Fluoride also damages the brain, both directly and indirectly. Rats given fluoridated water at a dose of 4 ppm develop symptoms resembling attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder. High concentrations of fluoride accumulate in the pineal gland, which produces serotonin and melatonin. Young girls who drink fluoridated water reach puberty six months earlier than those who drink unfluoridated water, which is thought to be a result of reduced melatonin production. People with Alzheimer’s disease have high levels of aluminum in their brains. Fluoride combines with aluminum in drinking water and takes it through the blood-brain barrier into the brain. Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD, a neurosurgeon, spells out in chilling detail the danger fluoride poses to one’s brain and health in general in his book Health and Nutrition Secrets that can Save Your Life (2002).

Carotid Gland

In our left brain studies the past few years, we have found rumblings of a new gland physically appearing or making itself know in some individuals. It seems as though medical scientists/researchers as well as metaphysical scientists/researchers have been simultaneously discovering in some brains a new gland aptly called the carotid gland.

Following the cerebral branch of the internal carotid artery at the choroid plexus, which is located in the roof of the 4th ventricle, you will find the energetic Carotid Gland. The Carotid Gland is manifesting into a physical gland in individuals doing clearing work in this lifetime on the body, mind and spirit. This gland is truly the master gland of the immortals.

??? also known as the Kundalini gland????

Again, in the individual, this fusion takes place between the pineal (male) and pituitary (female) glands anchored by the carotid gland in the neck being the decarmation point between the head and the body. The chakra-related power points in the head represent the realm of mind and the rest of the body with the lower four lower chakras represent the realm of matter.

This duality is also depicted by the two serpents the ida and pingala nerve channels; the ida striking the pituitary, and the pingala striking the pineal gland, thereby symbolising the fusion of both opposites and the enlightenment “ i.e., ËÅ“activation (fertilisation) of the thalamus (egg) which is both linked to and located at the summit or apex of the central, sushumna nerve channel, and which represents the serpent in the Reptilian part of the brain.

As some of us will know, to illustrate the standing wave processes inside the body regarding the propagation of energy throughout the human system, two serpents (representing the male-positive and female-negative waves) were placed over the central staff image of the spine in Caduceus-style.

. It is said that this neutral life-force energy (prana - Hindu or C'hi - Chinese) is provided by the source like an electric charge, which causes the life force energy to run up and down the spine like electricity running along a wire. The energy is then divided in two, like the positive and negative magnetic waves that propagate outwards and perpendicular to the path of electricity. The human aura is like the magnetic field which surrounds a bar magnet.

If sustained then this fusion activates the bindu point the centre of the vortex which is said to be located some three-fingers width from the top of the head and represents the source-centre of ones consciousness. If activated, or if ones energies reach this highest point, illumination or enlightenment will result.

High Calcium, Vitamin D Intake May Harm Aging Brain

By Alan Mozes

HealthDay Reporter

TUESDAY, May 1 (HealthDay News) -- Seniors who consume high levels of calcium and vitamin D are much more likely to have larger brain lesions that can lead to cognitive impairment, depression or stroke, new research reveals.

The study authors point out that brain lesions of various sizes are not uncommon, even among healthy elders. However, the observation that the overall amount of brain matter affected by lesions goes up with vitamin intake is fueling concerns about a possible connection.

Despite inconsistent results from the epidemiologic studies, several lines of evidence suggest that vitamin D and calcium may be involved in the development of breast cancer. Specifically, (a) there is some epidemiologic evidence for inverse associations between vitamin D and calcium intakes and breast cancer; (B) serum, plasma, and/or blood levels of vitamin D metabolites have been inversely associated with breast cancer risk in some studies; © high sunlight exposure, presumably reflecting vitamin D synthesis in the skin, has been associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer;

For example, scientists at the University of Edinburgh think sunlight could help prevent diseases such as cancer, diabetes and multiple sclerosis. B) A question for you scientists.... will Seratonin uptake inhibitors prevent... or lower the production of Melatonin????

