LONDON (Reuters) - Snoop Dogg, who has been denied a visa to enter Britain on a European tour, is seeking to have the decision overturned, a spokeswoman said on Saturday.

The 35-year old, arrested during a disturbance at Heathrow airport last year, had been due to perform with fellow rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, at Wembley Arena on Tuesday, followed by gigs in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, and Nottingham.

"Snoop still sincerely hopes that the British Government will reconsider their decision and UK shows will be allowed to go on as planned," his spokeswoman said in a statement.

"Many routes are being explored to the prime minister to have the decision reversed," she added.

The Home Office said it would not comment on individual cases, but added that the government had the power to refuse entrance to individuals whose presence in the country would "not be conducive to the public good".

Dogg was previously prevented from entering Britain in May, 2006.

It was not the first problem the rapper has encountered on his European tour. Earlier this month, Stockholm police arrested him and a woman in her early 20s for suspected narcotics use.

Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, had been performing concerts with Combs, once his bitter rival in a notorious feud between the east and west coast U.S. hip-hop scenes in the 1990s.

"They feel strongly that the uniting message of the One Love Peace Tour will need to be shared with fans no matter what and discussions are underway with production teams so that Snoop can still be involved in the show," his spokeswoman said.

snoop dog not allowed to enter england, no dog allowed in britain

For future reference GeneralCusturd, Briitain and England are not the same thing; and both Cardiff and Glasgow are no more in England than New York or Washington D.C.

sorry my mistake

no, thats why the article mentions his Scottish date.

The article mentions 'Britain', 'British Government', 'uk' repeatedly, it does not say England; it then mentions four cities only two of which are English and the rest are Scottish and Welsh.

Your title says 'snoop dog not allowed to enter england', implying Britain is England and that Glasgow and Cardiff are in England, which from our point of view is none to flattering.

I am simply pointing out the error

I wouldn't want this idiot in my country either but he already does. If the average joe had done as many crimes as he's done they would be locked up in prison for life. Take a look at his (rap)sheet:

1990s - Snoop Dog was arrested for possession of cocaine. Over the next three years he spent time in and out of prison.

July 1993 - Snoop was stopped for a traffic violation and a firearm was found by police while conducting a search of his car. In February 1997 he plead guilty to one count of being an ex-felon in possession of a handgun and was ordered to record three public service announcements, pay a $1,000 fine, and serve three years probation.

August 1993 - Snoop was charged for being an accomplice to the murder of Phillip Woldermarian. In February 1996, with the help of attorney Jonnie Cochran, Snoop was found not guilty of all charges but voluntary manslaughter, on which the jury deadlocked.

May 1998 - Snoop Doggy Dogg was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession. He was fined of $100, plus a $170 penalty assessment fee and a $100 payment to the Victim's Restitution Fund, for a total cost of $370.

October 2001 - Snoop was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, after his tour bus was stopped and searched in Ohio. In May 2002 he pleaded no contest to the charge and was fined a total of $398.30 and a suspended 30-day jail sentence.

April 2003 - Snoop Doggy Dogg's bodyguard, McKinley Lee, was grazed by a bullet after unknown assailants showered Snoop Dog's car and other cars in his entourage with bullets.

August 2003 - Snoop was named in an affidavit claiming that he and the makers of the "Girls Gone Wild: Doggy Style" tape lured two underage girls to take their tops off for the camera by offering them marijuana and ecstasy. The suit was settled in July 2004.

And the story hasn't ended yet.

i agree with the decision, they have a right to not allow someone who is known to be in possession of drugs into their country...if it was based on a prejudice they wouldn't have allowed the other performers in..

Pretty scary that a government gets to pick and choose what they want their citizens to enjoy for a live performance.

I bet you 10 bucks that if Bush stopped some liberal protesters from protesting in the public streets for the reawson that it wouldn't be good for the public, there would be an outcry from every corner of this country.

This kind of thing happens all the time, and has been going on for years with music stars. In the 60s, they wouldn't give Brain Jones of the Rolling Stones permission to enter the U.S. John Lennon was also unable to enter the U.S. for a while. Remember Paul McCartney getting busted for pot in Japan -- they put him in jail for a day or two.

It has nothing to do with censorship or allowing or not allowing citizens to hear this or that -- it's about making it tough on people with criminal records to do whatever they want, whenever they want., or go wherever they want, just because they are celebrities. Snoop Dog lives on the edge -- he can't expect everyone to roll out the red carpet for him.

we have enough problems with gangsters in london, bringing him over makes it acceptable for the idiots who think it is cool to be in a gang especially recently when there have been shootings and stabbings.

you cant compare the greats lennon mccartney, jones to snoop dog ffs. THATS JUST WRONG

Oh, I agree on the latter point. Snoop Dog isn't fit to lick the boots of a Brain Jones in terms of talent. Jones was an incredible scumbag and sick human being in his personal life -- but, man, that guy was extremely talented.

When i think of Snoop Dog in terms of talent, I almost wish there was a law that making bad art was a crime, in which case, he'd be imprrisoned for life.

We don't have homeboys in the UK, only homoboys.

Old Snoop is getting just want he wants, publicity. If they end up letting him in he cleans up, cause people will go see him just cause it's BAAAD. If he don't get in he still cleans up here for the same reason. I don't blame the UK for not wanting him in, he is an undesirable.
