September 11th is more than the attacks. However, that said, RIP to those fallen in the attacks. Hope they soon catch the real crooks.

Happy Eithiopian New Year!!

RIP. PETER TOSH, the tuffest. 1944 - 1987. A career was short, when he was brutally murdered at his home. Though robbery was officially said to be the motivation behind Tosh's death, many believe that there were ulterior motives to the killing, citing that nothing was taken from the house.

Your music live on.

Some thing is up with the server. It didn't put in what I posted.

What I posted was:

What did you do today to honor those who died?

Did you go to a service, pray, or do a ritual?

My neighbor went to a special mass.

I am going to do something in my nightly ritual before I go to bed.

Well, it does that sometimes especially if you have to refresh right after posting or if the board "times out" while posting.

What did you do today to honor those who died?

I spoke with friends, visited with my mom and hugged my boyfriend today. I also had a delicious lunch and played with my kitty-cats.

I posted on UM as well but most people didn't have anything nice to say. :(

Because of a sprained ankle I was immobile, so I spent most of my day on UM seeing people disrespect the loss of life.

I actually didnt do anything for them :( i didnt even realize what day it was, i might do something a little late for them tonight though

what do you mean disrespect the loss of life? Im sure everyone on here is very sorry that all of those people died, and anyone who isnt should be ashamed of themselves, whether they like Americans or not, it's sad to see that many people die at once

Think again. There's this one.

And this one.

Edit: There is no need to go over old ground.

well i kinda get what PA was talking about, i mean most people do make a bigger deal out of things if they happen in the USA, buit that still doesnt mean you should just forget about everything else that has happened, but you shoulndt forget about what happened here either. But still, i say anyone who can honestly look me in the eye and say that they arent sorry for all the people who died that day deserves to die. IMO.

demonic,

is it not a rather bit judgemental to say somebody that is "not sorry so many people died" should die? Should we spend our entire lives mourning all the death that constantly goes on around us? This is a philosophical question.

Isn't it amazing the obsession with numbers we see when it comes to death?

Of course people forget. Of course people don't care. But who is anyone to say that another should feel differently? The big and the small events effect us all, just differently. A big event to you is a small event to the next. If we preceed to condemn others for not meeting our own expectations, than the "needless deaths" will never stop piling up, will they?

In answer as to what I did to honor those who died...I continued to work to support those that are taking the fight to those cowards....Honor the men and women of the militaries that are helping stabilize the government of Afghanistan and that are hunting down the craven cowards that wish to destroy the freedom that most of the world enjoys.

notice i said IMO, in my opinion, and i wasnt seriously saying they should die, im just saying its pretty bad if you dont think a bunch of people dying is sad/bad. And you dont have to agree with me if you dont want to, if you dont think its bad that all of them died, then im ok with that (i know that kinda sounds like im contradicting myself but im not, im a complicated guy)

Have a look at Never_Hit_Nirvana's posts and the links provided.

Everyone is not sorry, some even said that those that died deserved it.

anyone who isnt should be ashamed of themselves

Should be but aren't, sad to say.

hyperactive, I think you and demonic presence are on the same side yet you are addressing him in a hostile manner. I'm not sure why.

no no.. i did not mean to sound hostile to demonic. I was merely using his last line as a lead in to how if we don't stop passing judgements on each other as a species the countless senseless deaths will continue to pile up.

I would simply say what i have been saying for the past few years...

9/11 is a day to reflect when the world changed... To think only of the people who lost their lives on that day, isn't quite getting the full story. It is indeed tragic that so many innocent people lost their lives on that day. But it scares me how the actions of 19 people have changed the world forever.

I choose to remember those who died on 9/11, and those who have died as a consequence of that day.

-The people who died in Madrid

-The people who died in London

-The people who have been kidnapped and executed

And also, i choose to remember the innocent men, women and children of Iraq and Afghanistan, who didn't ask for any of this to happen. They didn't ask for bombing runs to kill their family. They didn't ask for a bunch of strangers to come and invade their country... They didn't ask to live in fear every single day of their lives...

In effect, the terrorrists were killing their own people. they started all of this. But i do not beleive that the way to solve the problem is with more violence.