Melatonin is a hormone manufactured from serotonin and secreted by the pineal gland, which is a pea-sized gland at the base of the brain. As people age, sometimes the pineal gland will calcify, causing a decrease in melatonin production. It is made from the amino acid tryptophan. Your body needs B vitamins to convert melatonin from tryptophan. If you do not get enough B vitamins your body could be deficient in melatonin. At menopause there is a decline in melatonin production. Melatonin influences sleep, mood, the stress response, immune function, and even helps to prevent cancer.

http://www.aurorahealthcare.org/yourhealth...2221811.html%22

http://www.springerlink.com/content/r47518675jw057j0/

:tu: Interesting!!!! The Appenix produces melatonin!!!! I had always heard that they were a useless organ... used originally for digesting grass!!!!!..eg as a cow supposedly has a huge one!!!!!

"The concentration of melatonin in the gastrointestinal tissues surpasses blood levels by 10–100 times and there is at least 400× more melatonin in the gastrointestinal tract than in the pineal gland."

The human appendix was the first site outside the pineal where the occurrence of melatonin could be demonstrated (Raikhlin et al: “Melatonin may be synthesized in enterochromaffin cells.” Nature [Lond.] 1975,255:344-5.) The biosynthesis of melatonin was demonstrated in the gut the following year ( Quay & Ma: “Demonstration of gastrointestinal HIOMT.” Int. Rep. Clin. Sci. Med. Sci. Lib. Compend. 1976, 4: 563.) Melatonin is widely available as an individual food supplement.

You, each and every one of you individually, is a walking BRAIN. A walking, talking, thinking matrix of interconnected fibers of BRAIN. Your heart beats and circulates blood inside of a fibrous cage of BRAIN. What am I saying?

What does Melatonin do?

Your BRAIN is so powerful it needs to be shut down from time to time and you sleep. Melatonin is produced from seratonin. Melatonin shuts down the cycle of activity in your BRAIN. What, then, does the pineal gland have to do with the production of seratonin?

The precursor to melatonin is serotonin, a neurotransmitter that itself is derived from the amino acid tryptophan. Within the pineal gland, serotonin is acetylated and then methylated to yield melatonin.

Synthesis and secretion of melatonin is dramatically affected by light exposure to the eyes. The fundamental pattern observed is that serum concentrations of melatonin are low during the daylight hours, and increase to a peak during the dark.

Now, lets switch to seratonin uptake inhibitors.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a class of antidepressants used in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders and some personality disorders. Studies have also found that SSRIs, as a side effect of their action, may cause in many people either a delay of sexual climax or anorgasmia, so they can be used to develop drugs specifically targeted to treat premature ejaculation.

OK. Now, what do you want to know? Oh, does seratonin uptake inhibitors delay what? Enterochromaffin cells? I don't know. But,

In the brain, messages are passed between two nerve cells via a synapse, a small gap between the cells. The cell that sends the information releases neurotransmitters (of which serotonin is one) into that gap. The neurotransmitters are then recognized by receptors on the surface of the recipient (postsynaptic) cell, which upon this stimulation, in turn, relays the signal. About 10% of the neurotransmitters are lost in this process, the other 90% are released from the receptors and taken up again by monoamine transporters into the sending (presynaptic) cell (a process called reuptake).

The answer to your question is St. John's Wort. Don't mess with your BRAIN!

Seratonin is a molecule of oxygen-nitrogen-hydrogen. Seratonin is the liquid that is manufactured in the body and put in the little gap between the synapses of your BRAIN to magnify the atomic electrical charge and to keep the temperature down.

Seratonin reuptake inhibitors stop the mirror from forming.

The Stomach Virus-Chronic Fatigue Connection

http://www.godlikeproductions.com/news/item.php?keyid=12051

Ten years ago, 14 year old Andrew Chia was found to be suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, an incapacitating disease. Concerned about his son's health his father, Dr. John Chia, an infectious disease specialist practicing private in Torrance, Calif. researched the cause of it.

Now, both father and son have authored a report of a study in the Sept. 13 online issue of the Journal of Clinical Pathology, linking the disease CFS with enteroviruses that are known to trigger off severe gastrointestinal and respiratory infections.

"This is sort of a new beginning. Now we can have development of antiviral drugs," said Dr. Chia. "We don't have anything for these poor people, although we've tried a number of things. Now we can study how these viruses behave and how we can kill them."

Statitics show that over a million Americans suffer from this disease and that treating it costs the USA $9 billion every year.

Known to occur more frequently in women between 40 -60 years, than in men, its symptoms are acute sleeping problems, difficulties with concentration and memory, and inexplicable exhaustion. In its severest forms it can be as immobilizing as multiple sclerosis.

