Yeah dude, take it easy. You sound like an angry pornstar. You also gotta learn how to spell. Bashing is against the forum rules. Unfortunately, I didn't know it was either.

Since you are a genius, you should that god never said he would control your life, neither did the prophets.

Well he did by telling if we will making good stuff we will go in heaven or for bad stuff in hell.

So almost anybody was doing good stuff (10 commandments)

P.S: The quote doesn't work for me.

*Glares at it*

Use the quote system like this:
*insert text here*
Hope that helps :tu:

Would it kill me to believe in god is the question. Yes it would because I would be living a lie. But then I do believe in many Gods and Goddesses and they are a big part of my life. Would it kill you to believe in them?

Well, probably not but why take the chance!

Does going through the motions of believing mean you actually believe? How can one change the state of their heart simply by doing things? If you don't believe, then you don't believe, and pretending to believe just makes you a hypocrite.

Guess it's a matter of willpower.

As PA has stated, if you are just paying lip service to god "just in case", then that is worse than not believing at all.

According to MOST religions, a sincere belief in the deity in question is required.

What you are suggesting makes a mockery of those who have a deep seated, genuine belief in their god/religion/faith.

I would prefer an authentic atheist or hard core christian to a hypocrite.

It's not that I don't believe in God. It is more that I don't believe in a Christian/Muslim/Jewish God. All religions have their flaws, so I think that we will probably never find out the true God. (And I say that without trying to sound like I am ridiculing you.)

Guess I should of thought of that. It's true. Though there are some people who don't believe in God, but would enjoy doing so. I think that if someone has just a bit of belief in God, and they start to pray, and learn about religion, their belief would become stronger over time. One of the main reasons that people don't believe in God is religion and it's flaws. Instead of looking at the teachings of religion, people would rather look at it's flaws. They then think.........."well, if God's all-knowing, then why is his religion flawed?" I'd also like to point out that alot of people don't search for a belief system. There are many religions out there, with their own teachings, and their own message of one true God. I'll bet westerners only look at the teachings of christianity, in the same way that the east mainly looks at the teachings of Islam. If they see that one religion is flawed, they will assume that every religion is flawed. For example, christianity says that there's such a place as hell. I don't think that if God is so loving and forgiving, he would he create a hell.

So for an alternate answer, I turn to my religion, which sais that hell is the state of being far from God, and heaven the state being close to him. Now if I was born in canada, and I was a christian, I would likely become an athiest, because some of the teachings of christianity don't make sense. So you see what I'm saying? If everyone was well informed, I'm sure they would find a belief system that suits them. Hell, even believe God in your own way. Here's one piece of work I think you'd enjoy reading:

"Baha'u'llah emphasizes the fundamental obligation of human beings to acquire knowledge with their "own eyes and not through the eyes of others." One of the main sources of conflict in the world today is the fact that many people blindly and uncritically follow various traditions, movements, and opinions. God has given each human being a mind and the capacity to differentiate truth from falsehood. If individuals fail to use their reasoning capacities and choose instead to accept without question certain opinions and ideas, either out of admiration for or fear of those who hold them, then they are neglecting their basic moral responsibility as human beings. Moreover, when people act in this way, they often become attached to some particular opinion or tradition and thus intolerant of those who do not share it. Such attachments can, in turn, lead to conflict. History has witnessed conflict and even bloodshed over slight alterations in religious practice, or a minor change in the interpretation of doctrine. Personal search for truth enables the individual to know why he or she adheres to a given ideology or doctrine.

Bahá'ís believe that, as there is only one reality, all people will gradually discover its different facets and will ultimately come to common understanding and unity, provided they sincerely seek after truth."

It's not that it would kill me to believe in god, its that I don't care enough to believe in god. I have my beliefs, I am honest with myself on that and I come to the conclusion time and time again that I am an atheist, if I beleived in god, I would be lying to myself, and it would be a waste of time that could be spent using to make the world a better place for the future and enriching the lives of my family and friends. I will not force myself to pretend to believe in something when I will never believe it in my mind, I may appear to, buts thats all. To me, death is the end of the line, and so why should I expend effort on something that I believe will never come to pass? (i.e. an afterlife)

People should not be forced into a concept they do not believe in, a christian god does not make ense to me, so I don't believe in christianity, I don't believe in any god really, for that same reason. If I were to believe any religion, it would have to make sense to me. It is not right, on a moral level, for oyu to tell people what they should believe and why, you can inform them, sure, but don't tell them what to do.

Ummm, have YOU looked at the title of this subforum of Unexplained Mysteries?

It is called "Spirituality vs Skepticism "

If you do not like discussions about faith or the lack thereof, then why bother to post? No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to read these threads.

I could ask these same questions of you all;

Would it kill you to believe in Allah?

Would it kill you to believe in Jehova?

Would it kill you to believe in Dagon?

Would it kill you to believe in Ahura Mazda?

Why should you only believe in one god and risk being wrong?

read the bible you will find that god does not "change his mind". And by throwing insults at me is not going to make me change my mind.

So i'm not open to new ideas eh? Every idea you people threw at me, i looked into, i found that they were in no way shape or form suitable for me. If you cant handle that then thats your problem. Everyone here thinks they know me and think that i dont "look into" other beliefs, for gods sake my mother is Buddist. Trust me i have looked into alot of things and everytime i do that something brings me back to god.

No i cannot prove he exsists, i've stated that numerous times, and if you would have read correctly i said "statement of faith" which means, i cant prove it i only believe in it. Just because i believe in something i cant see doesnt mean that i have no logic, or i am stupid. Logic is in the eye of the beholder, either the circle starts and ends or it's continuous it cant be both.

Seriously stop trying to treat me like i was raised in christanity, and i'm so blind that i dont know what i'm saying, or believing. Don't let God annoy you! :tu:

Your god doesn’t annoy me my friend only the attitudes of some of its followers.

And again you misinterpret what is being said to you. when you make statements such as science is inconsistent and wrong in certain areas ect you cannot expect people to not correct you and point out your mistakes in understanding when making such bold statements one would expect you have a more in-depth knowledge of what it is you claimed to be wrong this you have show is not the case

With regards to the circle thing is it not just a curved line until complete? Where does a wheel start and finish >? You see your logic regarding this is flawed in order for there to be a start and finish one would need some one to draw a line a man made division applied to separate an otherwise continuous form as to fit in with his linear expectations these starts and finish you speak of are just the same. Human constructs designed to separate and nothing more

Had you read the quotes too you would see that some of what you have quoted was for someonelse

Not trying to insult anyone's beleifs here, this is an honest question

How do you justify that your god is the only god when other religions who worship deities (such as the egyptian religion) have been around longer than christianity?

If I believe in anything, I believe in the Egyptian Pantheon more than Christianity. Why is Christianity the religion with the true God? You don't think that older religions LIKE the Egpytian Pantheon said the exact same thing? To me, religion is basically what gives you hope. I do not like when people try to question MY faith, and then telling me that I will go to Hell for not believing in God. I live a good and virtuous life. I do tons of charity.

I don't understand why I respect people for believing in God, but people won't respect me until I do believe in God.

Didn't realize I threw a "fit", but anyway, yeah I know about the crusades. You're also right, PEOPLE think their religion is somehow superior. Maybe because they have more followers, or their teachings make more sense.......I don't know.

People should not be forced into a concept they do not believe in, a christian god does not make ense to me, so I don't believe in christianity, I don't believe in any god really, for that same reason. Exactly. So you gotta be informed man.

Well, because that one God told us not to create or worship any other Gods, that's pretty much why. We're also talking about one God who knows what we think, who is everywhere with us, and who is always listening.