Noone deserves to die... Noone... but it happens.

The world is now a scary place to live in. So we need to take a look at it, and try and show a lil bit of decency and respect for human life, so as not to lower ourselves to the terrorrist's level

I didn't start this thread to discuss who was right or wrong that day. I just wondered if anyone had done anything special.

I'll say this, I love my country, but I hate my government and what it has become. The people who died in the buildings, the planes, the police, and firefighters didn't deserve what happen to them. But I do feel my government shares some of the blame for what happen with a very poor track record of foreign policy.

Now having said that lets get back on topic.

I cant help to feel that all this fluff over sept. 11 is mostly about the fluff. Its like if you dont do something big or do something at all your bad or unamerican. Ive seen way to many commercials and way to many shows about it.

It sucks that they died. It sucks that any one dies. Exspecialy(I cant spell nor do i try) from murder. But theres people dieing today in iraq and in other countries. Since 9/11 and before 9/11. Leave the mourning to those who lost a loved one or a friend. Its like in school when the kid died in a car wreck or commited suicide. I know every school had em I know in my state everyone ive talked to had that happen there senior year.

Everyones wearing his tee shirt, meeting infront of school and balling at the counslers office. Funny thing is all those kids never talked to him and some even picked on em. But when they die its like everyone was there best friend. Sure they should feel sorry that it happen but dont put on a act for the sake of the act.

Mourn cause you mourn for the loss of someone you knew. But I think its tacky to mourn for someone who lost someone a year ago. Feel for em yes but feel for everyone who has lost someone, sept 11 or not.

sorry darkwind.

to answer your question I did nothing (other than notice the large number of television shows that were being aired related to it).

to put that in perspective, i don't do anything to "remember" any particular dates that have either directly or indirectly affected me. I don't "relive" events. I take what there is from the event and proceed (or "i prefer to look forward rather than back").

I'd agree with that statement whole-sale..Some of the 9/11 things were solemn and respectful, and in good taste. Some were obviously trying to stir the pot up again or profiteer on emotions that run high..

Either way it's getting far too difficult to even tell the difference anymore; and as a whole; I'm against anything that uses pathos to influence nation-wide thought..

How true; Falco... Let us turn our attention to country singer Alan Jackson who wrote "where were you when the world stopped turning"

I think it is disgusting to make profit out of people's grief and anguish

I guess I don't watch much TV any more, so I missed out on a lot of that stuff. I turn it on to see if there is a hurricane coming and that is about it other than millionaire and some science and history programs on PBS. I get my news off the net. I don't worry about what the greed mongers do.

I did have cable when the day the Towers went down, CNN brought it into our homes and one cannot help but be affected by it. I remember seeing the second plane hit. Even if you didn't know anyone who was killed it changed your life and you shared the grief. My Dad would talk about Peal Harbor on the anniversary of it. I guess 9/11 is our Peal Harbor and it will always be with us.

In my religion I honor the dead with every ritual, because they are still with us. I honored those who died on 9/11, because so many died unjustly. Wither I knew them or not doesn’t matter, thanks to CNN they died in my living room that day.

I returned to the scene.

Attended a service at St Pauls church a block away, remembered the fallen, and spent the rest of the day with my family and friends.

Heinous as that was; Green Day should probably be arrested for thier conduct. They took a years-old song, written about the lead singers' dead father and re-released it as a special 9-11 number and made millions off it..

At least those idiotic Dixie chicks were honest in thier criticism..Green Day are just a bunch of profiteers that should be drug out into the street and shot..

How be we show them just how much ugly "Ugly Americans" can achieve?

I participated in a Motorcycle (police/Fire engine led) escorted parade with over 3000 motorcycles ( mostly harleys)....All the proceeds went to the patriot fund ( family's who lost loved ones protecting freedom ).....I believe over 50,000 dollars raised for those famil's...All the bikes had Amercan flags waiving proudly , and all the stopped traffic at intersections , and people on the streets of Reno waived flags and cried with us....Awesome feeling when you feel the Patriotism and togetherness.....

God Bless all who we lost , and all who fight for Freedom...