First diagnosed about 30 years ago, its causes are as yet not apparent, and some have held various viruses such as parvovirus and Epstein-Barr virus responsible for it, but it was difficult to determine the presence of the virus as it did not seem to cause any real damage to any organ. Enteroviruses, infect the bowel, and cause acute respiratory and gastrointestinal infections. Of over 70 different varieties, they attack the central nervous system, muscles and heart.

Dr. Chia began his quest by examining 3,000 blood samples from 165 CFS patients and 34 people without the disorder. After taking multiple samples from each patient Chia found proof of possible chronic infection in 82 percent of the CFS patients and in 20 percent of the well patients. He also found evidence that 35% of the patients had enteroviruses.

Earlier European investigators had discovered enteroviruses in the muscle and heart brain, of a CFS patient. Chia therefore started examining the stomach which is in his words the viruses' "area of replication."

"If we were to take one sample from each patient, it would be less than 5 percent," Chia said. "We realized this wasn't the way to look at it. The assumption we made about CFS that we have to find the virus in their blood is totally wrong, so we started looking for the viruses in tissue, meat."

After the stomach biopsies endoscopies were performed on 165 CFS patients who had been suffering from gastrointestinal complaints for a long time, it was found that 82% of the specimens taken from CFS patients had positive results, whereas the same was found in only 20% of samples taken from healthy people. In many of the patients the infection had occurred as far back as twenty years.

A professor of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and director of the Gulf War Illness Center at the VA Medical Center, Dr. Nancy Klimas observed that Chia had been successful because he was observing the intestinal tract while others were yet observing the bloodstream.

Chia contends that although the disease can be set off by other infections, at least 50% of the cases of CFS with possibly be caused by enteroviruses. The enterovirus "has adapted to grow inside of a cell but does not kill it," said Chia. Because the cell protects the virus and the attempts by the body's immune system to fight off the virus are unsuccessful. The continuous struggle by the immune system causes the fatigue and stomach pain.

"It makes sense to me as an infectious disease. This makes all the sense in the world," Chia said. "If this is a virus, it doesn't destroy the cells, it hides inside the cells. It's one smart little virus."

Chia gives full credit to his son without whose support he would not have been able to achieve what he did.

Fluoride Accumulates in Pineal Gland

http://glowing-health.com/poisons/fluoride...neal-gland.html

Significance? Huge. Melatonin is reponsible for regulating all kinds of activities and there is a vast amount of work investigating its possible roles in aging, cancer and many other life processes. The one activity that Luke is particularly interested in is the onset of puberty. The highest levels of melatonin ( produced only at night) is generated in young children. It is thought that it is the fall of these melatonin levels which acts like a biological clock and triggers the onset of puberty. In her gerbil study she found that the high fluoride treated animals were reaching puberty earlier than the low fluoride ones.

We know from recent studies - and considerable press coverage - that young girls are reaching puberty earlier and earlier in the US. Luke is not saying that fluoride (or fluoridation) is the cause but her work waves a very worrying red flag. Fluoride's role in earlier puberty needs more thorough investigation. Of an interesting historical note, in the Newburgh versus Kingston fluoridation trial (1945-1955), it was found that the girls in fluoridated Newburgh were reaching menstruation, on average, five months earlier than the girls in unfluoridated Kingston, but the result was not thought to be significant at the time (Schlessinger et al, 1956).

When one considers the seriousness of a possible interference by fluoride on a growing child's pineal gland (and for that matter, elderly pineal glands) it underlines the recklessness of fluoridation. The precautionary principle would say, as would basic common sense, that you don't take these kind of risks with our children for a benefit which, at best, amounts to 0.6 tooth surfaces out of 128 tooth surfaces in a child's mouth (Brunelle and Carlos, 1990, Table 6).

I have a copy of Luke's Ph.D. thesis and would be willing to share it with those who have a serious scientific interest in this issue. The other references cited above can be found in my Statement of Concern which is published on the FAN webpage: http://www.fluoridealert.org/fluoride-statement.htm

Question...

I wonder if taking supplemental melatonin would eventually supress its natural production? Would it then be benefical to switch to a 5htp supplement along with a diet rich in tryptophans so the body eventually produces serotonin then melatonin, naturally?

Thanks in advance!

