to the hinney and horse in strength, endurance, intelligence and disease resistance Liger [attachmentid=25814]The Liger is the result of breeding a female Tiger to a male Lion. This Picture illustrates just how large these hybrids can grow to be. "In tigers, the fathers contribute the genes that limit growth. In lions, the mothers contribute the genes that limit growth. When you take a female tiger, and a male lion, the offspring (liger) have no genes to regulate how big they get. They just keep growing their whole lives. On the other hand, a tiger father and a lion mother will make a tigon. Tigons are much smaller than their lion and tiger parents because they have two sets of growth limiting genes." Wolphin [attachmentid=25815]The Wolphin is the result of a Whale and a Dolphin. In this case, a Killer Whale and a Bottlenose Dolphin.
