Discovery Channel - A Haunting

I have a question for anyone who has seen a Haunting in Connecticut and also read the book "In a Dark Place" on which it was based. Did you find it as odd as I did that they completely left out the "reason" the place was haunted that was given by Lorraine Warren? In the book, Lorraine "clairvoyantly" was able to determine that the former proprieter of the mortuary (or maybe it was just an employee, I can't really remember) was a **********c and had defiled many many bodies there in lots of despicably creative ways. According to Lorraine, THAT was the reason so many spirits were hanging out there, and that was the reason that the demon was attracted to the place. I just find it interesting that this point was so prominent in the book and was completely left out of the show. Of course, it would be easy enough to determine who the employees of the mortuary were, so maybe the show's producers were worried about lawsuits. Anyone have any other ideas why they left it out? (other than the fact that it's pretty far-fetched lol)

Also, I find it very interesting that so many of these demon cases seem to involve some sort of sexual element. It also seems that the majority of the families are Catholic. I'm not sure what the connection is, but it's interesting food for thought.

Catholics have farther to fall, maybe. You don't see many atheists or agnostics being haunted. Demons like to run your nose in your own offal.

:geek: I don't know how many of these families are Catholics, but just because one is Catholic doesn't mean we see ghosts and demons everywhere.

By the way how do you know that agnostics and atheists don't get haunted? There maybe some who live in haunted homes but just don't talk about it.

Many people regardless of religion,or lack thereof, find it had to talk about a haunting in their home or any paranormal experiences they have because

they are afraid of public ridicule from family, friends and co-workers.

I think the reason the business about ********** and the former mortuary owner or worker was not brought up in the show, was because it was considered a very touchy subject for tv.

Hey Holly Dolly and Craig - thanks to you both for answering my question. I don't mean any offense to Catholics, by any means - it's just that three very high profile "demon" cases (The Lutzs, the Smurls, the Snedeckers) all centered around Catholic families. It could also be that Catholic families may be more likely to involve Ed and Lorraine Warren (then the case is more likely to BECOME high-profile) because Ed had an affiliation with the church. Actually, I am completely fascinated by this topic - for example - you could have the exact same phenomenon and have three different families experience it three different ways. Example: The Wiccan family might see helpful elemental spirits, the Shinto (predominant religion in Japan) might see Ancestral spirits or household spirits like soot sprites, where as the Catholic family may see demons. I think we know so little of the nature of these things, it is impossible to say whether they "are" one thing or another to begin with, or if they become what we believe them to be. I think belief has tremendous power and it is possible that it might even have the power to shape this type of energy (or possibly attract different types?). But, anyway, I digress...

Oh, and about the ********** thing... you're right, I quite agree, it is quite a touchy subject for tv. However, after seeing some of the stuff they show, it's surprising they wouldn't jump on it! lol At any rate, it makes the case unique and interesting - I mean, how often do you hear about something like *that*? (thank goodness). BUT, I think there was never any proof to those allegations and it would be easy enough to research who worked there and whose bodies went through there (can you imagine how the families would react?!) - all adding up to some pretty serious claims that would probably end in several lawsuits. Anyway, thanks again for replying - I love talking about this case

I like this show too, however in one of the newer episodes "Dark Wrath", a husband who is apparently possessed takes an axe to his front door and then sticks his face through the hole he just made while his wife cowers in terror. I was half-expecting him to say "here's Johnny". It was way too much like "The Shining".

The one thing I LOVE about that show is every account and story is true. Many times they show the real photos and we can hear EVP's. It makes it so credible that the real people talk during the show. I think Ive seen them all about 10 times. New season coming out, just not sure when..I cant wait..JN

I disagree. I know two Demonologists that are on alot of the shows, and or produce them. Many are theiests, agnostics, but due to the nature of the haunting the best way is to bring in clergy and I have seen Minsters, Pastors and a Rabi. Demonics do not discriminate, if they are attached to a house, a room or a person, they couldnt care less what their religious backgrounds are. They detest humans, and I know many who have had Demonic hauntings, including myself who were not Catholic. We just have to find the right people to fumigate a demonic infestation, plain and simple..JN

I noticed that the brown house appears in several episodes. If you're wondering which one, it's the house with the half-circle window in the front. It appears as the haunted house or the house where the family moves to at the end of the episode.