..after your Christmas lunch of roast turkey.. cranberries..brazil nut and spelt Spelt - This is one of the healthiest grains I'm aware of. It’s an ancient grain that is a complete protein. Spelt contains more of the amino acid, tryptophan, than most other grains. Spelt is easy for the body to digest. Very few people are allergic to spelt. http://www.abundanthealth.ws/ftnm.htm stuffing and cherry and goji berry cobbler.. http://www.greencanadian.com/herbs_for_health.htm . Brain Serotonin Production Directly Related To Degree Of Sunlight

Links Between Pineal Gland Function and Cancer and the Effects of EMFs on the Pineal Gland

:tu: worth reading!!!!

[iThe pineal gland and the major hormone it produces, melatonin, seem to play a role in modulating the immune system. This has led at least one investigator to refer to the pineal as a "cancer-stopping gland." The pineal gland may be more likely to respond indirectly to changes transmitted via neuronal pathways than directly to an EMF. The authors suggest that EMFs can act as a "synchronizer" or as a "stimulus" that acts below the threshold of perception. The association between light exposure and pineal function should be investigated further because light exposure involved with rotating shift work and night occupations could produce confounding factors when analyzing occupational EMF exposures. [bENER 15054]][/i]

http://infoventures.com/emf/currlit/bu15054.html

http://www.showcook.co.za/Sunshine.htm

What About Sunglasses?

One of the reasons we are so ignorant about the benefits of sunlight is that we are told continually to stay out of the sun and encouraged to wear sunglasses that block ultraviolet (UV) rays. Some lenses have been developed to block up to 99 per cent of these important rays and wraparound lenses favoured by sportsmen ensure that the eyes are ‘protected’ from all angles. But when we wear these UV-blocking glasses, we are in fact blocking out the essential rays that help regulate the neurotransmitters that help us sleep and feel good. I’m not at all surprised that half the world seems to be on either antidepressants or sleeping tablets – in our quest for ‘cool’ we’ve lumped ourselves with sleepless nights and depression instead.

When it comes to protecting your eyes from the glare, rather try to stay out of the midday sun or wear a hat. If you feel more comfortable driving with sunglasses or if you have to wear prescription lenses in order to drive, then do so but remove your glasses when you leave the car.

..More on the Carotid gland...

some early studies....

http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?pid=S0716-...ipt=sci_arttext

We have made use of carotid nerve recordings in situ to reveal chemosensory responses to stimuli supplied by inhalation or iv injections to the entire animal (e.g., nicotine administration in Zapata et al., 1976a, B), close-arterial intracarotid injections (Reyes et al., 2005) and topical application to the carotid body surface (Fernández et al., 2002). On simultaneous recordings of the chemosensory activities of both carotid nerves, a high degree of coherence is found in their responses to systemic stimulant and depressant agents (Alcayaga et al., 1997), pointing to the idea that both carotid nerves convey similar (redundant) information to the brain stem. Furthermore, when sectioning one carotid nerve for recording and leaving intact the contralateral one, a high correlation is found between the changes in chemosensory activity of one carotid nerve (input) and the changes in phrenic nerve activity (output) reflexly mediated by the other carotid nerve (Iturriaga et al., 1994a).

Chemosensory discharges, originated from the carotid body, have been obtained in situ from extracellular recordings with tungsten microelectrodes of the connected petrosal ganglion (Vidruk & Dempsey, 1980). This provides the opportunity for a detailed analysis of the discharges of single chemosensory units.

Do you people realize that fluoride is present in our water? That fluoride is actually toxic waste? Fluoride not only screws up your pineal gland but it causes you be more agreeable by suppressing your emotions. Some fluoride info:

-Fluoride was first introduced by Hitler in Nazi Germany (fluoridate the people and they aren't motivated to fight back)

-Fluoride is a key ingredient in anti-depressants (again, controls your emotional responses)

-Fluoride is the main ingredient in most pesticides (yes, and you drink it every day in your water)

-Fluoride is a gathered from toxic waste

-The only dental benefit of fluoride is when it is directly applied to your teeth, aka. toothpaste. Drinking it is toxic to your body and does nothing for your teeth.

-Excessive exposure to fluoride causes dental fluorisis (yellowing/pitting of the teeth)...it also does it to your bones.

