Piney Posted June 29, 2010 #276 Share Posted June 29, 2010 No, it is true that many ethnic groups have black hair that fades to red after they have died. You can see it in Native American remains, Egyptian mummies and many Polynisian remains. Edit: You'll find many conspiricy theorys to try to explain these world wide red heads, that often involve lost European civilizations, which is just bunk. Thank you! my half-sister and all 3 of my nephews were born with red hair. It turned black after the first year. Then when my sister bleached her hair with peroxide it turned red instead of blond. There is a lot of construction going on there behind our backs. Look at that new "sky walk" thing that suddenly popped up. They could be building houses for all we know, and they don't want us spying on them. Many places in Google Earth are hazy, simply for privacy matters. Not every land owner is totally comfortable with a bunch of basement dwellers staring at their rooftops 24/7. I know I'd rather MY house be fuzzed out, too. You can even go street view now and see my house and one of my family members IN the house. Total lack of privacy and security.

Erowin Posted July 10, 2010 #284 Share Posted July 10, 2010 (edited) Simple biology tells us that humans CANNOT be 12-14 feet tall. Their legs would break. Increasing somethings size does not increase the strength on the same level. If a 12-14 foot tall humanoid existed, it would have to be some other species. Basically there were no giant humans, all skeletons have been hoaxes or misidentification. There is also the case of Robert Wadlow, the tallest person in history at 8'11. Yet the human body was not made to be that tall. He had to use leg braces to walk and had no feeling in his legs and feet. Other 'giant' people share this problem. If the body is under great stress at 8 feet, imagine 12?! Edited July 10, 2010 by Erowin

Cheers Swede, I do aim to entertain as much as anything but am aware of the speculative nature of my posts. However, found this from wiki Aside from mythology and folklore (see Tall tales), remains of extremely tall people have been reported, although rarely documented. The book Forbidden Land by Robert Lyman (1971) recounts the following alleged finds: A decayed human skeleton claimed by eyewitnesses to measure around 3.28 meters (10 feet 9 inches tall), was unearthed by laborers while plowing a vineyard in November 1856 in East Wheeling, now in West Virginia. A human skeleton measuring 3.6 meters (12 feet) tall was unearthed at Lompock Rancho, California, in 1833 by soldiers digging in a pit for a powder magazine. The specimen had a double row of teeth and was surrounded by numerous stone axes, carved shells and porphyry blocks with abstruse symbols associated with it. Several mummified remains of humans with reddish hair claimed to range from 2-2.5 meters (6.5 feet to over 8 feet) tall were dug up at Lovelock Cave, (70 miles) north-east of Reno, Nevada, by a guano mining operation. These bones supposedly substantiated claims for legends by the local Paiute Indians regarding giants which they called Si-Te-Cah. However, there appear to be no verified Paiute legends about giants or that call the Si-Te-Cah giants [7]. Some of these artifacts can also be found in the Nevada State Historical Society's museum at Reno. Adrienne Mayor states that these skeletons are normal sized.[7] Mayor does not mention that some of the fiber woven sandals found at Lovelock Cave are extremely large, as great as 7 inches across the toes and up to 16 inches in length (size 20 US mens) suggesting persons very much more than average size.[8] A 9' 11" (3.02 meters) skeleton was unearthed in 1928 by a farmer digging a pit to bury trash in Tensas Parish, Louisiana near Waterproof. In 1931 a 10' 2" (3.1 meters) skeleton was unearthed by a boy burying his dog in Nearby Madison Parish. Aside from in Forbidden Land, we can find verified and unverified examples about the remains of giants: The skull of a youth 7 feet tall, and the partial limb bones of a man estimated at over 11 feet tall were unearthed in 1890 at the Bronze Age cemetery of Castelnau-le-Lez, France and published in the science journal "La Nature"[9] and subsequently reported in the New York Times in 1892.[10] A 9' 8" (2.95 meters) skeleton was excavated from a mound near Brewersville, Indiana in 1879 (Indianapolis News, November 10, 1975). In Clearwater, Minnesota, the skeletons of seven giants were found in mounds. These had receding foreheads and complete double dentition [citation needed] A mound near Toledo, Ohio, held 20 skeletons, seated and facing east with jaws and teeth "twice as large as those of present day people", and beside each was a large bowl with "curiously wrought hieroglyphic figures." (Chicago Record, October 24, 1895; cited by Ron G. Dobbins, NEARA Journal, v13, fall 1978). Near the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario there is a span of mountains five miles long that is in the shape of a man wearing a headdress lying down on his back. The span is called "The Sleeping Giant" from local Ojibway legend that identifies the giant as Nanabijou, the spirit of the Deep Sea Water, who was turned to stone when the secret location of a rich silver mine, now known as Silver Islet, was disclosed to white men.[11] Patagons of Patagonia in South America, are giants claimed to have been seen by Ferdinand Magellan and his crew.[12] Drake reported only finding people of 'mean stature'[13] although his Chaplain reported giants. However, even before Magellan, a Spanish romance called Primaleón of Greece was published in 1512 in which a dashing explorer discovers savages, one named Patagon, whose descriptions are very similar to those of Magellan.[14] There is even a story in William Cody's autobiography about an encounter with the Pawnee Indians that reads. "While we were in the sandhills, scouting the Niobrara country, the Pawnee Indians brought into camp some very large bones, one of which the surgeon of the expedition pronounced to be the thigh bone of a human being. The Indians said the bones were those of a race of people who long ago had lived in that country. They said these people were three times the size of a man of the present day, that they were so swift and strong that they could run by the side of a buffalo, and, taking the animal in one arm, could tear off a leg and eat it as they ran." They too had six fingers on their hands, which was why the Indians raised their hands when they greeted someone, so that they could count the fingers, for they feared the six fingered men. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_(mythology) the key word above being "alleged" but it is a fascinating topic imo. You can't blame so of the readers of fringe to be somewhat suspicious of the establishment. There are enough references to giants in myth and scripture for it to have some base in reality but until a skeleton is put on display we will never know for sure what is true and what is fantasy. +DieChecker Posted July 11, 2010 #291 Share Posted July 11, 2010 Few, if anyone, recognizes those reports from the 19th century America of giant bones being found to be real, since many of the newspapers of the time would publish fiction and fantasy to draw in readers. I have not heard of a single one of these sites with giant bones turning out to have any evidence still existing. And I would love it there was some, as it might point to an origin of the Bigfoot phenomena.