I also noticed that when the house appears as the haunted house, it's always haunted by a demonic enity.

Reason for that it, that is the only show revealing true accounts of negative or demonic entities. They rarely delve into a human spirit or grounded one. JN

You can try to find the episode at ..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A_Haunting_episodes

But I think the one your after is.....

Demon Child

In Kentucky, Jan and Dale Foster's 6-year-old son Cody starts talking to an imaginary playmate, who he names "Man." As the weeks progress, Cody's behavior becomes erratic. His sudden outbursts make Jan wonder if there is a correlation to Cody's new "friend." When she questions Cody, she learns that his constant companion is the ghost of a murdered little boy. Cody's deviant behavior escalates, and Jan suspects that something more sinister is at work. A Native American shaman gives Jan the tools to rid her house of a demon that seems dead set on possessing her son's soul. In the end she must confront the evil entity alone.

Cody was actually 3 years old when this started. They were unable to find a 3 year to portray Cody's part for the film properly.

I have been in the presence of evil. I had my blankets pulled from my bed. I have seen something come out of the wall. I have felt something walk on my bed. I have had things press down on me until i couldn't move or talk. When they come, you start to feel dizzy, it's like your jair is being pulled into your skull and you hear a kinda high pitched whistle sound and you know it's coming. For years i was tormented in my own family home.

I watched the 'haunting in conneticut' on TV and it really freaked me out but even after what I have gone thriugh I was still a bit skeptical. What kind of parents let their sick child sleep in the basement next to a morgue?

What kind of cruel parents store their food in a morgue fridge?

What kind of cruel parents continue to live in a RENTED house that is obviously destroying their family?

What was their obsession with that RENTED house, why couldn't they just move out?

I couldn't believe that those parents were so desperate for a cheap house that they left their sons to sleep in a room that was once a funeral home.

Does evil exist? Definitely it does.

I must advise you that you are treading on thin ice when citing tv shows as any source of informattion related to the parnormal, though it might be very interesting and informative. I did that a cuple of times and the "Thought Police", berated me for getting any info off tv related to the paranormal. Just thought I'd advise you ahead of time. Good luck.

From time to time, I'll be uploading some Discovery Channel - A Haunting episodes.

A Haunting in Connecticut

When the Parker family moved into a Connecticut rented home in 1986, they were faced with crucifixes, coffin keys and toe tags; they had just moved into a former funeral parlour. They packed away all the funeral paraphernalia but this did not keep the spirits at bay and within a couple of months, the children told their mother that they often saw three men by their beds at night.Mr and Mrs Parker endured frightening experiences, such as hearing funeral music and seeing doors open and shut without reason. The encounters only got worse - Mrs. Parker witnessed her niece fighting off an attack by an unseen intruder while she lay in bed. Mr and Mrs Parker, at their wits’ end, hired a controversial couple who specialise in the supernatural. The demonologist and his clairvoyant wife attempted to rid the house of the evil spirits through an exorcism.

Here is the video in Divx format.

A Haunting In Connecticut night after watching this & i dont scare easly. more episodes would be great.

The Haunting of Summerwind

On the shores of West Bay Lake, Wis., a loving family meticulously restoring a home becomes prey to a supernatural presence that drives a husband to the brink of homicidal madness.

Based on what you presented, one really has to wonder what types of "ppeople" those "parents" are and why no one has acted and placed them in something of a more "normal seting"(My value judgements) As for tv, I have founf that much of what iss on is questionable and done for ratings, money from advertising products, etc. regardless how questionable the show really is or advertises it to be.

really good show for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!!!

I have only seen one episode. It is the usual bump in the night stuff with plenty of night-vision camera work and EMF detectors. The only difference is the animal connection in each story. I suppose that justifies putting in on Animal Planet but the it is just more lowest-common-denominator crap like the rest of the ilk.