Shouldn't we be asking the question, "why is our government putting it in our water?" Sounds like they want us all to be sick, doesn't it?

http://www.healthy-communications.com/citi...erfluoride.html

Questions posed to the National Academy of Science concern their Dietary Reference Intake publication that asserts that Stage III crippling skeletal fluorosis can occur with intakes of 10 mg/day of fluoride for 10 years, yet establishes that level of intake as acceptable for a 9 year old child:

"Does NAS/IOM consider it acceptable for a person to begin intakes of 10 mg/day at age 9 years S and then by age 19 be at risk of crippling skeletal fluorosis?

"Does NAS/IOM consider it acceptable for a person to acquire Stage I or Stage II skeletal fluorosis at any time of life? S What does NAS/IOM consider the minimum dose rate at which Stage I skeletal fluorosis may appear?"

Symptoms of Stage I and Stage II include lower back pain, dose-related calcification of ligaments, chronic joint pain often misdiagnosed as arthritis, early stages of osteosclerosis and possible osteoporosis of long bones.

The Committee posed questions to National Sanitation Foundation, Inc. concerning the personnel that constituted the Standards Committee on Fluoride and its role in industry self-regulation, as EPA no longer regulates drinking water additives.

As one of the two most widely used fluoridation substances, hydrofluosilicic acid, is only approximately 23% in concentration, with the other 77% consisting of industrial waste water containing lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury and a host of other contaminants, the Committee's focus on details surrounding testing and compliance included a request for all studies and test records on the specific substances used to fluoridate, rather than surrogate chemicals tested in de-ionized water.

There were 20 questions in the Committee's second request for information from the EPA. Major emphasis was placed on the Agency's actions regarding margin of safety for children and other susceptible individuals as required by the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Further inquiries were made about whether EPA has made appropriate adjustments for neurological effects and evidence of increased blood lead levels in children in fluoridated communities; investigations of science fraud; and discrepancies in reviewers' carcinogenic classifications from a study mandated by a previous Congressional hearing.

Study: The Effects Of Serotonin On Spirituality

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/21/s...o_n_114112.html

http://psychologytoday.com/articles/index....fromMod=emailed

According to Psychology Today and referencing the American Journal of Psychiatry, serotonin, the brain chemical in charge of moderating mood, metabolism, and sexuality, has been linked to spiritual experiences. Psychology Today reports:

A team of Swedish researchers has found that the presence of a receptor that regulates general serotonin activity in the brain correlates with people's capacity for transcendence, the ability to apprehend phenomena that cannot be explained objectively. Scientists have long suspected that serotonin influences spirituality because drugs known to alter serotonin such as LSD also induce mystical experiences. But now they have proof from brain scans linking the capacity for spirituality with a major biological element.

God and the brain in your gut

What are the implications for those of us interested in biology and God? Will enemas help propel us to enlightenment? I hereby christen this field neurogastroenterotheology, after “neurogastroenterology”, the term for study of the abdominal brain itself.

Religion is intimately connected with the digestive system. For instance, the three major monotheistic religions all have a tradition of fasting. This is commonly interpreted as an pseudo-ascetic practice, but could the real point be to give your abdominal brain a rest? Catholicism also calls its holy days “feasts”, and of course has communion, although that probably wouldn’t be enough food to kick the ENS into gear.

Zen aficionados don’t meditate on a full stomach—the common wisdom being that that ensures your stomach isn’t stealing blood flow from your real brain. But perhaps there is a more direct connection to the state of absorption. After all, many biological theories of meditation hold that the samadhi-like state derives from understimulation (or overstimulation, depending on who you ask) or the parasympathetic nervous system, or balance between it and the sympathetic nervous system. Well, the ENS is often regarded as the third non-cerebral nervous system, after the sympathetic and parasympathetic, so maybe it is involved in the pattern of lowered stimulus in meditation. In addition, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are connected to the enteral nervous system; they are the pipeline over which it talks to the brain in our head, much like two networked computers, in one analogy.

Perhaps those Buddha statues with big fat stomachs are trying to tell us they had achieved intestinal satori. And the focus on the hara (stomach) in Zen is certainly no coincidence—except instead of focusing on it you can focus with it, now that you know it’s got a mind of its own.

When Luke found out that the pineal gland - a little gland in the center of the brain, responsible for a very large range of regulating activities (it produces serotonin and melatonin) - was also a calcifying tissue, like the teeth and the bones, she hypothesized it would concentrate fluoride to very high levels. The gland is not protected by the blood brain barrier and has a very high perfusion rate of blood, second only to the kidney.

