EnglishArcher Posted October 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2006 (edited) The commander of the British Army stated this week that the British Armed forces should be pulled out of Iraq. General Sir Richard Dannatt feels the precence of British troops are making the situation worse in Iraq. Now the senior ministers in our country want him sacked for his outspoken comments. If he does get sacked there could possibly be a public backlash as the majority of the public support a pull out in Iraq. I agree with his comments, but i feel he should of kept his political opinions to himself. We are not going to pull out soon, we know it was all based on a lie, the war was all about the oil. The US and British oil comapanys must be laughing all the way to the bank. Just my opinion. Lord Umbarger Posted October 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2006 (edited) Interesting. Just recently, there were several generals asking for MORE troops. When that happened people were saying that the war was a failure because no one planned this far ahead. Now that there is a general wanting to withdraw from some areas, ( in his televised comments, he stated that he only wanted to pull out of a few of the more hotly contested aresas), people are again saying that the war is a failure because one general thinks that his troops should with draw from the most dangerous regeons. Isn't this the exact opposite of what you are supposed to doto win a war? I mean, aren't you supposed to close with the enemy and kill it? Aren't you supposed to go to the places where your enemy is and fight him there? How are you supposed to win a battle if you are constantly pulling back from the fight? Wouldn't that be more akin to "retreating" than winning? As far as worrying that the war is over oil, of course it is. It's the water of life in our modern world. And, no matter who gets rich from its drilling and selling, you benefit from it. Everytime that you log on to the computer, with its plastic shell, everytime you read a letter with those glasses, the lenses are made of plastic, everytime one of the people that we love is saved in a car crash by the plastic dashboard instead of a wooden one, the stain resistant carpet in you home...... I could go on and on about how you and I both benefit from the oil trade. Did you know that the little ffan inside your computers tower is lubricctd with cheap, efficient oil? Now, would you rather have the oil and a life that you are used to or not and live like they did on Little House On the Prarie? Could you live like that? Most of us could not.Without those giant farm machines, most of the world would starve. Rather you like it or not, we need the oil. No matter who gets rich, it is as important to modern life as food and water. As far as who really gets rich, it's not just who you think. It's the rich people in the Middle East. They get earn far more than the oil companies. And all the while they allow thier own people to live without the basic neccesssities of modern life. No one ever complains about them, do they? Saddam allowed his people to starve in the streets yet he never went without his morning goat milk bath. Bella-Angelique Posted October 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2006 Here is a map showing where the oil fields are. The backs of the largest can be secured by Jordan and Saudi. The small one by Mosul can be secured with the Kurds. Shave off these areas and secure them while abandoning the middle. Let them do what they will to each other as they seem fully willing to do. Ruthlessly maintain a kill line along the secured territories. Ruthlessly account for and control the populations within the secured areas, exiling anyone to the middle who is even remotely suspect. Run the pipelines through Saudi, Jordan, and Turkey. When those in the middle are finished with the hell the are totally committed to indulging in, the largest oil fields will still be operating for them and allow them a recovery then at that time when they are finally ready for one. It is not all that difficult to figure out. It is simply a matter of dealing with things as they actually are and not as they are wished to be.
