SpaceyKC Posted June 7, 2002 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2002 As usual, exciting, but too much for me to understand. :s01 Still, kudos to Tommy for the link!
Homer Posted June 7, 2002 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2002 I was hoping to learn something new. It has been known for many years that if warp drive/FTL is possible through a wormhole, huge amounts of negative energy would be required to stabilize the wormhole. Towards the end of the article they said space travel remains in the realm of thought experiments, but thats how it always was. The only new information this article stated was that: "quantum wormholes offer a faster-than-light short cut to the rest of the cosmos - at least in principle." Before it was only a theory, but I guess now it's a principle. :-/
PurpleStuart Posted June 14, 2002 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2002 I like the bit about it being "a delicate operation" and that if too much negative energy was used that "a new universe would be created, expanding at the speed of light" Not much room for error then is there!
