My girls and I were sitting on a bench outside on a warm spring night, listening to the spring peepers, enjoying the night air. We were just quietly talking, when an undulating black cloud, approx. 4 feet long and 2 feet thick, floated by about 20 feet in front of us and about 3 feet above the ground. It passed in front of us and floated into the woods. We all said "What was that ??!!" at the same time. Then I said we'd better go in the house because whatever it was it gave me a creepy feeling. I was in my room which was dark cuz i was going to sleep. and i look down from my top bunk and see this weird black mist type thing sitting in the same place, yet was moving within that area. Thanks to everyone who replied, even Barek Halfhand for whistling Dixie:) The Black Mist My nephew and girl friend, experienced happend on more than one occasion, He was living at home at the time. (North West England, Merseyside). This happened after his father died. Nicola saw it first in the early hours, she has told us she felt restless, and sat up,( bed facing the window) to see a black mist coming down from over the top of the wardrobe, down on to the black plastic chair next to the wardrobe. Nicola, maintains that this mist was compact, it wasn't spread out/swirling, it just surrounded the chair, at that point, she shook John awake, Who looked, and looked Again, He just said lets get out of the room, they did, they climbed over the bed board at the bottom of the bed,rather than go past it, out the door and hammered his mothers bedroom door down, so house in uproar, by the time my sister gathered her wits together, needless to say there was nothing there, only a very disgruntled mother. Now the plot thickens, Nicola, is a manicurist, fancy stuff. Nicola invited a new girl at the salon, to come to my sisters house so she could teach the new girl the finer points on nails etc. Both are sitting at the dining table, My sister watching telly, our John stretched out on the sofa, both looking in the opposite direction, when the new girl kept looking towards the door leading to the front door, in the end Nicola said, what do you keep looking at, the new girl said who else is in the house, a chorus of no one followed, the new girl said yes there is, there is a man standing in the door way as tall as the door frame, John jumped off the sofa and out into the hall, nothing there, up the stairs, still nothing, new girl abruptly called a halt to the nail painting session, insisted on being escorted to the front door, into her car, and down the street, she went This girl had never been to my sisters house before, Nicola assures us she never told any one about the black mist, or the fact that johns, Fathers ashes are still in the house, could be a case of the restless dead. I was conducting a banishing spell at the time, for protection when I went to sleep because I used to feel really weird when my room was dark, and to this day I still don't like the area where my door is at and insist that the door be kept closed at all times when I am in the room. Anyway, to make a short story get to the point quickly, after performing said banishing spell, for the first and only time to this day, a black thing (it had no definite form, it was like a "mist" as you said, not a shadow or anything like that) manifested itself upon that area near the door. For a minute it lingered, and then, the room returned to its normal status. Nothing really amazing involving this black mist has happened before or since that lone incident. I remember it vividly to this day, and I doubt that I will ever forget. Also, in this movie called Haunted, the woman sees a similar thing in her house, but in the movie all sorts of other things happen that didn't happen to me. (Just for the record, I saw the black thing years before seeing the movie. Although the movie is old, I never heard of it until a recent day when I was bored and browsing On Demand under Free Movies, which suggests just how crappy the movie was. At first it seemed like my eyes were just looking for shapes in the near total darkness, but after a minute it seemed to stand out from the background. It looked like complete absence of light wrapping around my fingers like smoke. It was coming from all the cracks and started floating around more. I thought I was probably just freaking myself out but it was sort of everywhere and the more I looked directly at it, the more solid, clear and defined it became. It was around then it seemed to react to my observing it and I started seeing it all over my arms and coming out of the covers. It felt like it was trying to get in my eyes. I wasn't afraid really, I was more surprised and tired. I'm kinda used to strange happenings. I decided to not pay any more attention to it and closed my eyes but I could still see it. emptied my mind, thought of other things.... Finally I got up and waited for the sun. Occasionally I would see something flash by out of the corner of my eye like a 'black mist'. Then I made an appointment with my optometrist and it turned out I had developed an astigmatism. It's happened several times. It looks like a lot of loose yarn ends all swirling in a mass. Probably 6-8 inches in width. Was awake and watched it come in through aircon unit and move towards our bed stopping directly over us. I lit a ring of candles around. Then i concentrated on love and light to ehich it promplty left. I also saw a documentry on this phenomenon. It involed people from all around world from all differntvback grounds. The only feedback i have had is that its a demon, dark spirit. Was given a cross and holy water after May my fiancee at time told her co worker. Her mum had experienced the same. The people in the documentry said they felt paralyzed, couldn"t move. I think i was lucky to see it coming and not be woken to it. No word of a lie this black mist or maybe mass, was on me... It has been trying to breast feed off me... I freaked and jumped up and said **** off Exact words... I felt disgusted... I would feel something touch me and would wake me up from a sound sleep. I would wake up startled and see a black mist hovering over me or on side of bed. Sometimes it would be in the shape of a human form. It would dissipate quickly. Was really annoying and scary. I was unable to connect it to anything. Curious do you believe it could have been a sleep, near wake kind of hallucination or do you feel it can only be of paranormal explanation?
