SilverCougar Posted November 18, 2006 #28 Share Posted November 18, 2006 Ok first off.. it was was possible for cats and dogs to interbreed.. it would have been done a long time ago. First by scientists.. then by breeders. However, it's not possible.. in the slightest. I don't care how much you think this paper's respectible... the article is a farce. Other thing you have to concider.. if this was true, it would be big news.. and all the bigger news networks would pick it up.
ShaunZero Posted November 18, 2006 #29 Share Posted November 18, 2006 Bloody unlikely. As stated in the article, dogs and cats have lived side by side ever since they began living with Man. Not only was it never recorded in 10,000 yrs, but it's probably impossible, genetically. There's a first time for everything. =D

jesspy Posted November 24, 2006 #35 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Blood tests debunk cat-puppy birth claim Blood tests have refuted a Brazilian woman's claim that her cat had given birth to three puppies, geneticist Adil Pacheco says. Cassia Aparecida de Souza, 18, from a poor neighbourhood of Passo Fundo in southern Brazil, said last Friday that her cat Mimi had given birth to the three puppies as well as three kittens, which did not survive. "People who aren't experts often imagine things," said Dr Pacheco, director of the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of Passo Fundo. "All the facts contradict her." Mr Pacheco, who was asked by a local newspaper to conduct a chromosome test to check the spectacular claim which gained wide media attention, said mammals sometimes nursed the young from another species.
