-What do believers say about this?-

This is a short (>1 minute) clip with rev. Pat Robertson where he describes his (Christian) view on other deities.

It would be very interesting to hear Christian opinions on this?

(Millions of Christians are following his TV- preachings in the US.)

I was with the guy right up until he brought demons and demonic powers into it. Then he lost me. Up until that point, from a biblical perspective, the guy was absolutely correct, you cannot have a relationship with Jehovah unless you worship Jehovah.

though of course, that is taking the stance that when someone says "God", it is Jehovah to whom they refer, and from a Christian (and Jewish) point of view, there is no God but Jehovah.

His sidetrack into demons and demonic powers threw everything he said before out the window of decency. I wonder how that speech concluded. It was obvious (at least to me) that Robertson was going to continue on with that train of thought.

No one has the right to tell someone that they are following a demon or demonic powers, that's just not on. But up until that last comment, I found nothing theologically inconsistent in that video.

To me Robertson worships the god Mammon, since his most fundemental belief is that the rich are rich because they are blessed and the poor are poor because they are cursed.

He should look to at whose feet he kneels himself.

I agree with PA here . I think Roberts has made himself a bit of a target.

We are all human and make mistakes, and say things out of line right?

The man can be in physical pain for all we know and is living a troublesome life . we are not perfect BUT , I feel given the position he has to others and the will of God in using purpose to acheiving what will come to take place , is not in mans control anymore anyway. His convictions for his own personal standards is strong and hes not afraid to state his opinion. But was that according to what God would of wanted ? We just dont know , he also could have bit his tounge and instead of feeling the impulse to say something that will most likely be a pre-mature figure of speech, and the person wont be able to take thae info in the perception. does that make sense

We really should not mock anyones belief , intentionaly, and hes on the teli, so maybe he still needs to learn a life lesson in the responsibility to teach. Heck hes was having a bad day.lol

As far as the demonic statements , those words could have been better chosen in order to explain or acclaim the exhisting false prophets , or antichrist spoken in biblical scrpture. The new testament is part of our history . so as IM doing for my own self is studying the way humans got the bible. the history of the bible as we know it today. fascinating stuff and just as complicating.

Its all good , the extremists and radicals hate our God if they say it on a braodcast in a warlike demeanor , It would seem fair not to say Roberts was not out of line , but to those whom God wants , something tells me that Roberts allows the human part to slip out in a scurry as if he had toruettes. When someone represents God , as Jesus was as example for us in these times , peace would be the more attractive trait to want to tune in to new knowledge of any advanced learning if Christanity and the sacred name of God himself is spoken. And therefore was probably wahy the jews decided to not record one day the manuscripts in his name and kept the caps using LORD as a substibiut, They kept it in the textragraminton.

so no one who use his name in blashpemy.

Another sign of the times, consider it a blessing we can see this and question everything. dont you agree. personaly I think its time Roberts takes a little vacation or wraps it up and retires . I get the vibes from him as if he is still hanging on to matters of the world that are in no harmaony with the biblcal end times it has prophesied throughout the apostiland the new ttestament.

Abecrombie :)

 Pat Robertson is a terrorist! A separatist and a bigot. Consider that when you consider giving his dis-ease any credibility at all for espousing hate in his ideal gods name. His kind of sickness is what paints god with a bad reputation, through the agency of deviant emissaries on Earth.

Keeping in mind his memorable campaign against Tinky Winky of course! One realizes he's a very sick man. Unfortunately and by support of the sheep intellect, he's also a very rich one. Thanks to the tax exempt status religious terrorists enjoy as they espouse hate and separatism toward the at large community. And are upheld by the hatemongers to which his disease relates as an ideology of the christian right.

When that cur dies, he's going to be so surprised. Meanwhile I'll applaud one more religious terrorist has turned into silent meat! :tu:

Quote from Pat Robertson in that video;

"They don't have a relationship with him [Jehovah]. He is the God of all Gods."

So Mr Robertson is admitting that other gods exist but are subservient to his?

This is one of the things that irritates me regarding those religions that espouse a singular, all-powerful deity. In doing so they instantly denigrate all the other religions and (perhaps unconsciously) promote intolerance.

Even if you were to take the view that the gods worshipped in other religions are the same (singular, all-powerful) god worshipped in your religion, you are still accusing the other worshippers of - at the very least - mistranslating the message.

Why should Jehovah or Allah or Brahma or any other singular, all-powerful deity (I know Brahma is a trinity, but the deity is referred to in the singular) appear differently to believers of other religions?

When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

-Stephen F. Roberts

I love that quote.

Interesing word choices as well. He said all other "gods" making it seem like there were indeed other gods and then he went on to say "are mostly demonic powers" so there are some other's that aren't demons? :innocent:

Pat Robertson only utters vain, insubstantial, fanatic words through his ambiguous chattering mouth. :w00t:

He needs to learn that Hebrew is not the universal language of the earth.

“Say to the Israelites (the Hebrews, the Jews,) 'YHWH, the Elohim (Gods and Goddesses) of your fathers— the Elohim (Gods and Goddesses)of Abraham (a Hebrew), the Elohim (Gods and Goddesses)of Isaac (another Hebrew) and the Elohim (Gods and Goddesses)of Jacob (another Hebrew)—has sent me to you.' This is MY NAME forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation (in the Hebrew Pantheon)."(Exodus 3:15).

YHWH appears translated as “Iehouah” in the first English transcription of the Hebrew God's name, written in 1530.

So, Jehovah is an Anglicism rooted in the Hebrew language.

Lord in Hebrew is Adon or Adonai which is an Angel or a God from the Hebrew Pantheon.

