Scratch marks on my body for 13 years

I'm 31 now, and for the last 13 years I've occasionally awaken in the morning to find a set of scratch marks on random parts of my body. Infact I'm looking at one right now. They usually appear in sets of either 1 2 or 3. All side by side. The longest I can remember being perhaps 7 inches in length. Usually about 4 inches. They never bleed but they slightly sting. Very similar to if you got a scratch by a cat. I have no cats and I bite my nails so I have basically no edges on my fingernails. So it's definitely some kind of paranormal happening. It's happened for so long now that I don't even think about it much anymore. One really strange thing though is that my last 2 girlfriends have also awaken to find the scratch marks on them at times. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? And could this have perhaps anything to do with the fact that when I was 17 I dabbled in witchcraft? I'm a christian now, but I sometimes wonder if doing that perhaps opened up some kind of gate way to demonic oppression, which is showing up as these scratch marks.

Do you sleep on a feather bed? Is there a duvet under you or do you sleep with one as a comforter? Do you have a feather pillow?

Im not doubting you, but I know how feathers can scratch sometimes if you sleep with down-filled stuff.

No I don't have a feather bed. Feathers could never reproduce what looks like cat scratches, especially that deep. This has gone on for 13 years now. It's definitely some kind of paranormal happening.

Do you get the scratches no matter where you sleep? Do you get them when you stay over at a friend's place maybe? I'm wanna know if we can eliminate your bed and pillow as a possible cause of the scratches.

There have been accounts of this on here before. People claim the same thing has happened where they don't have nails yet they are being scratched as if it were a cat.

I seriously don't know, but I will tell you that this web-site will not give you the best help you are looking for. Sorry to be so blunt but there are a lot more sites that have this topic and only this topic.

Keep searching and type in the search engine all words that relate to your experience. This type of situation only usually fizzles because there are not many people who will believe you, and who will want pictures. After they see the pictures they will only say "thanks for the evidence but it still could be something in your bed..." or "nice pics, sorry I still can't help you."

Im sure you will find something just keep looking.

It is quite possible that these scratches are the result of demonic manifestations. Ghosts are the spirit of fallen angels or demons that masquerade as departed loved ones to deceive people. It would be best to turn to God and rebuke these spirits, then you will rid them once and for all.

This is definitely the type of answer that will get a lot of contraversy. This answer Im sorry to say sounds like youve just read a few too many things about the paranormal in general and want to use all of it at once to attempt to "help."

Dont jump to the conclusion its demons or anything related. I will also add, I think if you are going to tell someone to turn to God you should elaborate a little more on your post instead of just throwing it out there for the OP to freak out about.

I don't read paranormal books, I stay away from them. They can be very misleading. I get my information from the bible. The bible has accounts of demon-possessed people who were known for scratching and mutilating themselves. Not saying this is the case with the opening poster, but the spirit can be doing this to her/him. Just a thought. I don't want to force my beliefs upon other people. There are a lot of believes that people get sucked into believing, some I find hard to swallow!

Maybe I am incorrect on this, but Im going to add it anyway. Back when the bible was written, and there are stories written about demons and such, do you think because they were so scientifically unaware, and uneducated about people with developmental issues that they were mistaken for these types of people?

People who were disfigured and mentally ill also walked the earth back then, and there was no evidence that many of these things were genetic or birth defects. Sorry to use the term defect but at the moment I cannot think of a better term.

I believe that they have mistaken people who werent sane to have been demons. They were not aware of it being a natural occurance. Ive seen people mutilate themselves, and do whatever necessary they thought would get what they want. It only makes sense that because our society has come so far advanced that this is what they were refering to in the Bible.

No offence but what you read from the bible is just a religious theory and it doesn't really get down to helping people sort out their paranormal problems.

Unexplained scratches on the body can sometimes be caused by poltergiest activity not demons, well that is if you don't believe in demons ;)

But the probs I have with this is that it only ever occurs during sleep. You can easily scratch yourself in your sleep unaware. Ok your nails may be short but it's not impossible to cause a scratch with something else. Have you considered sleep walking? have you also considered that your GF's may be doing the scratching since you mention they have suffered as well?

My thoughts are that if it was poltergiest related then you would be experiencing these scratches while awake too and you would be aware of other activity...

Jesus claimed to be God, and I am quite certain that God would know the difference beteen mental illness and demonic possession. Quite true that there are some denominations who contribute mental illness to demonic possession, but they're juts misled. In the biblical accounts, the man who mutilated himself also claimed to be possessed by many demons.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

Ghosts are the spirit of fallen angels or demons that masquerade as departed loved ones to deceive people.

Ghosts are residual energy imprints from where a traumatic or highly emotive death occured. It's like a play back of events that can show or be felt when conditions are right. Ghosts are not interactive or aware of us as the spirit or soul is elsewhere.

Do you have scientific proof to back up this claim?