Luke had 11 cadavers analyzed in the UK. As she predicted she found astronomically high levels of fluoride in the calcium hydroxy apatite crystals produced by the gland. The average was 9000 ppm and went as high as 21,000 in one case. These levels are at, or higher, than fluoride levels in the bones of people suffering from skeletal fluorosis. It is these findings which have just been published.

It is the ramifications of these findings which have yet to be published. In the second half of her work she treated animals (Mongolian gerbils) with fluoride at a crack pineal gland research unit at the University of Surrey, UK (so there is no question about the quality of this work). She found that melatonin production (as measured by the concentration of a melatonin metabolite in the urine) was lower in the animals treated with high fluoride levels compared with those treated with low levels.

Luke hypothesizes that one of the four enzymes needed to convert the amino acid tryptophan (from the diet) into melatonin is being inhibited by fluoride. It could be one of the two enzymes which convert tryptophan to serotonin or one of the two which convert serotonin to melatonin.

Some interesting studies on the dangers of antidepressants.... to the pineal glands..

The Serotonergic System, the Pineal Gland & Side-Effects of Serotonin Acting Anti-Depressants -Part 2

http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/pinealstory2.htm

Psychoactive substances, Serotonin and the Pineal Gland

Melatonin is not the only neurotransmitter made out of serotonin. Other serotonin derivatives which are psychoactive or mind altering are thought to be produced by the Pineal Gland. The necessary enzymes for the formation of these molecules exist in high concentrations in the Pineal Gland. By acute administration -either smoked or injected into the bloodstream- of one of these serotonin derivatives, also known as tryptamines, humans will experience an altered state of consciousness, which can differ from "hypnogogic dream-like states" to full blown "hallucinatory psychosis." It is recently thought that these molecules are responsible for our dream imagery. They are, just like melatonin, released at night, prior to REM-sleep and interact within the central nervous system. DMT (Di-Methoxy-Tryptamine) and 5-MeO-DMT (5-Methoxy-Tryptamine) are such tryptamines and serotonin derivatives. They can produce colour imagery, out of body(like) experiences, lucid dreams, visions of beings and/or animals, mystical states, subjective "other realities" as well as experiences of "being somewhere else." DMT and 5-MeO-DMT can be extremely frightening when smoked or injected for the first time.

From SSRI-AntiDepressant induced "consciousness on the verge of dreaming and reality", it will be a very close step to SSRI-AntiDepressant induced "psychosis" or "hallucinatory psychosis", in which extremely lifelike dreams/nightmares become hallucinations and will be experienced for real! Many (former) SSRI-AntiDepressant users reported major perception changes, altered states of consciousness, a disturbed sense of reality and out of character behaviour. The symptoms vary from urges to spend money excessively, flamboyant/provocative behaviour, indifference and mania, till abnormal dream and thought patterns, racing thoughts, hearing voices or telepathic like thoughts and akathisia (an extreme mental state of inner restlessness). Also frequently reported is the feeling of living in a bubble, feeling possessed or living in a dream.

An interesting study here on the seratonin links to the appendix.

My link

Basically there is increased seratonin when the appendix are inflamed...

The appendix produce seratonin.

But then there are some studies that link the appendix with storing healthy bacteria..

The function of the appendix seems related to the massive amount of bacteria populating the human digestive system, according to the study in the Journal of Theoretical Biology. There are more bacteria than human cells in the typical body. Most of it is good and helps digest food.

'A good safe house'

But sometimes the flora of bacteria in the intestines die or are purged. Diseases such as cholera or amoebic dysentery would clear the gut of useful bacteria. The appendixs job is to reboot the digestive system in that case.

The appendix acts as a good safe house for bacteria, said Duke surgery professor Bill Parker, a study co-author. The location of the appendix just below the normal one-way flow of food and germs in the large intestine in a sort of gut cul-de-sac helps support the theory, he said.

Hmmm ??? So how does seratonin levels match up here???.. unless the appendix is multifunctional just like the pineal gland..

This is interesting>>>Soil Bacteria Work In Similar Way To Antidepressants

My link

Researchers from Bristol University and University College London discovered using laboratory mice, that a "friendly" bacteria commonly found in soil activated brain cells to produce the brain chemical serotonin and altered the mice's behaviour in a similar way to antidepressants.

:tu: So this could be why gardening is seen as theraputic.. can make you feel happier and healthier..

It is not just the fresh air...