You are most correct, alleged IS the operative. As to readers of the fringe being somewhat suspicious of the establishment, I can only attribute this to a deliberate lack of motivation in regards to serious research. DieChecker's assessment of the journalism of the time is quite accurate and, if anything, an understatement of the point. Sensationalism and outright invention were not at all uncommon. Witness the fabrication of "authorities" in the Grand Canyon/Egyptian case, not to mention the Cardiff Giant. This was the era of P.T.Barnum. He knew his market well. . Uden Posted January 25, 2012 #293 Share Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) The very existence of this place stands in contradiction of itself. It is disheartening to see people argue amongst themselves as if one of us truly has any answers to the 'where, why & how' of our collective predicament. As to the topic of giant skeletons, Nephilim, God and science; true or false it's all quite wonderful. Edited January 25, 2012 by Uden

TheAlanWolf Posted December 5, 2012 #296 Share Posted December 5, 2012 This has really been great fun reading. Had some friend make a comment on facebook about it and I looked into it and found this thread. Sorry but I have to say that without substantiated evidence I'm a skeptic. I won't deny the possiblity that giants may have existed since there is no "proof" that they did not. I feel rather sorry for some of the CT's here since their baseless opinions kinda got trounced. There is one point however that I feel they had. Science is knowledge in a state of flux. We are constantly learning, right? Has it always been that way? Currently we are much more open to new discoveries and even revolutionary ideas but we weren't always so. For this reason I cannot stand on any absolutist side. There is simply no substantial evidence to support the existence of giants. However, the scientific community of the past was very narrowminded and it isn't out of the question for evidence that contradicted the popular ideas of the time to be brushed under the table, ridiculed into obscurity, or *gasp* destroyed. Who knows? But until there is real evidence I'm not convinced. The fact that no recent evidence has come forward is a little troubling though since "discoveries" were so common in the past. I'm very open minded to the possibility of an unknown human ancestor(there was more than just us and the Neanderthals after all) having existed. There was the pigmy breed called Homo floresiensis after all. It isn't too far fetched for there to be a giant breed as well. It does seem unlikely, but not entirely inconceivable that the religious folk in control at the time didn't want inconvenient discoveries that contradicted their teachings becoming public, so they got rid of the evidence.