If it has been going on for 13 years I suggest he go to a specialist. Until they can't prove a darn thing wrong medically then I would start to wonder, and take note. I would pay more attention to my dreams because if this is happening in his sleep it should somehow correlate with his world outside of him being asleep. There might be something he can recollect (sp) if its happening when he's sleeping.

At this point if the OP isnt carefully watching this and documenting it, then theres nothing any of us can really do unless someone is a doctor and can give an assumption, or, until we are sure its something paranormal. Then I believe few of the people on here can surely help.

There is no scientific proof of anything that has happened in the bible either.

When in church do we not say "The father, the son, and the holy spirit"? That's proof right there that spirits exist.

Sorry, but the scientific evidence they have doesn't necessarily mean that everything in the bible is correct. Just because we still prove outrageous things are infact legible, does not mean that everything stated about that one thing proven is truthful and evidential.

I agree, I believe in ghosts and spirits 100% because of the evidence proven today by thousands and thousands of peoples testimonials and from experiences Ive personally had. When did I say I didnt think spirits exist?

Spirits/Ghosts and demons are different things.

Thats fine, I respect your opinion. I for one trust in the bible and belief that God stands by his word when the scriptures say:

2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

inspiration of God (Greek-theopneustos) meaning God-breathed. God inspired the authors, their hands wrote the words of God.

If you are sure that there is nothing on your bed that may be causing these scratches...and you have been experiencing them consistantly for years now...maybe the most plausable explanation is that you MAY be doing it to yourself in your sleep. Have you had a chance to possibly video-tape yourself sleeping? You may be suffering from a sleep disorder of some type........just a theory, mind you.

Worldwide Collective firsthand experiences with ghosts and spirits shows that they are different things. Through the work of geniune mediums we also know this. I'm receptive to spirit myself so I also know this to be case.

Ghosts as I said can not interact, they are not even aware of us. They are simply the works of residual energy. Mediums, psychics and empaths know the difference, a wealth of information can be picked up from residual energy. You have to first understand and accept how residual energy works and differs from spiritual energy.

A spirit can interact and is aware of us and they can communicate directly through a medium. They can also make attempts to communicate physically to us by manifesting their energy here.

The simple answer in knowing this is from experience backed up with confirmation..

No offense, but why everytime I read a topic about a person's experiences, people ask obvious questions like this, as if the topic starter has no common sense? I mean come on...

As for *Madeline*, the bible has never been proven to be 100% truth or the word of God. So there really is no reason to believe it so. And there's no reason not to doubt anything the bible says.

One of the few medically proven posibilities is "stigmata' in their broadest sense. The human mind has the proven ability to create wounds of all sorts on the body without physical cause. These are usually connected to religious symbology (and not always christian as is often assumed) It is thought likely this is because intense "belief" or mental trauma is required to create the wounds. One interesting sidelight to this is the question,"If the mind can create physical wounds, can it heal them?" There is less compelling evidence for this, but faith healing works on the same psychological principle, and even very down to earth physicians recognise that a patient's mental framework/state of mind is very important in the healing process. This is borne out by the "placebo effect" where placebo/ treatments used in trials sometimes have a healing effect the same as the real drugs being assessed. The assumption is that they work because the patients expect them to. In your case, the fact that you, and others close to you have experienced these wounds over a period of time (and assumedly under different physical conditions) creates a reasonable probability that they could be a form of stigmata. (These are NOT a paranormal occurance; with plenty of independent and verifiable examples known over many years of medical history.) Is there any mental trauma which may explain the shape and nature of your marks. The fact that you "dabbled "in witchcraft. hints at this possibility, but is not definitive. I do not believe that an independent entity is creating the marks, although this is possible. I think you would be aware of other evidence if that was the case whereas many people with stigmata, don't have a clue what is happening to them or why. They are often terrified, especially as in the past these were often seen as marks of the devil, or spirit possession as much as signs of religious faith. Now that we have a medical/psychological understanding of them, at some level at least, people no longer need to be quite so terrified (although i expect it is still pretty scary if it happens to you.

Haven't you ever heard of this phonomina called "stigmata"? Must be something at least relating to this. Listen, this is not my bed, or myself doing it. I have basically no fingernails from years of biting them. And yes I've awaken to find these scratch marks in different beds that I've slept in as well as my bed and comforters changing dramatically over the years. These are thin deep scratches that show up all red and even sting a little at first. Almost identical to a cats claw scratch. There is no help for this kind of thing anyway. I know that already. But I don't fear it. I'm a christian so the only thing I can think of is that it's some kind of demonic oppression. But I don't fear demons. What's to fear. Besides there's not much you can do about it anyway if whatever is causing it is living in the paranormal, you dig. Right now I have one on my back and one on my abdomen. They both have more than one line side by side. I think they both have 2 scratches. It would be good though to at least come up with an excuse for future girlfriends about this.