Usually the names of Angels in Hebrew, always end with the syllable “EL”, which means God, i.e. Uriel means literally = the God of the Light.

El Al = means God in the Heighest

Hebrew and Arabic are Semitics languages and are similar; thus God in Arabic “Allah” is similar to Hebrew El Al. Likewise “BETH” means house in Arabic and Hebrew, etc.

The word Eloah means Goddess in Hebrew, it is the feminine of “EL”; and Elohim is a Hebrew plural word, which means Gods and Goddesses.

When the name of a prophet ends in “AH” as for instance Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zachariah, etc., it is indicating the feminine aspect of the Hebrew Deity, that within the Prophet receives or collects (Kabbel, Kabbalah in Hebrew) wisdom from above.

“EL” masculine gives

“ELOAH” feminine receives

“Elohim" is the union of both

“In the beginning “Elohim” created the heaven and the earth.”

Therefore the names of Greek, Hindu, Chinese, Tibetan, Mayan, Persian, etc., Deities are excluded from the Hebrew Bible, because these are not rooted in the Hebrew language. Yet these names have their meaning in their own language.

Pat Robertson is a complete and utter **** who would love to see the United States become a theocracy...with himself as the leader.

He espouses hate against all those who do not follow *his* way (all the while claiming to be a "good" Christian). His inept remarks over the years have brought him plenty of notice (as well as scorn),and have shown many how he truly is.

I remember when he had the audacity to run for the office of President, thinking that he had a chance.

Somehow-- and I'm hoping it's mostly because he's so easy to hate and marginalize-- Pat Robertson has been handed the mantle of "Spokesman for the Christian Right," by everyone, but the actual members of the Christian Right. I am proud to claim full membership in the "Christian Right",' but I'll be damned if I will claim Pat as my spokesman. This man, may be a Christian, I really don't know since that is between him and God, but his views for the most part do not represent my views or those of most of the Christians I know. Like PA, I thought what he was saying prior to getting into the whole demonic powers thing was correct. Everything after that should have been prefaced with the phrase many of us here are familiar with: "In my opinion...."

Very true, Bella, his got rich by getting poor old ladies to send money for prayers. IMO he should be in prison.

I would call myself a Christian because it is God (the Lord, the Father, you know which one I'm talking about) that I have faith in. Where I might wander from usual Christian traditions is that I believe there are other dieties as well. This stems partially from the 1st commandment where it says "Thou shalt have no other god before me." Doesn't that imply there are other gods, but we shouldn't put them before God? If he were talking about false gods that some people worship, he would have referred to them differently, like he referrs to idols in the 2nd commandment as "graven images."

Also, there were pagans in the Bible that could do miraculous things. For example, when Moses confronts the Pharoah, the Pharoah called upon some other magicians that could do similar things as Aaron, such as turning the staff into a snake or turning water into blood. Doesn't that mean there are powers that God does not support?

I don't know. These are things I just thought of myself, not something I heard from someone, so go ahead and critique me as you will. Please have evidence though, and please don't hate me for bringing these ideas up. I love God, I love Jesus, I know they'll freakin rock during the Apocalypse.

Nothing that spews out of his pie hole surprises me :

Pat on woman's rights:

"Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

Pat on 9/11:

"We have insulted God" with legal abortion and resrictions on religion in public places. "Then we say 'why does this happen?' Well, why it's happening is that God Almighty is lifting his protection from us."

Pat on the courts:

"The Supreme Court is bringing upon this nation the wrath of God" by ruling in favor of abortion rights and gay rights.

Pat on other churches:

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist."

Pat on gay people:

"Many of those people involved with Adolf Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals--the two things seem to go together." -Note: Adolf Hitler was a practicing Catholic.

Pat on other TV channels:

"Popular television is flooded with filth and violence; MTV, VH-1, and pop radio stations are sewers of obscenity, rebellion and violence; pop magazines promote the vilest forms of pornography and a form of materialism, selfishness, and greed that has fallen to the lowest levels in human history." -Note: Nobody on the Real World-Austin has called for hits on democratically elected leaders.

Pat on private property and banking:

"Modern experience has shown that usury inevitably leads to subservience. And God did not want that for his people but rather intend for them to rule...He directed that every 50 years, all debt would be cancelled, all property would be redistributed, and the cycle would begin again. Notwithstanding the sneers of many in the banking community, it may be that God's way is the only one open to us - a year of jubilee to straighten us out. -Note: Pat has yet to redistribute his or The 700 Club's money.

I don't trust Pat Robertson and have reasons to believe that he is really a catholic pretending to be a baptist.

Former Jesuit priest Alberto Rivera said that all churches are infiltrated with catholics that are pretending to be members of other religions and the Jesuits are spying on other churches. The goal is to create fake scandals to make protestant churches look bad, punish members of other churches that speak against the catholic church and also to ultimately pull all church denominations under the control of the vatican.

You can read about the life story of Alberto Rivera at this Website:http://www.chick.com/reading/comics/0112/0112_fourpages.asp?pg=01

I surely don't trust Pat Robertson!!!

If the kingdom of heaven is within all people, how can any believer say anyone is wrong in finding their understanding in gaining inspiration from that kingdom!? And, if it makes them a better person to share this world with, be wrong for it!?

What that is really saying isn't coming from a place of right-eousness. It's coming from a place of dictatorial insecurity. Saying; I'd be so happy if only the whole world lived it's life to make me happy in how I see things. And when one depends on other people make their individual life happy, they'll always feel defensive because no one is obligated to live any life but their own. Nor are they obligated to make anyone feel secure in their own.

Righteous indignation doesn't show how much someone loves their faith. It shows how insecure they are.
